Like I said earlier -- no electronics product is perfect. One bad Jasper reported out of how many here that have bought one, and who knows how many have been purchased by others.

Did you know my Wii broke when I bought it, after only a month of playing -- it overheated and the textures would keep getting corrupted and look all messed up. Does that mean you shouldn't buy a Wii?

If you need products that never fail and are perfect you might want to try Legos for entertainment.

What I mean buy that is I am going on the assumption that a large amount of 360's RROD because of overheating and to have a Jasper RROD within 2 weeks is worrying.

With most electronics, if they are going to fail, they fail within the first few months of their life, which is why products usually carry a warranty. I'd rather it fail right away when its within the warranty period then a year from now when the warranty period is done (for non-RRoD problems).

What you don't know is whether or not the RRoD in this case was caused by the same systemic failure of the ball solder separating the GPU from the motherboard due to overheating / heat cycling and motherboard warping which caused the massive failures on the original Xenon boards, or if this is an isolated problem - lets say of improper application of solder for the GPU or a even a bad GPU.

The 3-segment RRoD only indicates a general hardware problem. General hardware problem could mean anything! And we don't know for sure that HarryBallzonya's problem was a 3-segment RRoD.

If 4-segments were flashing, then it indicates the A/V cable was not connected (maybe it accidentally got pulled loose which is why unplugging everything and plugging it back in fixed it?).

I'm not saying that Jasper is for sure fine, but I'm also not saying RRoD is going to plague the Jaspers. I wouldn't worry just yet, we'll see as time goes on. One thing for sure is that less heat production, and less power usage couldn't be a bad thing for any electronics device (except for maybe a space heater)

Buy it from a store, like Walmart or Target locally and spend the extra $20 on the extended warrenty. If it RRoD on you, just return it, and go back home with a brand new one. Keep doing that until either your warrenty runs out, or a new generation console comes out you like better.

With the pleasure you get when it is working, I think its worth the hassle when it does break. Unless your one of the guys who has to wait several weeks to get a refurb back from MS... that would suck.

Hey, been watching since the old forums back in August! Waiting for a Jasper Elite like the rest! Finally decided to make an account and interact!

My findings are no Jaspers in Surrey, BC or langley, BC yet closest I've seen was 0837

I think maybe that guy was pulling your chain, it just seems convenient that the RROD went away magicly... unless it was like stated not the same RROD problem! It's the same as the findings for jasper consoles, I saw many post they had it with no picture evidence throughout the days but yet they were months away still from a real jasper. Everyone wants to be the "first" some just like lying about it :S I could be wrong, but without picture evidence I am not going to believe it!

I also think that people who are looking for Jasper Elites should start posting up their lot Numbers again, I have no clue what the highest lot number is that has been checked to no avail is so far because everyones just saying they haven't found 1! Last lot number I recall seing was like 847 and it was a pro console! has anyone seen anything newer that wasn't a jasper on an elite?

I just hope someday it would be much easier to spot a Jasper unit here in the Philippines. People are already crazy finding a fully confirmed one. And if in case they do, expect the price will give more headache other than just simply looking out for it.

Good luck for us here. I found an arcade sold for 14000 pesos and thats $280. See?

Look, I understand believing me at this point is very hard since everyone has high hopes for the new Jasper motherboard. I don't mean to put anyones hopes down just for the fame. My intentions are not for the fame, but for the sheer purpose of preventing 360 fans of disappointment. I mean one RROD may not mean anything, but i would rather the followers of this forum to know of this mishap then to not know. I did say I can take a picture of my 360 jasper if that makes you happy. It was three segments that were flashing red, so I'm pretty sure it was a hardware problem. Just like LiQiCE stated earlier in the forum, I'm not sure what exactly the problem may be, but one thing i do know for sure is that there is an existing problem. I wouldn't of said anything if it didn't ring on me twice in 5 min, but its sad to say it did.

QuadD, they match if that's what you're referring to.

He probably had a loose a/v cable. My 360 used to flash red rings occasionally because my dog would go chasing a tennis ball behind my t.v. cabinet from time to time and jar the Xbox wire a little loose. There are different versions of the RRoD. Three flashing circles or four. Has Harry said which he had yet?

Since it worked fine after he unplugged everything and plugged it back in, it seems highly likely that was indeed the case.

When my Zephyr red ringed on me late last summer (Aug '08), it didn't matter how many times I unplugged everything... it refused to boot up.

Are we talking about when he says it RRoDs and he turns it back on and it RRoD's again or are we talking about when he unplugs everything and lets it rest for 5 minutes and it does not RRoD?

I am referring to when he mentions unplugging everything and waits 5 minutes. Because initially he does not give a time frame from initial RRoD and turning it off and on again.

In addition, this is a quote from Larry from 12/29, could this have something to do with RRoD?

"Also, I have had the 360 for about a day now and I just recently started hearing something rattle inside the system. I think its loose whatever it is because it only does it if i shake it. Do you think its the eye on the disc drive?"

Ok, first off. To clear up some confusion with my recent posts the 360 RROD on me two times. Each of course in the time frame of 5 min. That of course is an estimate of the time frame regarding both RROD. You may also add in my initial reaction and even the time it took me to show my girlfriend proof of the RROD if you think it took me a shorter time period than five min QuadD. Furthermore, I knew someone would bring one of my earlier posts up. Let me clear that up a bit. I was unaware of the loose ball that's used to since the 360's horizontal or vertical standing, so when i heard the rattle in the 360 I gently tilted it from left to right to pinpoint where exactly the rattle was coming from. I didn't literally shake the 360. I guess it was my fault for using poor choice of words. Also, QuadD, my display name is Harry, not Larry. Anything else, please shoot.

Congratulations on the First Jasper RRoD Harry. Couldn't remember if it was Larry or Harry earlier when I was responding to Shuffles.

Now, as Zenob said, back to the subject at hand.

Still Elite Jasper Hunting in NC and none to be found. Cant find anything over 844. What is the deal. How many units were manufactured during that week?

The Arcade sells at Data Blitz for P12,500. Still not $199 but cheaper than P14,000. I figure that shipping from the US will cost around $50, so it comes out about the same. Plus, you have the Data Blitz Philippine warranty, for what it's worth.

But the units they have are lot no 839, so we have some ways to go before we can get the Jasper.

Just in Bestbuy and Futureshop (Canadian company owned by bestbuy as well virtually identical) and has anyone else seen this bull that they are doing with putting stickers over the lot numbers now on the holiday packs? I found that the ones I could see were all super old stock, like stock that was older than pre christmas stock! anyone?

Ya i believe that's the reason why do they sell it fro 14k Php that is because to also cover the shipping cost. That's our first option if you can't wait any longer for your hands to land on a Jasper unit. Next is for us to hold on to our patience until DataBlitz will display their Jasper units on their shelves, but my question is how long? I don't wanna go for a falcon anymore. Then lastly, I can request to one of my relatives in the States to buy one for me, the prob is they don't know what I really wanted, they're not into gaming. I'm afraid that if they will going to buy one for me is I'll be frustrated once I get it. For the reason that it was not that Jasper thang.

A follow up...

Today I visited the two local Best Buy stores in my area.

Both of them had 4 or 5 Elites in the store floor; most of them were 0843X dated 2008-10-31, the rest were either from Oct 25 or June.

The fact that they have only 4 or 5 gives me hope that I'll soon find one dated November 2008 and hopefully a Jasper.

same here locally in San Diego - seeing mostly late October 0843xs at this point... and the stock they carry of the elites is usually smaller (so hopefully, they'll cycle soon enough)

Orange County here!

The 2 Best Buy stores I mentioned earlier had around 20 Elites each by Xmas.

A week ago they were down to around 10 each; so finding 4-5 today seems good to me.

Hopefully I'll be able to check again mid-next week.
