The reviews seem to all agree that it's stayed a little too faithful to the graphic novel. However, as a big fan of the graphic novel, I doubt this with bother me heavily. I have Friday tickets for a 10 PM showing in digital.

Avoid reading this review if you haven't read the comic. Out of the four posted, this is the only one that spoils the end of the movie (literally... even makes sure to point out that it occurs at the climax).

EDIT:

Heh, now that I finished reading the review, it spoils even more at the bottom .

From what I've read in various sources, some people complain about poor acting from some actors (Silk Spectre and Ozymandias). It seems that another comment is how some of the background story in the comic just doesn't provide the same feel that it did before... this mostly being the whole Cold War aspect and how that doesn't have much relevance to us anymore.

In a sense, it sounds like the complaints probably won't bother fans too much, but "fresh blood" won't necessarily enjoy it so much I guess.

I'm hoping to finish the book before I see the movie, so far I'm about half way through.

I have a feeling I'll want to know the full story in order to better enjoy the movie.

Well, the movie has a very narrow audience (which few reviewers are likely to fall in), so obviously overall its not going to do all that well. 300 was a terrible movie from and sort of objective view and it did well at teh box office, I'd imagine this movie will do the same. The acting and plot in a movie can be laughable and it can STILL be enjoyable.

I intend to see it and while I would like to see it in the theaters, I have kids and a hobby so that isn't happening. I'll be very excited when the DVD comes out however.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Not as good as TDK, but I left very satisfied.

I felt it could've been shortened by 30 minutes.

Never read the book.

********************

Some people may find some of the stuff below spoiler-ish, although it's nothing too serious

********************

I thought the movie was fun and definitely had a bit of action tossed in by Snyder. But you know what one thing (that most will probably see as insignificant) that bothered me? Laurie didn't smoke. Now, I knew she wouldn't do this coming into the movie. I heard in an interview that they had trouble getting the studio to let The Comedian smoke. I think it's an issue with the studio thinking that they can't market a superhero that smokes or they may be seen as pushing smoking onto kids... which is fucking ludicrous.

But anyway, the part that bothered me with that is when she sets fire to the basement. I mean, she just pushed a button with a fire icon for no real reason because in the comic, she was looking for a way to light her cigarette (a silly reason, but it works). In a way, I think it bothered me, because I heard that Ackerman's acting wasn't that great, but I thought that scene threw her character off a bit. Eh, who knows.

I didn't like how they revealed the secret to Laurie either... I like how the comic left it "open-ended" but obvious so you had to pick up what the answer was, but they didn't make it hard by any means. Yet, while they discussed it in the comic, you kind of wondered in a way and then at the end it becomes obvious.

I took work off (today) so I wouldn't have to worry about getting home at 3:30AM and having to go to work the next day.

When you make a statement like this, elaboration would be nice .

I just saw it, they made a pretty good adaptation, but

*spoilers*

they should've kept the multidimensional aliens (to clarify, NYs devastation was blamed on Jon in the film), I mean the whole premise is pretty wacky already so why not? Also, Adrian (aka Ozzy) was way too creepy; he looked like a bad guy from the outset, but in the, ahem, "graphic novel," he was a very likeable guy.

In all, the movie was very true to the source material, and it didn't pull any punches, it was really more graphic than the graphic novel was.
