I saw some in John Lewis the other day, but they were 0832 and the like ... ancient!

It would be good if we knew a definite holiday bundle was 'Jasper', wasn't Prince of Persia bundle rumoured to be Jasper?

This is my first Xbox purchase -- obscenely powerful PC and Wii for me up until now -- and I want it before Xmas and am prepared to wait until the last second, but I really want a Jasper model (as I guess do all of us here!)

Thanks to everyone for the updates from their respective locales. The stores around me seem to be at least a few weeks behind the bleeding edge that some of you guys are finding.

Mind throwing me a link. The search isn't working for me and i'm looking in the "All Cases/Cooling/PSUs Articles" which keeps giving me errors.

Link is in the first post. It's also under the "gadgets" tab from the AT front page.

To those wondering about the 80nm GPU : this is based on Anand measuring the Xenon/Zephyr GPU die and comparing it to Falcon GPU die. The Falcon appeared to be smaller, but not small enough to be 65nm. It was consistent with an 80nm half-node shrink, which is an optical shrink that doesn't require a redesign like a "true" process shrink (to 65nm for example). There's nothing confirmed from Microsoft. Then again, they never discuss these sorts of things.

Microsoft purchased the design of the GPU from ATI/AMD, so they own the full rights to the IP. I believe, but am not sure, that MS did all the chip layout work on the original design. There are rumors that MS was going to contract out future chip design work after they had so much trouble with the 90nm design. It's unclear, however, if that was for the 80nm optical shrink or the theoretical 65 or 55nm Jasper GPU. It could even be related to the next gen Xbox, but I think that's less likely.

If someone wants to remind me what lot #'s have been verified as still being Falcon and who performed said verification, I will be happy to update the first post to keep track of this. In the future, this will be easier since I won't have to go back through the 1000 posts at 8bitjoystick.

Yeah definitely, that is our best hope that is currently on shelves right now. Or at least peak through the box and see if the amp rating on the back of the console is less than 14.2.

Early Jaspers may not have the lower current rating on the label, just as early Falcons did not have the lower current rating or smaller PSU. Ultimately, this will be a good way to ID Jasper, but probably not for the very first ones.

IMO, the easiest way to ID an early Jasper without opening the console will be to take Kill-a-watt power consumption measurements, which should be lower than Falcon.

Something that just occurred to me is that we probably should retest Falcon with HD installs under NXE. Just to check if it's different (it may not be significant) and to take that potential confusion out of the equation ahead of time.

Do you have a link? I'll look for it later in the 8bitjoystick thread if you don't.

I would like to post references for all "confirmed" information that I didn't generate myself.

mtsjtb kill-a-watted his 0839X CSON (0840 on serial)

same readings as Falcon.

I can't complain about my 0837 FDOU....it ran Halo 3 and never got over 118 watts throughout the 1st lvl...

my local frys (downers grove, IL) only had 1 xbox 360 left and it was 829. im going to go check my local costco, CC, and best buy today for lot numbers too...

im pretty sure ill end up purchasing a 360 (bundle) at costco so it'll come with the lifetime warranty in case anything goes wrong. unfortunately i dont think they sell arcades and elites, only 60GB pros with different bundles. although thats what they sell online, i dunno about in-store..

Hey guys,

I am too am wondering about whether there are any CSON 841's+
Have there been any noticeable changes between FDOU 841's and CSON 841's?
But most importantly I heard CSON have a new quieter fan that FDOU's do not have? If this is true is it efficient as well? If anyone can confirm this that would be awesome.

Hi there,

I'm not familiar with the Costco lifetime warrenty. It sounds very interesting. Could you give some more info on it please? Do they fully replace your xbox if it dies?

Thanks for the info!

secretanchitman, Costco doesn't offer the lifetime warranty on electronics anymore. they changed their policy 1+ year ago for all the abuse they recieved with returned (err upgraded) electronics.

ah yes, thats right. my mistake! i totally forgot about that...

might as well buy it cheaper from dell or on BF! thanks for that!

edit: doesnt look like its video games/consoles...my parents bought the dell 2407WFP monitor we had just last year in the summer (after the new policy took into effect) and i guess we lucked out because monitors by themselves arent included.

"We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell with a full refund. Exceptions: Televisions, projectors, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPOD / MP3 players and cellular phones must be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund."

but ill ask them tomorrow just to make sure!

My CSON Lot # 842 is running super cool. Don't know if it Jasper or not, but the air coming out the back is not hot at all. Played Bioshock for about 4 hours last PM and there was no significant heat.

Pics are no problem... I will take some later and post them. The Kill a Watt is not going to happen however. I am deployed and unable to purchase one...

What exactly should I be looking for when I take the pics. Specifically what do you guys want to see?

Copy that... Will snap some later and post them.

Noticed that the team was not on the console though as I have seen elsewhere, it was on the packaging box. There were several things that were different from previous versions pictured on various sites.

"AF XBOXER", great to see someone finally has a CSON 842! many will be anxious to learn more details about your console. Very important to include photos of the numbers on the brick and the back of the console. so you are aware, there were mystery posts a while ago that vaguely pointed to CSON 841 lot numbers for Jaspers. We still don't have any photos or xbox details from a CSON 841+ so you could be the first.

Until we hear from you...
