You look at PNAC, you look at the players in PNAC that are in the administration, you look at the vetting of rational the American people will fall for as justifications for going to war, you watch how the admin switched justification over and over as one approach after another failed to inspire, you look at the final justifications, you look at the fact that they were all false, you come to the conclusion that the admin. wanted and intended to go to war regardless of reason, if, of course, you can think at all, just as you would instantly see this, if, say, Saddam had used such reasoning to invade Kuwait.

GrGr, you have to learn to summarize. I don't care how great your point may be, it's not worth my time reading a book.

And the funniest part if you wear that like a badge of honor. Congrats, both you and the DUB can't be bothered to read anything longer than the Title of the Movie.

That's just the trouble with thinking in mantras... Say it with me now:

"Seven words can't explain the whole issue"

Oh dear... I've gone and created another one.

Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi: Saddam connected to al-Qaida

[hat tip: Charles Johnson]

Brokaw: Prime minister, I?m surprised that you would make the connection between 9/11 and the war in Iraq. The 9/11 commission in America says there is no evidence of a collaborative relationship between Saddam Hussein and those terrorists of al-Qaida.

Allawi: No. I believe very strongly that Saddam had relations with al-Qaida. And these relations started in Sudan. We know Saddam had relationships with a lot of terrorists and international terrorism. Now, whether he is directly connected to the September ? atrocities or not, I can?t ? vouch for this. But definitely I know he has connections with extremism and terrorists.

Allawi should know. He used to be one of Saddam's henchmen before he became a CIA tool.

"The White House has yet to deal with Allawi?s past. His credentials as a neurologist, and his involvement during the past two decades in anti-Saddam activities, as the founder of the British-based Iraqi National Accord, have been widely reported. But his role as a Baath Party operative while Saddam struggled for control in the nineteen-sixties and seventies?Saddam became President in 1979?is much less well known. ?Allawi helped Saddam get to power,? an American intelligence officer told me. ?He was a very effective operator and a true believer.? Reuel Marc Gerecht, a former C.I.A. case officer who served in the Middle East, added, ?Two facts stand out about Allawi. One, he likes to think of himself as a man of ideas; and, two, his strongest virtue is that he?s a thug.?
