Give a Phillies fan hope and we start cringing towards the heavens, fearful of the wrath that's surely soon to come from an angry and vengeful God.

Shane with bases loaded and a 2-0 count!

Burrell made it all the way to third . . . from second . . . on Pedro's single.

fingers are crossed.

I have been trying to explain to my wife what it means to be a phillies fan or a philadelphia fan in general, being anxious waiting for the bottom to fall out at any moment, she doesn't get it.

I hope they win this!!!

Way too true. A sense of deep, dark foreboding is bred in our bones.

'Tis true. The second time the Eagles made it to the Superbowl only to lose again... I think every Philly fan cried a little on the inside.

The ball hit's Hamel's index finger while he's trying to bunt . . . on a cold night, no less!

Looks miserable out there. It'd be funny to see it called for rain before 9 innings. Don't think that's ever happened before.

sigh, goddamn it, I hate the city of Philadelphia. I've visited there, and I've never seen a more collective group of angry/rude people in my life (aside from Seoul; Korea, and Boston..those two cities can go fuck themselves too).

This article just cements it.
In spite of the good vibrations, the inner Philadelphian ? the one who cheered when Michael Irvin got carted off the football field with a neck injury ? is always aching to come out in any form. Phillies fans this October are like pit bulls wagging their tails, seemingly rehabilitated until one false move turns them savage.

How else to explain a family member of a Rays? employee holing up in a bathroom stall during Game 3 because Phillies fans were pounding on the door and threatening him? Or a grade-school student getting beer poured on him. Or the seven-year-old granddaughter of Rays manager Joe Maddon being pelted with mustard packets?

I don't mind the team, but most of the fans and most of its citizens can go to hell. The citizens deserve no joy in life. fvck them. *flame suit zipped up and ready to go*

 We can say the same to you. You sound like a complete asshat of a fan.

That season was awesome, lthough, ittle Allen Iverson and a team full of defense. People don't remember or never knew that they had even BETTER team D with Ratliff who was both a pretty fair shot blocker AND MOBILE, so he was actively helping his forwards and guards on traps and double teams all over the court, than they more famously had with Dikembe clogging up the middle and wagging his finger on blocks.

The damndest thing is that, when Ratliff went down at mid-season, they came out and won five straight games with second and third string centers Todd MacCulloch and Nazr Mohammed before Larry traded for Mutombo.

That was a TEAM!

Edit: I never doubted the absolute heart of AI ever again. That dude has one massive organ (heart, perv).
