Mystique is rogue's adopted mother... she's actually Nightcrawler's real mom... i loved the scene with the two of them

11. I hate that they are bringing Phoenix in. When Phoenix arrives in the comic books, isn't it when there is that cheesy alien race? In the comics when Jean dies it's while saving the ship too right?
Yep.. The power of the Phoenix is the Guardian of the MKraan Crystal... held by the Shi'ar empire. In the comics, Jean 'dies' saving the XMen in a space shuttle from radiation from a comet (which is holding the MKraan Crystal, which contains the Phoenix. Because Jean is using enormous Telepathic powers to shield the ship, the Phoenix becomes aware of Jean

Things that bugged me:

1. phoenix - why so early
2. Prof. X - inconsistent powers, too weak
3. don't like the way deathstryke(sp?) died
4. mystiq stalking wolverine - why?

I thought it was FAR better then the first one (and I liked it a lot). Wolverine kicked a WHOLE lot of ass. Nightcrawler did too. The Special effects were GREAT, especially nightcrawler teleporting.

I saw the trailer for League of Extraordinary Gentleman too. Some of the CGI effects look REALLY cheesy.

Speaking of trailers, did any of you see the trailer for X2 before it started? I saw it at a drive-in so I don't know if it was just there but I thought it was pretty odd to show the trailer of the movie before the actual movie.

Actually I thought she was Psylocke when I saw her the first time.

I don't really think she died. She is probably going to be reborn into something alot more deadly. In the comics she looked much less "human", more metal. Yet another loose end they can use in the next movie.

It wouldn't surprise me if she returned. Then again most of what I remember is back in the early 90's when I was in my early teens.

Overall though, a great movie. Hopefully Marvel (sperman, hulk, daredevil,Xmen) doesn't blow it the way DC did with there Batman movie run. (exception being the 1988 movie)

She has to absorb the flying ability from someone else first. Remember how she got her white hair? It was when she absorbed Magneto's power.

I was surprised by the Colosseus bit.

I hope the next one has some Beast and Gambit whooping some people.

I wanna see Iceman do something. He was useless in this one, though he is just honing his skills. I wanna see him get around with ice.

Thought the movie was excellent (saw it twice already). Colossus's armor (which he used against the swat team) was bad ass. Wonder if the next movie will have Sentinels
in it.

i've been reading up on lots of the comic storylines (the movie intrigued me to do so). it's amazing how many things they completely changed from the original story to make a good movie.

Man, that was a great movie...so many things to say, but most have been covered already. One thing I really like from a film guy's POV, is that a lot of the movie had a female as the lead role, but most people didn't care or notice...you don't usually see people cheering for a lead female AND it being a good movie at the same time. Props to that...(Tomb Raider, anybody?)

And that asian girl was Jubilee? I guess the earings at the end make sense then...

Lastly, throughout the whole movie, I was in such shock that they toyed with the story like so much, but it really made for a good movie. It'd take like 10 episodes to adequately relate the basic X-Men universe.

Pyro went with magneto and mystique. You saw him in the helicopter at the end. It was pretty obvious he was thinking about changing sides.

The wolverine chick was Lady Deathstrike. Apparently she had Wolverines healing ability, hense the adimantium skeleton (no human could survive it, because basicly they cut you open at every point to insert the metal). I don't know if she was in the comics or not.

2) Kelly Hu played that female Wolverine. Apparently she had the healing powers that Logan had, which allowed for the adamantium to be fused inside of her. That is what Stryker meant when he said "I thought you were the only one. I was wrong" <or something along those lines>.

btw Kelly Hu was in the tv show Martial Law before. She's very attractive!

Yeah, she nicely offset Sammo Hung. And omg, that 2-piece she was wearing.......wow. Uriko's fightscene with Logan was great, so much violence. Some of it was a bit too fast tho, imho. Too bad they had something going at one point in the story line...and yeah, wtf is up with Mystique getting on Wolverine? I loved when she morphed into Rogue. Talk about mindgames, heh.

I think the asian girl in Professor X's class in the last scene is Jubilee.

X2 kicks ass! It was better than the first I thought (strange for a sequel). You guys have covered most of the stuff but I have some random thoughts.

Why are you guys wondering about Jubilee? She was even in the first one (just a quick shot of her sitting in class - look for the big hoop earings).

Man, I missed the Beast and Gamit mentions.... but some people were talking in the movie .

I wish they would have done more with Collosus (spelling?). Also would have been cool to see iceman ride his ice wave thingy.

I understand why they changed the storyline for pheonix etc. Do you know how many movies it would take to do all 40 years of X-men storylines? I was surprised that they did pheonix at all for that reason. I think it is kind of the same way with Rogue. They are trying to make it somewhat "realistic". (as in keeping out the Ms. Marvels and the Shi'-whatever alien empire.)

I think they need to do more villians though. Juggernaut anyone?

Man, I can't wait for the next one.

Some answers to questions and comments. Sorry about not quoting, I am lazy!

1. Good point about Rogue getting the white hair from Magneto! Very good catch. I believe she gets flying from Ms. Marvel so that's why I was asking when that was.

2. The character Kelly Hu plays is Lady Deathstrike. She is in the comics. She is supposed to be Wolverine's wife and then Wolverine kills her father so she is out for revenge! What I don't understand is how she got healing. Wolverine is a mutant because of his healing abiilty. The rest (adamantium and claws) are because of scientific experiments.

3. When X-Men started doing the Phoenix saga in the comics I thought it was really cheesy. The alien race is really corny like from the Archie comics era. I am very sad they introduced it.

4. Wolverine's Revenge is a video game on all platforms.

5. I wonder if they'll bring in Psylocke?

6. Not sure why made Pyro go bad, but it makes sense since Pyro is *supposed* to be bad.

7. I thought the first episode clearly followed the X-Men universe where as X-2 drifted a lot more (but not too much thankfully).

Everyone ask your questions so we can answer them. That way everyone can learn. When you know the comic book links, it's like a whole new world of seeing the movie.

BaDaBooM hits it on the head. So many story lines, so little time to tell them in a movie. I am thinking they are going to hit on the major story lines in the series. Realistically, how many could they do? Sure people who are into the minute of the series mgiht ask why this and not this, but given the time frame of a movie, you can only do so much and artisitc license is taken. Example: Jean Grey saving the Blackbird in the movie when it was a spaceship in the comic. Different place/thing, same meaning. She sacraficed herself for the others.

How they'll explain the Phoenix remains to be seen. Will it be a case of spontanious evolution or something else?

As far as character developement, again with so many characters in the movie, there isn't time for real deep character developement. Though I wouldn't mind them making a six hour movie to do it

As far as Pyro being a good guy. He wasn't really. He was the one who couldn't keep his cool when they were being hassled in the cafeteria. Also with the police outside of Iceman's house. He was already on the "dark side". Meeting up with Magneto gave him the push. But given that the "bad guys" aren't stereotypical bad guys, the line is fairly gray.

Anyone else get a lugh out of the Nsync playing on Cyclops's radio when Pyro turned it on? They portray him as a pretty boy/preppy so I thought it was funny.

bah, i don't think they can bring deathstrike back.... its solidified now =( since she has healing powers, that must be some kinda torture.
too bad, she looked damned hot in her outfit.

i hope they use the kids' powers more in the next movie (rogue, jubilee, syren, iceman, collosus, pyro, etc.)

also, anyone know who that kid with the glasses changing channels was supposed to be?

oh, good question. I was wondering that too along with who the kid with the blue forked tonge is supposed to be. Are they just filler mutants? I can't image they would need any with having so many actual characters to choose from.
