I was gonna post saying that I wasn't too impressed with Brazil's play during the 1st half, but then they scored twice.

Chile looked really good for about 35 minutes, they just didn't capitalize on the chances they had. Can't do that at this level. There was no doubt Brazil was going to score and once they did, it just relaxed them and opened up the game even more.

I think MLB also disallows replays on things like strike out. I don't think football should have any replays in the stadium. Riot is frequent without one, with a replay you are basically guaranteeing there will be riot.

Eh, I see your point but a single missed call in baseball (especially if it is just a strike) does not seem to do as much damage as a missed call in soccer. An umpire invalidating a two-run homer 3 times in 3 different world series games seems more akin to what the lack of technology is doing in the world cup.

I was referring to replay on the big screen during the game. I think there should be one video challenge.

Gallaraga lost a place in history due to a botched call this year when an umpire got the call wrong. It definitely can be damaging.

Not having replay in sports, in some capacity, makes zero sense to me anymore. We all have instant replay and see the correct calls for major moments, there is no reason it

Yes, you do need to be careful about how it is implemented, but for soccer, adding a guy or two on the sideline watching the play on a monitor would be fine. I mean when the calls are controversial and worthy of review, players spend a tonne of time complaining and delaying the game anyway, so this could all be done in the same time frame. Think of the Mexico game; while they were running around complaining, the call would have already been reviewed and corrected.

In other cool story bro news, I went to the park on Saturday with about 15 friends and we held a scrimmage on the turf (The city has pretty much rid the park of natural grass). Bad idea. We had a person fall and because it was a cool summer night, some of the water in the turf had frozen. The rubber pieces shred through his knee cap. Ugly stuff.

You do bring up the main point though. Soccer clocks don't stop (I think) for any reason. So now the "90" minute game which in reality is really 93ish minutes due to theatrics could be how long with playback/review.

Personally, I would much rather see a few more roaming referees on the field to try to cover more angles and stop the damn diving/off-action penalty crap than add instant replays.

If they can't do that then institute a required "injury" time where the team plays down for a set time if the player is not immediately up on their feet. Also adding in a penalty time for each yellow card given where that team plays down a man for a set time could limit the number of penalties and diving.
