Lol people saying Algeria could have won the game, did we watch the same game? USA had about 5 half goal opportunities that an experienced team like, say, Brazil, wouldnt waste

Thats all it was, USA's inexperience was the only thing holding them back from owning Algeria by 4 or 5

Algeria couldn't have won? US couldn't punch it in and Algeria had what seemed like an easy opportunity right before the end. Shots on goal and momentum mean nothing if you don't capitalize and also go brain dead on defense at the same time.

As destroyed as they appeared to be, Algeria nearly pulled it off. Credit to the Algeria goalie for keeping them in the game imo.

The fact that the technology for them to do that has been around FOR YEARS and they still won't implement it and incorporate it into the rules just proves how fucking shady FIFA and soccer really is. Refs have WAY WAY WAY to much control over the outcome of the game in soccer with almost no accountability. The last World Cup had shady as hell reffing(especially in the case of Italy vs Anyone), this time it's like they're actively seeking to screw certain teams.

The entire game looked like we easily deserved that game, yet couldn't get the score to agree.
91st minute goal is an insanely dramatic clutch escape from that game. Especially following the Slovenia game.

The World Cup? Not by any means we don't. All we need to do is, at the very least, garner the respect of the world for american soccer (and drum up some domestic US support for the sport along the way). I think we've come a good way in doing that

I don't usually watch soccer but had the game on as I packed up for a trip. Right before the winning goal, an Algerian player had the ball alone at the top of the box. Instead of trying to score, he passed for a weak header and Howard stopped it and got it up the field fast and BOOM goal.

The only thing Algeria was good at in that game was delivering knuckle sammies. Finally the ref gave the red at the end, should have gone to Yebda instead of Yahia, but man most of the calls were pure BS. When Donovan scored I kept expecting to hear some sort of whistle to recall the goal. Sorry, but as a long time soccer player I could tell that USA basically manhandled Algeria and deserved the win.
