You guys have no idea how saddened I am with the fact that my country misses the third world cup in the row :/ it is way too competitive for African nations ... they get like 5 spots for all 54 countries in Africa...this year they get 6 because South Africa is hosting... I am not sure this is fare, maybe... just sucks not to be able to cheer on my country. I will be cheering for the US however and they better f**cking make me proud this time... last time was an embarrassment after so much hype. I do believe they have the heart to beat England, Algeria, and that other country (can't remember) ... and that is what I love the most about US team is they play with a lot of heart and pride.

thats because as a whole, the continent of africa plays shitty soccer imho

dependent mostly on having the fast player on the field ala George Weah

power soccer just doesnt cut it on the world level

USA has to make up for skill with heart drive and desire

and too often lately we seem to lack atleast one of those qualities on random game days

Ireland got indeed dicked in that game

but this is nothing new, if you arent a major Euro Club or Brazil they could just a shit about you, like putting off the Decision on Italy's match fixing so players that cheated in Serie A games could still play in the world cup

Big time... I would almost rule Germany out for winning the cup... Ballack is their experienced leader, kick taker, and captain I believe ... so yeah they're out.

They are out anyway - they really don't have a great team.

Argentina's a big wild card in my opinion. Tons of talent, but an inexperienced egotistical lunatic is running the team.

Ballack being out helps Germany; his rapidly decreasing quickness has been a liablity for a while now, and German players tend to try to run everything thorugh him when he's on the field.

Maybe he throws tantrums if the offense doesn't revolve around him.

While I feel for him personally, I'm happy he's out. This will take the shackles off of many German players.

fact: i was friends with oguchi onyewu in high school. he really wasn't all that great back then... i mean, he was good, but not a superstar or at least national team good. he's a beast now and i'm glad someone tapped into his potential after he graduated.

"And Keane pointed out that controversial decisions went Ireland's way in the qualifying campaign, not least a harsh penalty award against Georgia which helped them to clinch a 2-1 qualifying win in February.

"There was one match against Georgia where Ireland got a penalty and it was one of the worst decisions I've ever seen which changed the whole course of the game.

"I don't remember the FAI after the game saying we should give them a replay."

yay world cup, go USA and Greece! I really wish soccer were more popular here in the states, if it was the big sport colleges got all amped about instead of gay ass football the USA would have a much stronger national team.

I am not sure you ever watched any African team play nationally...besides their style of play has nothing to do with the FIFA rules. The rules were there before they had any style...

Bullshit. What is the big deal about Ballack anyway? He is just an average player PERIOD. He's played medicore football for Chelsea too.

Germany does not have any big players now, and Ballack ain't going to help them ??? Yea, right what a big loss.

How is a guy that's been to two world cups not going to help you? I never said Ballack was anything more than average player... he is a leader however, kick taker, and experienced captain ... I can't say I don't want him on my team
But again this is the world cup someone else will shine....

Every time i start to believe this, Germany ends up going to at least the semi finals. I don't think the team is that good this year but i know they will play better than they should and have a decent showing.

/always roots against Germany
//Unless they are playing Italy
