I went to the midnight showing and it was really disappointing. I knew there had to be changes from the book to make it work on film, but the modified plot was terrible and didn't really make any sense. The story is just too complex to be able to squeeze it into a 2.5 hour movie, the book is really character driven and there just wasn't enough time to get in all the necessary scenes to properly develop the characters. Rorschach was done best, but I feel like he was still missing a few integral bits. The ending doesn't justify the Comedian losing it in the beginning, it'd take something a lot more fucked up than what happened to make him cry like that. His character was really well played, but the two important things he did didn't seem to really fit into the movie (the rape thing seemed like an afterthought). The action scenes were all pretty boring, with the exception of Rorschach's prison scenes which were probably the best part of the movie, they were absolutely perfect. The acting was good all around and it looked really pretty, but the plot was weak and the characters weren't developed enough to carry the movie. The ending was absolutely terrible, and it seemed really dragged out (with the exception of Roschach's final scene which was amazingly done).
