My FDOU 0843X dated 10-22-2008 is definitely labeled 14.2A and the power brick says 175W. But I know that the early Falcons had the old power brick, so I wonder if mine is a Falcon or a Jasper???

Wuss360: the pics here (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/i....php?showtopic=668038) clearly mark his FDOU 843x with a 12.1A rating. if yours isn't marked the same way, you most likely don't have a Jasper.

So the one in the link was built 23-10, and is a Jasper, and Wuss360's was built 22-10 and is a (suspected) Falcon, but still has the old Falcon labeling.

That really does now narrow this down.

So are we to now say all consoles built on or after 23-10 are Jasper?

Also @ Wuss360, is there no way to be sure what you have, you can get hold of a watt meter and see what wattage you get while playing Halo 3 compared to the known Falcon wattage numbers during Halo 3.

The BF sales this weekend should make it very easy for everyone that waited to snag a Jasper as early as next week. feeling glad I held out the past few months!!!

ah heck.Just phoned my local GameStation to ask what lot numbers their Xbox's are on.The guy says its a 0842,BUT he isnt willing to open up the sod to check the Power Brick for me.Im really tempted to jump in the car(its only 5 mins away) and go down their in person and ask him to open it up cause if it is a jasper then I will BUY IT.

Seems like we all may be able to get one before the end of the year.

Darrell - if you are gonna return your 0837 for a soon landing Jasper.
My best buy just got all new shipments of 0841X both Elite and Arcade, no pro, sorry.
I'm going to assume that by end of the first week in December or sometime in the Second week we may get a shipment of 0843X.

And if this isnt scary enough, did i not say my dreams prediction was 0843X nearly a month ago....

AnthonyG: I tried to get a Kill-A-Watt at Home Depot yesterday, but apparently now it is an online-only item and they don't have it in the stores. I was going to order one from Newegg, but they are out of stock.

How likely is it that they made the Jasper switch in the middle of a lot? Is it likely that all FDOU 0843X units are Japser? Or would they make the Falcon / Jasper switch in the middle of a lot like that?

Wuss360, it's probably not a big problem for any of the integrators to manage. As long as the package size/shape/pinout was maintained such that the 65nm CPU is a fit/form/function drop-in replacement, then they can easily make either version with the simple part change. I expect they'd just pick a day to make the transition and move ahead from there. No reason it couldn't be in the middle of a "lot", since that spans a whole week's timeframe.

I have just been thinking.With a this Jasper talk and the assumption that it will eliminate(or nearly) the RROD.What IF someones Jasper dies on them with the RROD that would be a HUGE let down for all us plonkers holding our breaths for a Jasper.And I assume tha MS would still offer the 3 year extended warrant to fix it?

Speaking solely with regards to Falcons last year, I am pretty sure the initial Falcons came with wattage markings of that of Zephyr on the xbox360 case.

They also came with the larger wattage PSU's.

It seems we are talking a day between your console with the older marking and the, what seems to be, proven labeled Jasper.

A day is worth testing with a watt meter IMHO.

For example you may have just got some tired person use the wrong printing label on your Xbox case.

I particularly am not interested in the RROD side of things.

Its the heat reduction that I wanted a Jasper, my Xenon pumps out huge amounts of heat.

In the spring, and especially summer months it becomes unbearable as its like a full powered electric heater going off in your room when its already 25-30 degrees.

The hottest thing on the Xbox was the GPU, so the reduction to 65nm should cool this thing right down.

I also have experience with this as the old 40Gb PS3's had 90nm GPU's, the new 80GB with 65nm GPU's run much cooler.

Hello guys,long time lurker from seattlepi here

Facing apparently the final moments of Falcon v3 (i dont dare to say jaspe yet), I propose:

1- Some of us having Kill-o-watts lying around could borrow it to AF BOXER. Shipping costs are worth contributing big time to unleash the truth that may otherwise take another 2 or 3 weeks until more people with 0843x (that actually care about it) post here

2- Some time in near future we´ll need someone who is harware knowledgeable to open up his xbox and give a definitive confirmation of a MAJOR hardware revision and not just FALCON V4

Since few would want to void his warranty, we´ll need to contact Ben Heck (other) about this new 12.1a findings. That way we´d have a definitive confirmation on the SHRINKING OF THE DIE SIZE TO 65NM

For those who´ve been waiting for so long,it never gets enthusiast enough

I bought my 0843x FDOU Arcade at a Circuit City in southern Indiana. They hadn't had hardly any 360's on the shelf for a few weeks, but when I went in Tuesday they were setting up some sort of Black Friday display with a bunch of 360's. Mostly Arcades, but quite a few 0838X Pro bundles that weren't repacks.

And could everybody scroll back up to Terry's post on page 12? I think it kind of got lost in the shuffle, but is he saying he saw a 0842X with a 12.1A label on the console? Is it possible that they started making the switchover during 0842X?

Considering the person on XboxScene with an 843x has a confirmed Jasper then it does seem anything is possible.

However to extend that, wouldn't that mean your console is a Jasper too.

I doubt the same team would make a Jasper one week, then go back to Falcon, then go back to Jasper in the same week.

Or could the same team have two production lines on the go at the same time?

But I don't think I am alone in really being curious on what wattage you get, as anything other than this, or physically cracking open your case and measuring the GPU die, is speculation.

Don't you have Maplins where you are, as that is where most people in the UK gets theirs.

Excellent, first Jaspers seen out in the wild!

Now were to get in the UK? I'll buy an Arcade and get the 120GB hard drive pack as I think it's going to be a while before we see Jasper Elites.

Who is likely to have most current stock? Although I think I'll waiting until nearly Xmas before ordering online so I've got the best chance of a Jasper: Amazon, Play, others?

Online would be far too risky until way into 2009. You very likely would get a Falcon, and likely have a big rigmarole to return it.

The obvious choice of a high street retailer would be Game. At least they may know what you are talking about when you say you want a Jasper.

Supermarkets probably another good possibility, so Asda or Tesco.

Hi All,

just registered here once more because my former registration didn't work. I am still waiting for the first registration's email. ;-)

I followed the seattlepi thread since the early beginning and am pleased to see now the first Jaspers.
I don't think those 360s with the new PowerBrick and 12,1 A readings are Falcon v4. A reduction of about 2 A seems in 360's case only possible through die-shrink of CPU or GPU.
The interesting thing is now... where to get AND are all FDOUs assembled starting from 23-10-2008 are jaspers? It can also be possible that they only switched one production line in the factory and the other ones will follow at a later stage.

Just to remind everyone here. Nothing is "confirmed" until somebody opens it up and sees the new chip itself.

These very well may be Jaspers, but right now it's just speculation. I know everyone is excited, but we won't know for sure until one is opened up and the 65 nm chip is verified.
