Hi Guys, please excuse me if I ask a question that has been answered. I think I have read every page, but may have missed a post.
Will this added 256mb be on every SKU? Will the Elites and Pro's also have it?
Also, have any Elite Jaspers been spotted?
They chance of me being able to get the LOT number before purchase may be slim as the game stores in the UK don't let anyone near the boxes until just after you hand the cash over. Still gonna try though, might get a sympathetic employee.
Many thanks to everyone for all the contributions.
I thought I found a bunch of Elite japers in San Jose Frys.
They were 843x october 21 but they all were 14A.
So I'm pretty sure they are not Jasper.
The Man. date doesn't mean much because I saw some 843x Arcades
with a Man. date of 10-15-08 that were 12A Jasper.

Those Elites could be Jaspers, despite the 14.2A label. At least one Jasper has been found that was labeled as such. Similarly, many early Falcons were labeled 16.5A (like Zephyr).

You've said that before, but I don't think it's true. There's no reason they can't use one motherboard for all three systems and just have different population options. Leave the memory off, maybe put on a 0-ohm configuration resistor to tell the BIOS/firmware that it's not populated.Originally posted by: JasperHunter
MS will probably include the internal 256MB on all systems since it would probably cost them more to make two different motherboards.
As I just said, they wouldn't have to.Originally posted by: peachy001
I know what you mean about them not needing to add the on board 256MB, but I just can't see them fooling about with more than 1 motherboard.

I suspect the factory might have reused a metal case from another xbox. I bought this new from Target, but i believe it had been opened and they never removed the dvd or they put fresh tape on the dvd?????
I had an original xbox360 that died just a few days ago. I am going to add some more airflow to this one and maybe I will get a little more than life out of this one than my old one did.

I have one of those. Before I return it, how can I tell if it's not a Jasper?
I get a reading of 89w at the set up screen.

Thanks to everyone who has worked on this thread. I've been lurking and gathering info for weeks. First at PI and then here. My March 2006 Core RROD'd on Wednesday. Coffin is on its way but I've been wanting to upgrade to HDMI for a while now, so I've had my eye out for an Arcade Jasper.
I just got back from Target with what I believe to be a Jasper Arcade pack.
Store: Target
Location: Anderson, SC
TEAM: FDOU
LOT NO:0842X
No MU included in Box
12A on 12V According to stickers on back of console (was able to see through SN window to confirm this before buying - 1 Probable Jasper still in cabinet)
Sticker Type: "Value Bundle 2008 E"
Power Port: Broken "Bar" at top. Matches "Jasper" model in the diagram.
AC Adapter: 175W.
Question. Is there any reason why I would care whether I get the 150W or the 175W? Is there any kind of noise difference? I've seen a few people say that they'd prefer the 150 but they didn't really say why. When I get my Xenon back from MS it will probably be an OPUS anyway and the 175W will allow me to use the power supplies interchangeably between the two units.

As I said before, I agree that you'll see the 256meg on all consoles. I just don't see it being caused by the logistics of having different motherboard layouts (which they wouldn't anyways) or different population options (which they've already done by not installing HDMI connectors on some boards which could have accommodated them).Originally posted by: JasperHunter
chdude3 - 256mb of flash is really really cheap these days. I firmly believe it would cost them more to make motherboards with varying amounts of flash than it will be to just include 256mb all around. As I said before, only time will tell.

The 150w PSU will be smaller, and might not get as warm due to the new vents. The heat generated by the PSU is really a non-issue though, since it is has nothing to do with the heat that the console generates. Size is the main thing, but the 175w will already seem much smaller to you than the beast that is the 203w PSU.
