**Official Xbox 360 Jasper Hunting Thread**

I am in chicago and I got one monday from Dell. It was 0836 and from their Kentucky distribution center.

Major letdown as they charge a 15% restocking fee. I am going to eat it as I want a jasper!

Remember me? The guy who bought TWO FALCONs cuz the boxes said 843X FDOU, 10-23-08? Well I still have those 2 bastards waiting to be returned.

But I just came back from Target in North Haven, CT with a 843 FDOU, 12.A, 150 supply, the works. I'm like "annoying customer here. I need to make sure the one in the case is what I want." It's an arcade sir! Yes yes but let me see it. Check. Check. OK this is it, I need another one too.

Anyways, I took the last one. This one oddly enough was born on 10-20-08 - 3 freaking days before my 2 Falcons I have to return. Also oddly, it's serial ends in 84305 (same as the 2 bastards I have to return).

Anyways - no physical memory card, just checked back of the console and the power supply. Haven't even taken the console out to examine it yet. Wanted to faithfully report.

And to fellow CT people - North Haven looks like this:

BB - 839X
CC - 842 (but 14.A)
Gamestop - out of stock
Target - I just took there last Arcade, so I imagine the next one's they get would also be Jasper.

And yes, this one did have the sticker that said Value Bundle E, with the XGX 000019 or whatever. Thanks everyone - time to actually examine the damn thing

I wish I was in your situation. At least you have a good chance of the stores getting new stock once they get a shipment. The Madison, WI Best Buys each have probably 50 Arcades on the shelves, but they're all old. They will not order more until the old ones are gone. So it could be a while in my neck of the woods.

The Target stores in DC still has Jaspers arcades, just walked thru a couple of them an hour ago. I could see the .1 thru the glass window. One of the stores had two and the other had 3.

Also to note: The inside of my Jasper (by flashlight) looks identical to the 2 Falcon's I have to return. By identical, I mean 2 flat lying black inductors with gold wire wrapping (or whatever that shit is) - and a sticker on the heatsink (I think it's a heatsink) that says blablabla..RevB.

SecretP I still have to return my 2 Falcons, and pick up another arcade (trying to send my best friend in Chicago one that won't break. He's too broke to buy a video game console). When I'm out and about trying to get the final arcade, the first place I'm going to check is the North Haven Target since they're the first place to have Jaspers. And when I check, I will absolutely let you know the deal. Also, I got a $20 gift card at the register for buying this one. No reason to go anywhere else with a promotion like that.

Checked some local stores today (Boston, MA):

Best Buy # 1 - only 1 arcade, pretty beat up box. doubtful that it was new enough to be Jasper. Couldn't see the label from outside the cage. Tons of Elite TMEM repacks there. No pros at all.
Best Buy # 2 - they finally put all their stock on the floor! Tons of Arcade 0843X FDOU, manuf 10-23-08, but all 14.2A labels. Not willing to take the chance/waste the time. Pros were all 0836 and Elites much older and mostly TMEM.
Circuit City - put out a bunch of Arcades, all 0842X FDOU, manuf 10-14-08, and all 14.2A labels. Elites were VERY old. Pros were 0837.
Target - Elite 0844X FDOU. Couldn't see the manufacture date or the current rating. I'm not willing to blow the money for an Elite, but man it was tempting. Arcade was on 0840X FDOU. There was a Pro that was clearly returned since, instead of the serial number, you saw the IR port through the box's window.

I think Black Friday really moved a lot of stock after all because these stores had been pretty far behind before. I'd really love to rummage through that Target's stock though!

edit - None of the above had the "Value Bundle 2008 E" sticker, including that 0844X Elite.

That's a pretty good solution feeding optical back to the receiver, but how did it get to your TV? If it came on HDMI then shouldn't your receiver already have the signal? Or maybe you are going straight to the TV and then sending audio to receiver. My receiver switches audio/video for everything, only cable to my TV is one HDMI.

HDMI by definition supports audio. So yes, if you want to play the audio out of your TV, go ahead - it will work fine. If you want to run it into the stereo - my solution is a option.

I am new here but have been reading the posts for some time. My elite is in for repair and I went into a BB and low and behold, they have the arcades with the jasper. I bought one and it is in fact legit. Lot 0843x, team FDOU and the manf date was 10/22/08. I live in SO Cal in Orange County. Bought this at the Mission Viejo store. The tip that is was in fact a new one was the 12V off to the side of the SN. Just thought I would let you all know if you are looking for one. BTW, it is a LOT quieter then any of the models. Including my elite.

you may lose the ability to send dolby digital to your receiver if you try to pass HDMI->TV and then TV->receiver via optical.

You can hack up an existing 360 cable to just use the optical out while using HDMI video to your TV. Google & AVSForum are your friend. There are a few disadvantages to this method if you don't go all out on it.

I personally found a used optical dongle for pretty cheap online.

Thanks Bakes, that would be awesome. Ideally the next week or so at that target is what I am shooting for, they have the $20 GC for the arcade this week and a $40 next week for the pro, so hopefully some pro's start to surface around these parts.

I know a lot of guys don't want to fork out the dough or think the Elite is worth it, but for me personally it comes with all the cables and components I need plus its sleek black matches my entertainment setup. I luv the black controller too! This is what I found by ordering thru Dell. Manufacture date 6-6-08 team TMEM. Very very old and very disappointing. They said that I can return it for free so I figured what the heck, I'll give a shot. Too bad since this deal is a really good one. Guess it is going to be awhile for them to get thru this stock, or maybe not since its such a great price. I've been ghosting on this site for awhile and learned alot about Jasper.

Been out looking around TAMPA, FL and this is what I've come across:

Sam's Club in South Tampa: 2 Pros, 2 arcades, 2 elites (not Jaspers)
-There was a really great bundle pack, Pro with Lego & Panda & Guitar Hero WT!!!! $329!

Target South Tampa: 2 Pros...838's
BB nr I275: About 200 Pros ranging from 832X's to 842X all 14.1A
Just received a new pallet 2 Dec
50 or so Elites ranging as far back as 713 to 832 all 14.1A
around 50 Arcades 842s but 14.1A
WalMart I275: NADA
CC: NADA
Target I275: NADA
AAFES: About 40 Pros(military appreciation bundle) Lego, Panda, some other lame game, 841X all 14.1

Going to hit some more stores tomorrow cause I don't work...yeah.

Off thread slightly, but anyone hear about MS SNAFU with a software update...Supposedly, MS coded something wrong and is shuts off the sound on the HDMI once your box gets updated via online updates. They are working on the fix.

Anyone hear about this....still trying to find the newsrelease.

I heard about the audio glitch. I've heard it's hit and miss with some. I never got the audio loss nor have I encountered anyone who suffered it.......


I talked to two BB employees tonight. Both of these stores had zero arcades on the floor. I asked both of them if they had any arcades in the back, and both said yes, but they weren't allowed to bring them out. They are saving them for Sunday. What a bunch of crap.......refusing to sell them so they can say they had some for the Sunday ads....

Bboyhacks, I don't know if your BB will get any more shipments. They had about 40 or so arcades...all 841X 14.2 amps......

I guess just a Watt reading of Dash and Halo 3, since those were the foundations for a Falcon reading, i have no doubt that you gotta a jasper, i guess im just more curious as to how many watts we're actually reduced by. No biggy if you dont have time, we already know what a jasper is finally. Its been a long wait since September lol.

Darrell - I got some good news and bad news for you.
The GOOD news is, that stock is moving very fast and that my Best Buy should have them in no time.
The BAD news is that out of all the new Arcade Lot 0842X FDOU, i didnt find one with the special "Value Bundle E" sticker, and i used the technique to look at the Amps by moving the console a little bit and most of them were 14.2a. Now I didn't look through ALL of their 0842's, so there may be a little gem in the pile. But i would give it another week or so and we may start to see some promising 0843's.

Idk what the other Best Buys our like, but it would seem our Florence Store is really moving through them quickly.

I'll keep you informed.

Still Looking for that elusive Pro Jasper. A sitting on an Arcade-but am willing to wait for a bit!

Went on a search the last several days:

Local Best Buy--Musta had a couple of hundred on the floor. Looked mainly for pro--saw 0841--not jasper. Probably pushed back that tab on 20 of them ooking for 12.1:laugh:

Circuit City: Elites-Old. Pro-same as BB above. The dude on the floor keep asking me if I needed anything--as I continued to move that carboard tab!

Target--Nada for the last 4 days.

Local Wall Mart-1 Pro old-think this is best bet as they are expecting a shipment.

I am in Northern VA--Will post as I continue looking!
