Havent heard about it, but my jasper with the software update works fine with audio over HDMI to an Onkyo 705 receiver.

I wanted an elite too but I went for the arcade instead since it was a jasper.
I got a black carbon faceplate and chrome dvd bezel off ebay for 5 bucks each.
HMDI cable I got off Monoprice for 5 bucks.
I bought the 60GB drive which is more than enough to hold all my games.
I'm only using 2GB so far. So its pretty close to an elite jasper for 80 bucks off the price.

unfortunately it dosent look like amazon has the japer yet. someone just reported that they got a pro bundle with a manufactoring date of 9/9/08 and it still has all the old ratings. someone else bought a arcade with an 839 lot number about a week ago. i guess amazon is still not yet a good option. maybe next month.....

I also want an Elite Jasper... I live in South Florida, and there are 3 Best Buys near by that I will be checking out this weekend... So far I have heard of 0843X and 0844X FDOU Elites that have not panned out, I wonder if there have been any 0843X or newer CSON Elites verified? Come on Elite Jasper! Where da heck are ya?!?

I picked up a Jasper Pro last night at Fry's in Sunnyvale, CA. There were two. The one I picked up was

There was another pro that was 842 and had the 12.1A and I believe the MFR date was the day before mine but my memory is reserved for other things. =)
No Arcades and I didn't check the Elites. Sorry!

Though I am not going to open it till Sunday. I heard there is a deal at Target this Sunday for $40 or $60 off the pro? I can't find solid evidence of this. Anyone have any?

I do have a kill-a-watt. I love energy efficiency and I measure much of appliances to see if it makes financial sense to upgrade. I am green to be green and for the green...hence my avatar. =)
I will take measurements next week but I don't have doubt this is a Jasper. I mean really, if all it takes is to look for some visual queues like the 12.1A, 150W brick, "Jasper" through the holes, then who is going to go out of their way to get a kill-a-watt and measure it when it's easier to look under the tab? But I'll do it anyways cuz it's fun to play with my kill-a-watt. I'm weird I know.

The UK Jasper hunt continues.

Just got some LOT numbers from my local Asda. I have been loitering around the electronics section for weeks hoping that it will be quiet enough for me to do some checking. They have an Elite 839x, and also a Pro that is 833. Both are team FDOU. I would have got the Arcades but I was in a bit of a hurry. So still no UK Jasper sighting yet. Going to work in a warehouse for one of the big retailers on Tuesday, so I really hope they stock the electronics in there. As soon as I catch sight I will report back.

Well, today was another hunting day..this time in Brandon, FL (Tampa)....

Best Buy in Grand Regency Shopping Center:
Arcade: 841X non-Jasper
Pros: 841X non-Jasper (tons of Pros!!!)
Elite: Guy picked up a 843X, but NOT a Jasper

Target in Brandon Shopping Center:
Arcade: BINGO only one....843X Team FDOU 2008-10-23 12.1A (I bought it & got a $20 gift card)
Pros: 83XX non-Jasper
Elite: 82XX

Sam's in South Tampa:
40+ Pro with Panda/Lego & Guitar Hero Legends of Rock
Sucks is there is no lot# stickers. You have to physically open the bundle box, and look at the Pro box inside. Chances are, they are 83XX as the other two I checked were.

It is a good bargain...$349. Considering Sam's sells GTLR for $77.66

So now I have a Jasper Arcade. Here's the kicker. My wife will not let me open it up until my birthday next Tuesday. So I will still be looking for a Pro Jasper.

To score a Jasper, you will have to find a store that does not have huge stock overhead. Best Buy orders in pallet lots. Target orders on demand and only order when they are out. So I would concentrate looking there.

you are more likely to get a refurb falcon than a new jasper.

I am Kevin (I still used the user name to the right though) from the old 8-bit board.

Just checking in with you guys with an important update from Long Island. Although I did not get Jaspers from my Dell purchases in early November (two 837's - one Arcade for my father and one Pro for me) I've been still checking in on things here, because eventually I will trade in one for a Jasper (likely in January when the Elite situation becomes more clear).

I have a few things to report to help aid anyone on this board who might be looking for Jaspers. After Jopopsy revealed his CSON was a PRO Christmas bundle, I went to two of my local Best Buys to check things out.

In the first location in Huntington, New York there were at least 80 XBOX bundles on the floor (stacked and on racks) of each flavor (Elite, Pro and Arcade). I was able to confirm at least 4 CSON Pro Bundles were Jaspers (including the very first box I looked at which was shocking :shocked with the lot 842x, Serial 843 (these were 10/22 build dates - 12.1A). The rest of the PRO's were FDOU up to 843x. This leads me to believe that the PRO Bundles may have started manufacturing Jaspers at the CSON plant first, unless we get other confirmation. Also probably have the 175W supply like Jopopsy's since they are the same date.

At the same store there was at least 3 arcade 843x's FDOU Arcade with 10/19 build that I confirmed were Jasper 12.1A.

Also disappointinly they had about 25 Elite boxes stacked, a couple even with the newest number I have ever seen. 844x and these were FDOU but 14.2A :disgust:

It is almost killing me that I did not wait a few more weeks, but things were up in the air, and I pulled the same as "Darrell" and dipped in the pool. Hopefully I can help someone else out, until I get mine at the beginning o f the year.

I'm sure you guys know that most of these stores are not holding back the newer inventory for any reason. Just to prove it that they have no idea what is what, each "Jasper" I found was at the front (or near the front) of the line of the box stacks, which means the employees are putting whatever new stock they get right out on the floor. It is not like a food store where they will put the new stuff at the back of the shelf to sell the old stuff at the front of the shelf.

Hoe this helps anyone on Long Island that is on this board.

I am getting so frustrated. I just went to a local BB that put out a crapload of arcades and pros.......836 pro's and 30-40 TMEM arcades. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???. Watching all these people in the thread getting Jaspers is giving me "Japser envy"......

My best buy is damn close. We get a new truck every Tues, Thurs, and Sat night now that its the holidays, and let me tell you that the arcade stack looks much smaller already and its only been what...two days since i told you we had 0842X.

If you want, just PM me your cell or something, and i will call you when i see a jasper, i'll even stay there and hold it till you come and pick it up lol, well...maybe, i guess it depends if im busy, but if i see more than one, i'll put one in the back of a shelf or something cause right now they have arcades sitting out on the floor and then the arcades that are just sitting at its normal shelf.

Im thinking at the earliest we'll see it next week at my store if not after tonight...or Sunday. we'll see. I really dont feel like digging through a pile of 0842s. seems like the 0843X's are having better luck so it seems.

I think it's very hard to draw any conclusions about lot #'s and manufacturing teams at this point. The only truely reliable way of IDing Jasper from outside the box is the 12.1A current rating. Everything else has been extremely variable in terms of lots, manuf dates, and teams. I would caution all of you from ruling anything in or out based on any of this data.

That 0844X FDOU Elite with a 14.2A label could still be a Jasper, although I have yet to hear of any Elite Jaspers being found.
