Good question especially considering how poor vonage's intl service to India is.

If you have a phone jack upstairs and downstairs, just plug your vonage box into the phone jack and the whole house is live (disconnect the old wiring from the street first).

It really depends on how good the bandwidth is on their end. I do a lot of internationl and it can be very good or it can be poor. If the person your calling is doing downloads or otherwise using a lot of bandwidth it hurts the connection.

If Vonage was 19.995 I'd try it. Otherwise I'll stick to packet 8. I see COMPUSA is offering PACKET 8 sign up and equipment free after rebate. A 60 dollar value.

ill be calling a local landline number in India.. not a packet8 number..

Currently if you call them up to sign up, they offer a 9.99 deal if you sign up for the $24.99 plan (didnt check on the 14.99 plan)
- 1st month free (24.99)
- Waived Activation fee (29.99)
- Only pay S&H for the Linksys router/phone adaptor (free router to borrow - you have to return when you cancel service).

With the referral from a friend you get one month free (24.99) but they told me the $30 Activation still applies along with the S&H fees.

If you buy your own Phone Adaptor, Linksys Wireless router with Vonage Phone Adaptor, or Linksys wired router w/p.a., you get $50 rebate towards the purchase of the item but they said you dont get a free month (24.99) and you have to pay for activation (30).

Anyone with more info, please share.
