Has anyone had any regular success faxing multiple pages? I have the old cisco adapter and getting more than 1 page to fax is usually impossible. Wondering if it's the Cisco adapter or just Vonage.

Did you read the thread? I don't even know if I should waste my time answering such a question.

The free ipod thing was a marketing scam. This is AT users helping out other AT users who might be interested in switching to Vonage's telphone service. If someone here is going to sign up anyway, this way the new user gets a free month, and the person referring gets two.

I really am at a loss to see how you can think this is remotely like the ipod thing.

Did you think before you posted?

I asked a valid question, you were the one that overreacted and resorted to immature insults. Anyhow, I see how this might be a bit better than a free ipod thing, at least both parties get something for the referral. Maybe I'll start an official ING Direct savings account referral thread, both parties benefit from referrals there as well.

Well good luck to you and your referrals, I'm out of this thread.

Hey, if you think I "resorted to immature insults", could you point them out please? I pointed out that your question was a bit out there. You don't think so, fine, but nowhere did I use any insults.

Hey does anybody use their Vonage box with a router? I have a Netgear WGT624 and I'm wondering if it's a PITA to get it set up with a Vonage box...

I use mine with the Linksys router. Works perfectly fine. You will need to open a few ports in your router.

Same here. Vonage suggests their box in front of the router, but it apparently works fine with it behind.

Odd. I had to hard reset my router and I never bothered to re port forward the ports and it works fine.

Vonage claims it's needed for "special features". Maybe for standard service it's uneeded. i had a dial tone before forwarding the port, but forwarded them anyway.

I don't forward any ports to my vonage box and it works just fine.

Do you guys have the Vonage box in front of the router or behind? If you have it behind, you won't need to forward any ports.

If it's in front of the router, you wouldn't be able to forward any ports anyways.

My box is behind my router and I still don't need to forward any ports. Everything works perfectly fine (cept for the INS issue I have which is stated in another thread )

why would you put it behind your router? i don't see any benefit to doing that, your just wasting a port.

Not really. You don't want to hook up the vonage box directly to your modem. I've heard nothing but bad things as far as bandwidth usage goes.

Well, I have it in front for the time being, and I'm not experiencing any bandwidth problems...what have you heard? I have no loss of signal quality either while talking on the phone and d/ling through BT.

I'm going to be putting behind the router soon. Anyhow, that's how Vonage suggests you hook it up.

Because if you want to forward ports for certain programs, or use any of the router settings, they don't work right with the Vonage box in front.

The switch that's built into the router divides the bandwith intelligently, so by having the vonage box plugged into the router, the switch includes it as part of your home network and divides the bandwith between all devices appropriately.
With vonage in front of your router, it can take all your bandwith before the switch get a chance to divvy it up.

i really want to sign up. but 1) still cannot release my landlind, I don't trust comcast enough. 2) again, w/ comcast, my upstream is only 12-15KB/s... just.. doesn't seem like enough. And finally.. is VOIP going to get taxed soon, what the hell is going on with all this regulation crap

Your Comcast upstream has to be higher than that... If it works on 128K up DSL, ANY cable broadband should be plenty. Does your internet go down a lot? Why can't you release your land line? The VQ with Vonage is better than any landline I've used....

I'll worry about the taxing when and if it happens. There is tax now, but it's only like $1/mo.

Yeah, I'll deal with tax when it happens, will still probably be cheaper than my previous landline.
You sure that's your upstream bandwidth??? have you checked at dslreports speedtest lately??
