DETROIT (Ticker) -- Dan Cloutier looks to continue his red-hot goaltending when the Northwest Division-leading Vancouver Canucks visit the defending Stanley Cup-champion Detroit Red Wings tonight.
Cloutier was named NHL Player of the Week on Monday after going 2-0-1 with a 1.28 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage,
The 26-year-old, who is second in the NHL with 28 wins, is unbeaten in his last seven starts (4-0-3) and has registered a 1.78 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage during the span.
Brent Sopel scored a power-play goal and fellow defenseman Ed Jovanovski netted his fifth of the season on Saturday, when Vancouver moved to 5-0-4 in its last nine contests with a 2-2 tie on the road against the Calgary Flames.
The Canucks, who lost in six games to the Red Wings in last year's Western Conference quarterfinals, are four points ahead of Colorado for the lead in the Northwest.
The Red Wings, who trail the St. Louis Blues by four points for the lead in the Central Division, have won three in a row following a season-high six-game winless streak.
Brett Hull scored twice in the second period and recorded a season-high four points as the Red Wings extended defeated the Atlanta Thrashers, 6-2, on Saturday.
Hull's goals came in a four-goal outburst during an 8:10 span of the second as the Red Wings put together three straight victories for the first time since winning four in a row from December 21-28.
The Canucks have won two of three meetings from the Red Wings this season.
