Nice one kpatm, pleased to hear that you managed to secure a Jasper. The reason your Ebay HDD only shows 13GB is likely due to the demos and system stuff that comes on them. Microsoft load them with demos and videos and there is also a small portion that you can't use which is restricted to system use only. Have a look at the demos and you can always get rid of them if you want to free up some more space.

One decent option is to buy an Arcade and add the necessary components yourself. Microsoft currently offers an XBox Live starter kit (I know they do in America and I'm sure I have sen them here too). This gives you the headset, 3 months XBox Live and a hard drive (not sure what size). I know that each of the models has slightly different cables for connection to your TV. If you check the side of any XBox box that will show you the items that you get as standard. Depending on your setup it might be a more beneficial option to go for an Arcade and only add the bits you want. If you need HDMI and all the bells and whistles then an Elite might work out slightly cheaper. I personally prefer the colour of the Elite so I am holding out.

I think there have been Jasper Pros sighted in the UK, can't be 100% on that though. As far as LOT numbers go, my contact that works in a warehouse has come across some 842x Arcades. The Elites are still at 846x (no Jasper though).

Yep thanks peachy.I have had a look at the hard drive and there was some small games saves on it but no demos or vids,after removing the game saves there is still only 13gb?

Ah well just had a look around.As usual the consumer is getting shafted.Nearly 6GB for the system to use MY ARSE.I know it happens with PC hard drives.Still annoying thh I really cant get used to using this controller is FPS games(well Halo 3 is the only game ive got).To used to the old mouse and keyboard.

Just a thought.I dont suppose people would be interested in adding their gamer tags to this thread.I dont have any friends so it would be nice to play a few online games with you lot after all we are all JASPER HUNTERS.We could even start a team and call our selves that.Or maybe not.

One more visit to my local Best Buy store and still nothing.

But I did found an Elite (that's all I'm looking at) with a manufacturing date of November 1, 2008... still a 14.2.

I'm sorry but I forgot to check the Lot ID (I was in a hurry).

I'll be stopping by again either on Friday or Saturday.

I'm still considering the posibility of getting an Arcade ($200) + 120Gb HDD ($150) + HDMI Cable ($50) = $400 (same as Elite).

Why not go out and get a 120gb Laptop Drive.It has to be a Western Digital BEV model and just hack it so it can be used in the 360.I think they are a round $50 in the US.Im here in Scotland but Im going to do the same.

Finally gave in and got a JAsper Arcade FDOU 0842x rated 12.1A;5v=1A just like the picture on the first page of this post. Got it from GAME, hehe, finally.

Not opened box yet but assume the 12.1 Amp bit confirms its the new one . Just need to get a HDD.

I believe you already need an xbox HDD in order to use a laptop drive on the xbox, as the USB's are read only.

If not I have a USB WD drive I would be more then happy to reformat for the xbox 360???

Ok so I see a lot of people saying they have a jasper on the 60gb pro bundle with dates from 10-8-2008 and lot number 842 and up - from 360drives website. So I go pick up a 360 pro 60gb bundle lot 845x date 11-03-2008 and I think it is a falcon.

That is some serious bad luck. Seen some Elites newer than that but they were also Falcons. My wait for an Elite must be over soon. I'm keeping the faith, can't settle for any less now.

im also waiting for an elite Jasper. But im going to go next week on wed to the store (Best Buy- New York) and buy whatever they have. I know they have had Jasper Pro's for the past 2-3 weeks but im hoping they will have an elite because i am not going to wait for the elite any longer. There is no reason for me to get the elite if i dont need the bigger HD.

I can completely relate to your desire to end the Elite search and jump in and get the Pro. I'm afraid I am stuck now as I won't have anything except the Elite. I just prefer the colour and the HDD size. Sounds pretty fickle I know, but there you go. The Arcade Jaspers are plentiful, and the Pros are coming through in dribs and drabs. Therefore i know it should not be too long now for Jasper Elite. I know for sure that the Elites at 846x are NOT Jasper.

Can you point me in the direction of the info you have seen for pro jaspers in the UK?

Thanks for the info, I'm jasper hunting too preferably for an Elite, but I think I'm going to make my own elite now seen as I have access to a 24 dollar CND 120gb official Microsoft HDD and well I have a nice HDMI cable waiting already and a headset, so really my only advantage is the colour (and trust me I have 1 hell of a setup and the only thing that isn't black right now is the Wii, so I really wish i could find an Elite jasper... but I've had these damn giftcards patiently waiting for too long and I could piece together an Elite like console for a lot cheaper now!

Plus isn't there some sort of advantage to running a jasper arcade thats upgraded to Elite level? my thinking behind that is that the Arcade has the built in memory for the new dash and the pro's don't so the elites probably won't! So you kind of get the best of both worlds if you have an arcade console with the 120GB HDD attached with an HDMI cable on the back!

I know what ya' mean. I'm stuck looking for an Elite Jasper because I bought an Elite already, and it's still sealed; my plan was to exchange this Falcon Elite for a Jasper before my receipt expires in early March, but I'm worried I'll just have to return it (or keep it).

I bought the Falcon due to some good deals at that time: I had a 20% discount, plus I received a $40 gift card.

Got a Jasper (844X lot) at Gaithersburg Best Buy. None in Rockville BB nor Wheaton BB (all the serial cutouts were torn on the left ). Circuit City, though probably setting up some good liquidation deals tomorrow, keeps theirs in the back so it may be trouble finding someone willing to hunt for a lot number. Though I did manage to convince the Gaithersburg BB guy to check the back since no Pros were on the shelf, resulting in my lucky find.

There were three more 844 Pros at Gaithersburg, and I'd wager they're all 12.1V. I didn't check them as it was 9:55PM when I got to the store (truly a magical adventure). I have the old power supply, but I don't care. I just need to figure out how to get internet to the thing through this PC...

I've been trying to find an Arcade Jasper in Northamptonshire.
Blockbusters in Abington and Kingsthorpe, Northampton had none in stock.
Blockbusters in Kettering said they had one, I snick out of work, but it was a faulty unit which had been returned.
Curry's in Kettering had no Arcades at all.
Curry's and Comet had no stock at Riverside.
Curry's and PC World had no stock at Nene Valley Retail Park.

- Comet at Nene Valley retail park have got quite a few - woot!

...just in case anyone local is searching...

Ya i believe that's the reason why do they sell it fro 14k Php that is because to also cover the shipping cost. That's our first option if you can't wait any longer for your hands to land on a Jasper unit. Next is for us to hold on to our patience until DataBlitz will display their Jasper units on their shelves, but my question is how long? I don't wanna go for a falcon anymore. Then lastly, I can request to one of my relatives in the States to buy one for me, the prob is they don't know what I really wanted, they're not into gaming. I'm afraid that if they will going to buy one for me is I'll be frustrated once I get it. For the reason that it was not that Jasper thang.

The next problem is that I don't think that the local xbox repair shops woiuld know how to mod the Jaspers do that they can play the games you can get locally. I understand the jaspers use the new lite-on drives that the modders here haven't seen yet. But not sure.

Talk to http://www.sdmods.com/ the other day...he seemed to be fine with the Lite-On drives (while I know a lot of other modders aren't) - they've always been the best... you could always check with them to be sure.

Thanks for the heads up Zenob. But, I've decided to postpose the purchase for a little while cause rumors are out that prices for the XBOS and the PS3 are going to be reduced again sometime midyear. Because of the crisis, I guess. I'll still follow this thread to see how the modders are doing with the Jaspers. And to know when I can expect 100% that any new XBOX I buy is going to be a Jasper. XD
