At least at the bar I was at, the females working there were as hot That and a hot girl working for Miller came around and was trying to promote Peroni beer and was buying everyone a round. Too bad Peroni is not a beer I like. Tastes like I'm drinking beer that has been soaking in frito corn chips or really watery grits. That taste is just nasty in my opinion for a beer.

Look at the 0:16 mark...hard to see, but that's when he hits him with the elbow.

yeah, that's the exact replay we got. the bird's eye view with poor angle is the only shot that includes the supposed hit. ...it still isn't obvious. from that angle, he could just as easily be diving after a near-swipe. :\

shame the close-up starts only when the spanish player falls.

why would they be promoting Peroni, an Italian beer, at Spain v. Portugal?

also, Peroni does suck ass. Are they distributed...or now owned by Miller?

I have no clue. But I think it has to be now imported by Miller and probably is one of their few European imports. Meaning it's the world cup, europeans are playing games, so lets promote a european beer. Who cares if it's an italian beer and their loser asses are already knocked out That's just a guess on my part though about their reasoning.

The games are on pretty early here (late game starts at 11:30 AM) so we've mainly been drinking caesars. Unfortunately they are so freaking inconsistent from bar to bar, you never really know what you are going to get. :\

Brazil is going to win, you can bet on that.

In fact, I am betting money that Brazil will win.

IK'm not because they have been underperforming

arg or spa, ned might be able to sneak one out, but I doubt it

Oranje have been underperforming as well, should be an interesting game

At least they sent these bozo's packing but it's too late, the 2010 World Cup is a joke.

FIFA drops refs who made biggest mistakes

http://g.sports.yahoo.com/soccer/wo...iggest-mistakes--fbintl_ro-badrefs062910.html

The World Cup’s worst referees were sent packing on Tuesday as soccer’s governing body tried to cut down on the glaring errors that have plagued the tournament.

Koman Coulibaly, the referee who gained notoriety for controversially denying the United States a potential game-winning goal against Slovenia in the group stage, was sent back to Mali without having refereed another match since his glaring mistake 11 days ago.
The 10 referees deemed to be the worst in the tournament were excluded from the final list of elite officials who will be in contention to take charge of the all-important quarterfinal rounds onward.

All 10 packed up their things from the secret refereeing base near Pretoria

Another referee to be sent home was Stephane Lannoy of France, a leading European official who was originally expected to take charge of key matches late in the tournament. But Lannoy’s fate was sealed when he sent off Brazil’s Kaka against the Ivory Coast for an innocuous challenge.

The cuts are part of FIFA’s bid to drastically improve refereeing standards after a series of incidents that infuriated fans, players and coaches alike.
“Naturally we deplore it when we see the evidence of referees’ mistakes,” FIFA president Sepp Blatter said. “Our goal is to improve the overall quality.”

If FIFA cared about good calls they would do what we all know they should.

Add a squad of refs to the field. Or have at least 2 to cover each side. Enforce instant replay for every goal to make sure it is a goal. Enforce instant replay for any card being issued.

Instant replay need not be like the NFL where the official has to go over to the sidelines to watch something. Just have someone off field watching the game and can radio over to the head official on the field the actual call. This way game play interruption is at a minimum to no interruptions at all.

Then FIFA can start bringing up the level of play of the actual players. All intentional flops are automatic red cards. The second red card for intentional flopping is a permanent ban from all FIFA sponsored events.

Done and simple. It would bring up the quality of the game and the game play from the players.

I'm hoping for a Brazil/Germany final.

My thinking (hope) is Brazil beats Uruguay in the semis, and Germany beats Spain. Spain will take 3rd, Germany takes the cup. I'd actually love to see Brazil fuck it up and Uruguay proceed to the final, but I don't think that'll happen. Christ, Ghana would be even better. :awe:

Argentina/Germany may end up being the most interesting match of the tourney. I dunno if my hopes are realistic, but I'm rooting for my ancestral homeland.

My prediction is that it'll be an awesome game.

this.

I think Argentina is the better attacking team and give them the edge

germany has got their shit together and screwed themself up so many times

they seem to to love to tackle hard and get cards and that could be a huge liability now.

I would LOVe to see Nederlands make the semi over brazil, because it would be amazing.

but the final will be ned or brazil,I dont think Uruguay or ghana can make it.

Ghana doesnt have the foot skills or ball control. but they are fast, maybe fast enough to top Uruguay

other semi I think Spain v Arg. Not sure who I would bet on between those two. Argentina might have a worse backline, they have made some serious errors in every game so far

they are cutting refs b/c there are less games to officiate. This is a move of necessity that will happen as any tournament progresses, not some form of "justice" that FIFA is offering to the fans.

They're trying to spin this as a move towards dealing with poor officiating is stupid. Of course, it would be reasonable to imagine that they would choose the least qualified officials to stay with the tournament, based on recent performance.
