This was the sentiment at the pub where I watched the game. All of the US fans cheered when the game ended. All of the Brits were pissed.

Our goalkeeper might as well have turned around and booted the ball into the back of his own net. What a d*ckhead and I'm so p*ssed off that he effectively handed the draw to the US on a silver platter.

I hope this is the last game he plays in the Cup, he's a goddamn liability to the team. Mistakes like this should not happen when he has been chosen from others to represent our country as being the best that we offer.

USA didn't play bad, they had chances against an excellent England team. That said, England was clearly the better team and the U.S. is lucky to come away with a draw. Our defense is a serious liability I think. There were a lot of balls that just slipped through because our defenders were caught out of position. England didn't do a very good job of finishing.... or Howard played awesome. Perhaps a bit of both. I really hope both of these teams make it through their group though.

Uh, are you confusing the Battle of Hastings with England's victory (1966) or am I just missing a sophisticated joke about that?


And England was the better team for the most part. I'll take the goal, but especially in the second half it seemed like England was playing much better than us. There were too many times when I thought we were going on an attack only for a pass to be off target, ending up out of bounds or in the control of England.

On a side note, it would be pretty sweet if both England and US advance and face each other again.
