How ironic that the original "hunters" are the ones that can't find one at all

Goodyear,
Both BB's=no arcades,but 30 or so 0841x Falcons Pros at the Macdowell BB
Both Walmarts=Estrella Walmart has 7 or so Pros 0818-0837,Dysart empty
Supertarget=2 Pros 0821,0823
Target= Pro with Halo 3 ads on them..old as hell
Gamestops= several 0819 & 0834's
CC=no way I'm buying from there

Avondale,
Gamestop=empty
BB=empty
EB games=1 TMEM refurb Arcade
CC=didn't check

West Phoenix,
BB on Dell= 40 or so Pro in the 0839 area,3 arcades in the 0837 area
Target of the 101= 2 Elites..both refurbs
BB off 51st & camelback= 4 arcades 0815-0829,several Elite & Pros with Halo 3 ads

Oddly enough either the sales teams have been told not to say when they get restocked or they do in fact all not have a clue when they'll get some more....you go figure..think 15 or so stores were all told not to say when they'll get some?

Purchased an Arcade Jasper today.

Location: Beaverton, Oregon Target (non-super center)
Lot: 842x
Team: FDOU
Edition: Arcade
MFR Date: 10-14-08

Notes:
12.1A sticker visible through opening
notched bar in console power opening (Jasper's style)
included old 175w PSU
no memory card
newer box art and sticker as previously identified (e.g., XBOX360 ARCADE SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE 2008 E)

Wanted to post separately a few comments:

- The only other arcade there had strangely 14.2A on the back and the console was unwrapped (no plastic). I have a suspicion someone pulled a switcheroo and Target didn't notice. I think the box was lot 838 or thereabouts.

- I had previously checked there Monday and all they had was one 836 arcade. So they jumped to 842X in 3 days.

- IMO, you're best bet to find a Jasper is to look at Targets, Walmarts, and other supergrocery stores (e.g. Fred Meyer out here) where they keep small stock and have very good and frequent distribution. Walmart is known for its supply chain management which means their stock is smaller, and will turnover faster then say Best Buy. This Target for instance keeps a measly 1 or 2 on hand because they can always get more within 24-48 hrs.

Question:
This is probably a pilot run Jasper and came with 175w psu since made on 10-14-08. For all those engineers out there, would it make sense to trade in for a higher lot number like 848 to get a little later production run and the 150w psu? Or will the pilot ones be more guaranteed since they probably got rigorous QC'd? My machine won't see light until Dec 25 so an exchange would be quite simple.

Thanks!

Hi guys, I'm Doomsday from the old SeattlePI. Anyway, looks like Jaspers might be appearing from Amazon, just check the last post of this board:

http://www.amazon.com/Anyone-l...PBZBC&store=videogames

I ordered an Arcade bundle from Amazon yesterday before reading the post. It should be arriving on Monday to a friend's house, but since I live in Venezuela, I won't be receiving it until a couple of weeks. I'll tell my friend to check the Lot # and amps rating in the labels to see if I was lucky enough to get a Jasper. Let's hope that the poster is not a troll, and we start to see Jaspers from Amazon.

Good luck to all on your hunt,

Doomsday
Caracas, Venezuela.

FYI I have a Jasper Arcade. It is dated 10/19/2008 Lot#0843x
It does not have to be dated 10/23/2008 or later as mine is a Jasper..
12.1 on the box, 150 power supply and the Jasper sticker is visible on the motherboard behind the top fan..

Just so ya know

Same thing as mine with lot and power supply except mine was made 10-16, I think, per my post a couple days ago. I wonder if mine saw yours on the way out of the factory :heart: Mine was from walmart.

My guess is that actually we simply have a better power supply; it will probably run cooler (the PS, I mean).

From what I understand, there should be little to know differance in run quality between the first runs and a few weeks out. There MAY be a marginal differance between a first run and a near last run --- JasperHunter pls. tell me if I'm off base here.

As for the PSU, if you get a 175 I think that's actually a good thing. The 175 has 25 more watts to play with, so it won't be working anywhere near its full capacity on a Jasper 360. While I'm sure the 150 watt won't be working at full capacity either, it stands to reason that the 175 brick will work 'less'. I wouldn't sweat the power supply.

I still can't believe I found one ... let alone a Pro. I'm a original Hunter, but clearly in the minority here.

I can understand wanting a jasper but returning a non-jasper? Seems like a lot of work for an unknown benefit. The falcons are not circa 2005 models--what are their failure rates? I imagine quite low indeed.

I've been watching the Jasper thread since the first page. I have found 2 jaspers so far, but as I said, waited for an Elite. AFAIAC, I am an "original."

Update from my Best Buy.

The store has created their own set bundles for the xbox to sell more units, and i think its working cause people are buying them haha. Still seeing 0841x and 0842x FDOU Arcades.
Though i THINK there may be one Jasper Elite cause i saw it was a lot 0842X and the sticker said "SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE 2008 EN" The acrade stickers that we have seeing dont say "EN" rather its just "E" so idk if its a jasper or not. It was stuck on the bottom of the pile so i didnt bother trying to wedge it out since im not looking for an Elite.

Darrell - Did you send the PM yet? cause i haven't gotten anything. Im really thinking that we'll hopefully get Jaspers by next week when the newer lots get in. Meanwhile i might check out the walmart and target on the same road as bestbuy and just see. Cause it looks like a lot of people are finding them there.

Thanks, I didn't think of that. In this case Bigger may be better instead of newer.

Bboyhacks,

Did you get a chance to peek in the windows of the 842X arcades for amp readings? When I was there last week I didn't find any 842X's...just 841X's.

I wish I had better stuff to post than my measly needs. Since the discovery of Jaspers, I've pretty much been a spectator. All these questions people have been asking have been getting covered by other thead veterans......

I don't have any more funny stories like getting asked to leave for getting on the ladder at BB. I think the BB people are sick of seeing me. If it wasn't for my holiday bundle being paid with a gift card, I'd probably be trolling the other stores. Such is life......

I do have a story about my recent trip to Gamestop. I had 8 games to trade in. I had 4 Wii games (whoever made Ninjabread Man should be shot and suffer a slow, painful death), a PS2 game (kingdom hearts 2), and 3 xbox original games (not compatible with the 360). I got 17 cents, 19 cents, and 22 cents for the 3 XBOX games!! AND, that was after I got the 30% bonus for trading more than 6 gmaes in PLUS my 10% bump for having the EDGE card. WOW!!!

I probably will buy another XBOX original from Gamestop. They're going for $39 (before my 10% EDGE discount) and I can use another one to soft-mod and put XBMC on.....it's still SWEET after all this time. As the switch to SATA hard drives are becoming more prevalent, I better do it now before it gets too hard to find a cheap PATA hard drive......

Darrell,

Yea i checked the 0842X's for Amp readings, they all said 14.2a, and non of the arcades had the new "SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE 2008 E" Sticker on them. so thats 0/2 on the external box readings to finding a jasper.

Yea, Gamestop is quite the joke when it comes to trading in stuff. I remember when i was gonna trade in my entire old xbox system 2 years ago with two controller, they said they would give me 20 bucks for all of it. Im like...are you kidding me? Ive had it for only 2 years and i bought it brand new and still had all the original boxing and such. 20 bucks? fuck that, id rather give it away as a christmas present instead, might be more fulfilling lol.

Hang in there Darrell, we'll get our Jaspers soon enough. Are we the only ones in this area on this forum? Any other Cincinnati and Northern KY folks here?

FWIW, one of the reasons I'm checking in (way too often/day) is I hope to see you and Jasperhunter snag one. Darrell you were so gung ho in the beginning w/ information and helpfullness - you deserve one that's for sure. Keep the faith bro. Just don't let the return window exprire before your stuck w/ it.

Thanks for the support Jopopsy!

My window for the return ends Dec 17th....so if I don't find one by then, I'll have to go without a XBOX 360 for a while. I'm sure I'll get one, the impatience makes it worse. I'm sure most everybody knows how I feel, otherwise we wouldn't be here sharing the info we find.

I'm still gung-ho about the search. I opened my 0837, and said I'd post pics, but I didn't. By the time I I was ready to post, the 0839X's had appeared, and the speculation of the "X" began. No point in me wasting space posting pics identical to the 0836 I ripped open earlier.

I still hit the roads most days looking for the Jasper. I have a BB about 6 miles from my work, and 3 others along the trail back home. I work about 55 miles from home, but I drive about 80 miles homeward bound hitting the local watering holes for new inventory. I've said it before, but I'm driving the wife crazy. I catch crap all the time from my 4-year old....calling me at work wanting to know where the XBOX is.....it's in my car!!!

I want to thank everyone for the wealth of information provided. Without everyone here , I wouldn't have known what to look for on my hunt. JapserHunter and myself will get ours...it is just taking longer.

Oh yeah, and to JasperHunter, thank GOD you started the thread over here!! It was tiring to see all the kids hiding behind their keyboard and posting crap on 8bit's blog.

Major letdown as they charge a 15% restocking fee. I am going to eat it as I want a jasper!

I'd imagine IL/MI will probably share the same distro center...
