Edit: I'm just saying, let's not all cry Jasper until we really know. No use spreading hype and possibly misinforming people until we know for certain.

These very well may be Jaspers, but right now it's just speculation. I know everyone is excited, but we won't know for sure until one is opened up and the 65 nm chip is verified.

Theoretically your right, yes!

It's just that practically I cannot think of any way to reduce the Wattage/Amperage so much like a die-shrink.

But one option would be it is a well planned Thanksgiving-Fake (what I don't think), or a Microsoft Thanksgiving-Present.

Unless this person on Xbox Scene deliberately done a photoshop job its Jasper.

Or at the very least a new Falcon v4 with a 65nm GPU

Well, I go away for a few days and it looks like we might finally have some new info.

AF XBOXER has a very promising looking new power plug. It's definitely different and consistent with the theory that a Jasper rev would be capable of accepting a new 150W PSU. That PSU would in turn be keyed to not plug into older systems since it wouldn't be powerful enough. If you have a macro function on your digital camera, that may make it easier to photograph the power connector.

As linked by AnthonyG and iwantjasper, looks like there's a 12.1A labeled Xbox at xbox-scene with a 150W PSU. IMO, barring any photoshop interference, this has to be Jasper. I don't even need to see power measurements to be convinced.

It's interesting that we never had a 175W/14.2A Jasper, but it's possible we just missed them. Or possibly, MS never meant to have 203W/16.5A Falcons the first time around and that just threw us off.

Looks like I'll be looking around the local Best Buys tomorrow. Figures that we'd discover this on a day when all the stores are closed Actually, I'm not sure I can stand the Black Friday crowds just to hunt for something the stores here probably don't have. We'll see...

The solder/packaging has been one area where the source of the failures have been theorised to originate. It would be good if possible to confirm/deny that and it will make the article a little more useful.

I don't think we have the resources to do that. It would be quite expensive and difficult, if not impossible.

the PSU color has never differed based on model.

I can't actually find any information on the 150W PSU model # shown in those XBS pics. At least not via google. I'm not doubting them because they don't look photoshopped, but I'm just a little surprised.

PS - FWIW, 0842 is the week I ordered my xbox and 0843 is the week after. So I take full responsibility for both the delay in Jasper and the actual changeover that occurred in the factory

AnthonyG: really? I would've though Amazon shift loads of them, compared to my local Game that might have some sat on the shelf for ages.

I went into John Lewis the other day, and all the ones they had were ancient; manufactured in Q1 this year.

Hrm... I am thinking of leaving it right until day before Xmas, so maybe I'll be able to pick one up retail.

Just out of curiosity, how significant will the new 65nm GPU increase performance? Are there any other improvements that the Jasper has?
The reason I ask is I have the chance to exchange my current Falcon for a Jasper if they start showing up within 28 or so days.

there will be no performance improvement. Just improvements to power consumption and noise levels.

Wow, I was really busy the last few days working on my friends car and then playing a show with my band last night, then I come back here and see that Jaspers are here!

I find it strange that someone with a 360 from the same lot and team still got a Falcon, I will probably wait for the lot number to go up one or two more times before buying just to make sure.

150w power brick, 12.1A on the console, and the connector on the cable is definitely different!

This really does sound like great news, however I will not be convinced until a suspected Jasper unit is ripped open and Jasper GPU is measured and measured in glorious technicolor.

Being a graphic designer, I'm alway sceptical of photogrphic evidence because a good designer with good knowledge of Photoshop and a creative flare could have easily doctored those images to fool us all, I don't want to put a downer on things, I'm just keeping it real, we've had false claims before in the last 2 months.

I know way back while following 8bitJoysticks blog post someone did post 0843x as being a signifigant lot number for Jasper, lets hope this was an insider letting us know!

So to anyone with a 0843x X360 with 12.1a and a 150w PSU brick, please rip it open and take some cracking photos for us all to drool over.

let's hope Ben Heck gets wind of this too and finds a 0843x unit and rips it open.

Hey iwantjasper, have you ever tried checking the shops in Dufferin Mall or York Dale area for the xbox? my friend went last week, i believe he said he seen some 0834-0836''s or something like that. I might go check at the end of the month or another week or two hopefully more consoles would have been shipped out and Jaspers are more present on the scene. Anyway Congratz to the guys who got there jaspers, hopefully we all will be able to get them soon enough. Oh yah if anyone else in toronto is looking around for the jasper let us know if you find a spot that has any available or what lot #'s the stores are at now. Thx

Hi Ultravires, no I haven't checked in those areas yet, haven't had time to do so. I checked again today at Eaton centre and there's a lot of old stock there still. I think they stocked up for the Christmas season or something.

I will definitely post my update here whenever I find a Jasper or other lot numbers that I see. Hopefully the Toronto group can see Jaspers soon!

Woot, cant wait to get my hands on one soon when it comes to my Best Buy. I will inform all in the Kentucky/Cincy area when it hits my store.
