we'd have to get past the quarterfinals first and uruguay looks pretty good

Both were good games to watch this afternoon. Australia kept pounding away and never gave up, and neither did Serbia. Germany got their goal and then went into total defense for the last 20 minutes or so. Kind of boring at the end but at least Ghana kept trying. Lucky German defenders have a part of their leg unintentionally in the way of damn near every shot on goal Ghana tried.

Among Uruguay/S.Korea/Ghana/USA whoever gets to semis will be a fairly big surprise of the world cup. And the others can be sorry for not taking a great chance to do that.
In the other 'pool' we have Germany, England, Argentina and Mexico, that's really tough.

Agreed. I think Uruguay is playing quite well right now and expect them to handle S.Korea and I think Argentina is going to win the whole tournament. Hopefully the US can get by Ghana...I'd be real happy with getting to the semis.

well, we've since learned that the French have been thrashing themselves, more or less.

Cards are wiped once, after the quarters are done.

Arjen Robben might play for Holland tomorrow, maybe he is the spark they need for some creative football, the knock out quarter should be bloody with Netherlands, Italy, Brazil, and Spain likely....that should make for some entertaining matches

sucks I had to watch the game in SD, but what an awesome match. sooooooo many close goals for the US in that one. algiers may have had most playing D, but the US went in to push hard and still tore them up.

to be fair, the Germans were dominant in that first game (sure...Aus), but Klose (sic?) went out early on some BS in game 2 and was out this match, and their other top player is injured, correct?
