Marek Malik??? That big oaf actually scored? He couldn't get out of his own way when he was with the Whalers. The other teams eyes lit up when he stepped on the ice.

Long live Glen Featherstone!!!!!

Yup, he has been fairly decent IMO. Not the Canucks best defenceman, but not the worst either.

I think he's definitely one of the best. Very underrated for sure. His +/- is something like 26, and the next nearest D-man is Salo IIRC at like 6.

Really? Wow, I should keep track of stats.

This is the thread that will not die. I guess I'll post my 2 cents here.

I am not a hockey fan, but I was when I was younger. I loved the Vancouver Canucks. I watched when they had Cliff Ronning (I have a card autographed by him), Pavel Bure, Trevor Linden, Dave Babych, Kirk McClean, and Geoff Courtnall (please excuse any spelling errors). I also played as the Canucks in NHL93/94/95/etc...I remember them losing in the Stanley Cup finals to the Rangers (am I right?). Then I stopped watching it, as it broke my heart. Its hard to get in to hockey here in Kansas.

Well..Go Canucks!

No kidding. They got arse-raped by the refs that period. 2 goals down now, it's gonna be tough to come back.

I think the calls against the Canucks were legitimate, but there has been some stuff by the Wings that has been let go.

I wonder what the loss %'age is when Magoo refs the game.
He is by far one of the worst refs when it comes to the Canucks. He called the 5 on 3 penalty.
What surprised me more was the anouncers said the refing was rather sh!tty.

Had the push/hook on Ouland been a Canuck against one of the high priced Wings. There would of been a call. Federov? what ,stay in the penalty box till the play went by

NOT He did attempt to get out of the way.

Magoo just has something against the Canucks.

Shorthanded Wings down Canucks

Associated Press
3/5/2004

DETROIT (AP) - Nicklas Lidstrom had a goal and two assists and Manny Legace made 23 saves to lift the Detroit Red Wings over the Vancouver Canucks 3-1 Friday night.

Brendan Shanahan and Brett Hull scored the other goals for Detroit, which was without centres Pavel Datsyuk (sprained ankle) and Kris Draper (partially separated rotator cuff) and defenceman Mathieu Dandenault (broken foot).

The Red Wings are 11-2-2 in their last 15 games and have a league-best 89 points.

Legace's best save was a sprawling glove stop on Sean Pronger's shot from just outside the crease with 2:47 left in the second period.

Mike Keane scored for Vancouver.

Detroit scored twice in the second period to break a scoreless tie.

Shanahan got the game's first goal at 3:15, on a one-timer from just inside the blue-line. Hull made it 2-0 at 6:19 of the second while Detroit was on a five-on-three advantage.

Lidstrom converted a pass from Ray Whitney on a two-on-one 6:07 into the third period. Keane thwarted Legace's shutout attempt with 4:59 remaining.

Notes: Datsyuk will be out 10 days to two weeks. ... Detroit D Chris Chelios returned after missing three games with a shoulder injury. ... Vancouver C Artem Chubarov didn't play because of an injured groin. ... Shanahan's goal was his 20th of the season and gives him 16 consecutive seasons of at least 20 goals, tying him for fourth all-time with Phil Esposito. Gordie Howe had 22 and Hull and Marcel Dionne are tied at 17.

I agree with Squisher... But not on those two calls. Fedor deserved that penalty and Ohland was off balance (not due to anything Holmstrom was doing.) And Crawford definitely deserved that bench penalty. It's not like it was the first time he's lost his cool, causing his team to be shorthanded.

But these things work themselves out... I'm sure there have been plenty of nights where the Canucks seem to get more calls than the other team.

At least the Canucks didn't injure any Wings tonight.

Fedor was trying to move up ice when Chelios skated backward into Fedor. Ohlund was off balance but Holmstrom did give him a little shove (could have been much worse). Also it was not Crawford that got the penalty but Linden for saying something like "what would you have done if that was Yzerman" or something like that. Even the Sportsnet Announcers where mentioning how sh!tty the officiating was.

Deems the breaks........ the season series is tied at 2-2.

ps. we did not injure anyone because we took pity on you since you have like 3 guys recently

Well, of course they did... They are very much "homers" to the Canadian teams.
