You know, more teams should have thought of this instead of going in with that attitude of "lets score a goal and defend"... Goals have been really important in this world cup (Look at ghana...)

TEN? You didn't get that right. They don't need more than 9 in all possible scenarios where Portugal loses, and possibly less. They are currently 9 behind, but for all practical purposes they are (at most) 8 goals behind since Portugal will have to go -1 on their GD if they are to lose. If Portugal loses like 3:4 or something, then CIV needs 9 goals, because Portugal would advance on the basis of more goals scored, at 2:3 they are tied (with 8:0 from CIV), less than that, and CIV only needs an 8 goal victory to go through. It's quite unlikely though, they really need help from Brazil to beat Portugal by 3+, to give CIV a reasonable chance.
