So is that on the box, or easily accessible/readable at the back window on the box.

As in the UK it seems absolutely no stores have these things on the shop floor, and we have to ask the person in the shop to look for one for you in the back.

I thought the last two digits just meant the region the console was made for, i.e 05 is the EU.

So it appears that the lot # and/or manufacture date is not as important an indicator of a unit being jasper as the actual amp reading (which is what I went by).

Absolutely! Current rating is a guarantee that it's a Jasper IMO. Unless somebody screws up the labels at the plant, but that would be a total fluke. That information is unfortunately not as easily accessible from the outside of the box (although it can be done with box in hand and a lack of store employees around).

@JasperHunter regarding post #1
I think the link is incorrect and why 841X wasn't it 843X?!

Provide me with a link pointing to 0843X being Falcon and I'll be happy to change the first post. It will have to include confirmation of some sort (kill-a-watt measurements, opening the system, or a pic of the power plug). Being labeled 14.2A and coming with a 175W PSU is not confirmation.

Thanks!

You'll have to move the console inside the box and peak through the little window that shows the serial number. If you move it just enough, you can see the last digit of the current rating. In this case, you'll see ".1A" instead of ".2A". It's not easy, but it can be done.

The reason I say you don't want employees around is that it looks mighty suspicious, but it is in no way illegal, immoral, etc. that I can tell.

Would you happen to have a link to a picture that shows the sticker that i'll be trying to look at on the console when it is not in the box?

that way i can efficiently do it since i'll know which direction to push the box before employees chase me out haha.

I apologize for the question, but how exactly can u push it so that you can see the amperage rating?

It is far and it's not easy, but others tell me they have done it. I haven't tried yet, but will be as soon as appropriate lot #s show up around here.

I've never owned a 360, but with Jasper out I'm thinking about picking up a Arcade. I've been holding out on getting a 360 until Jasper finally arrived, and I've got a few questions.

Are the Jaspers still in the Arcade holiday bundle (included Sega Tennis, and the 5 Arcade games).

How easy is it to spot a Jasper from the outside of the box? Are the lot numbers, etc... on the box or do I need to look at the console?

sure! on the back of the box, it has lego batman across the top half, banjo kazooie - nuts and bolts on the bottom left half and madagascar on the bottom right half. i can take pictures if you want!

again, 6 things to know its a jasper:

-manufactured 10-23-2008 or later (it absolutely CANNOT be 10-22-08 or earlier)
-lot 0843x (mine had 084305 as the last few digits if that helped)
-it does NOT come with a physical memory card, because its now built into the console
-psu now says 150W instead of 175W or higher
-power connector to the xbox is slightly different
-if you want a 360 arcade, make SURE it has sega superstars tennis + 5 XBLA cover on the front of the box, and lego batman, banjo kazooie nuts and bolts, and madagascar on the back of the box.

anything else you guys need?

edit: clarification.

So are just arcades going to have the memory card built in now? Or will the others have them too?

Just went to Fry's in San Jose, CA @8pm

Newest Arcade was 842 (FDOU)
Newest Pro was 840X (FDOU)

However, there were several 843X Elites. I was excited at first, but after checking the Amp rating, it still said 14.2. Perhaps they haven't updated the chassis for the Elites yet, but I didn't buy one.

For checking the Amp rating, my trick is to put my finger under the third layer of cardboard (on the long side of the hole) and lift it up. Then I tilt the box so that the xbox slides to the right as far as possible. At that time, I can see the Amp rating just barely (only need the last digit, but usually I can see 4.2). In fact you can bend the cardboard on the left side pretty easily (I did it once by accident) and it makes it even more legible.

Model: Elite
Batch: 843X
Team: FDOU
Amps: 14.2
Date: 10-22-08 (I think, it was around this day, but I forgot as I looked at about 20 boxes)

secretanchitman, I beg to differ about the manufacture date. As posted previously, I have an arcade that was manufactured on 10/18 and is a jasper. Also, my unit is lot # 0842x and team is FDOU. All the other points you made where acurate in my case.

Sorry for the delay in response to some questions posted since my last post, but I've been busy playing around with my new Xbox! (My first 360). But anyway, the way I determined the amperage was by sticking my finger in the slot on the top of the box and pushing the xbox to the closest side. By doing this I was able to see the 12,1 on the opposite side of the direction I was pushing.

There where no arcade units in stock and the Walmart clerk knew there where units in back. I told her I was interested in a newer model and checked right in front of her. So don't be afraid, it's your hard earned money your spending!

In response to joe8888's question, the last 5 digits of my units serial # are 84205.

yeah, i meant to post about that last night... i got my previous 360 and it had 10-22 on it, lot 0843x FDOU, but it was not a jasper. it led me to believe that *most* of the arcade units are not jasper, unless its 10-23 or later. yours is definitely one of the exceptions.

I don't think we have enough evidence at this point to set specific dates that are definitely Jasper vs Falcon. Clearly we have some 0842 FDOU Jaspers and some 0843 FDOU Falcons, which of course is leading to much confusion. The current rating is the way to go to be certain. I would guess that 0844 will be all Jasper, but we won't know for sure until we have many of them in hand.

I just got home from Wal-Mart with a 0843X FDOU 10-21-2008 Jasper. It has the 12.1A on the console and the 150 W PSU.

Now I'm off to return my 0843X FDOU 10-22-2008 Falcon that came with the 175W PSU, 14.2A on the console, and the Falcon power connector.
