Yeah they didn't come thru. I'm cancelling my order. Placed a preorder for the 3700 San Diego on Monarch. Supposed to ship May 6th. Hopefully they'll clock as well as the Venice seem to. Then I'll have a fairly priced FX59!!!!

If they aren't going to receive any before 5/13, they will have a ton of cancelled orders and a flood of complaints and negative reseller feedback. Pretty stupid on their part if thats the case

*edit*
Just cancelled my order

I wont say much, however 3 Ghz Opterons are slated for Q1 2006. Yeilds take time and tweaks, just give them time for you overclockers out there.

DIE? Where else are you going to get these before May?

If you want to get mad at anyone, get mad at AMD for yet another paper launch.

I guess the correct term would be "Paper Shipping Date" as I was corrected in another thread because AMD did not "officially" launch this chip although they did "officially" announce a shipping date of April 4th for the Venice and April 15th for San Deigo......LOL!

Ugh... this is F'd up. We're talking about a revision here - not a new core or a new socket design.

Message of the day? Don't do paper launches. It kills the enthusiast community. Dead.

Sorta knew that this is going to happen, so when I couldn't get any Venice chips on the 4th I bought a Winchester instead.

I really wish both AMD and INTEL would stop paper launch their products.

News!

Here's the latest I have.

120208 which is the 3800+ 512k Rev E. = 4/28
120209 which is the 4000+ 1 meg Rev E. = 4/30
120206 which is the 3500+ 512k Rev E. = 4/27

We are having plenty of these cpus arriving, so pre-orders plus new orders should be fine without delays. As always, if I hear anything else I'll keep you guys posted.

Any word on the 3700+ ?

Latest word on the 3700+ is the cpu is shipping out to us on the 22nd, and from Singapore it typically takes around 6 days. Again, please bare in mind that these dates may end up changing, but this is the best info I currently have. Essentially it seems that these CPUs do exist currently, but AMD is waiting for the market to dry up on the old revisions of these chips.

Well personally, I always rather underpromise and overdeliver than the alternative. I rather be conversative on my date and end up with product sooner than later.

Yeah I just called, NO one has ANY Venice processors, it's not like they just got 50 and shipped them all out already, what happens is AMD gives the resellers a date and the resellers like sparco and Monarch put that on their website. When AMD doesn't deliver, they give them another date, and another, jeez I just hope this isn't going to be like the PCI-e Geforce 6800 GT paper launch. That was like 3 months of non-availability.

ROLF!! I don't much care what Sparco says! Yesterday they told me they would be in latter in the day or tomorrow(today). This morning when I talked to them they said 5/13 at the earliest. Sparco is either totally clueless or outright liars, either way I won't be doing business with them again.

And sparco doesn't have anything in stock! They and about a dozen other resellers just take orders for Ingram Micro (who doesn't have any yet). All of the wharehouses Sparco lists are IM wharehouses, they never see or touch the products. They take orders and pass them on to IM. And I found out from another source that IM's resellers have taken orders for more than twice what IM will receive in their initial shipment, so your chances of getting one when IM gets their delivery are not good.

Ah, sweet music!! That's great to hear these chips aren't phantoms, but really in the pipeline now. I've had three dealings with Monarch in the last four months, and have to say each transaction was exemplary, and I couldn't be any happier with the service I got (including one mid-flight order revision that was performed cheerfully and ungrudgingly by the sales guys). But I didn't realize Monarch sales reps had item numbers too. At first I thought you were kidding, but a search of the website for 000229 returned this:

sales rep 229

Quantity in Basket: none
Code: 000229
Price: $0.00
Shipping Weight: 0.00 pounds
In Stock - Usually ships in 1-2 days

haha! do all the reps there have their own item number?

Sparco only goes on what AMD tells them. If you want to get pissed at anyone, get pissed at AMD. They're the liars.

Yes, it's hard to blame Sparco for merely passing along the ETAs published in Ingram Micro's database. And IM in turn is only passing along dates provided by AMD or perhaps a first tier distributor of theirs. But in the end, like you say, the blame has to lie with AMD...

Speaking of which, I've got a question for MonarchJoe: when Monarch gets shipments of AMD processors, do they come directly from AMD, or an intermediary? And would you know if Ingram Micro and other drop-shipping distributors in the U.S. get their stuff directly from manufacturers like AMD, or from overseas distributors?
