And here's another possible clue, but I don't know if this is meaningful or not. My 10-21-2008 Jasper has a slightly different sticker on the side panel of the box. It says "XBOX360 ARCADE SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE 2008 E".

The Falcon I'm returning says "XBOX360 ARCADE CNSL BNDLE EN/ES US HDWR NT".

Strange.... so some people are getting Jaspers with dates earlier than 10-23? I'm gunna go check Fry's in a while, hopefully I get one.

Here's a link to the sticker on the box of my 10-21-2008 Jasper. As my post up above said, the text on this sticker is different from the text on the 10-22-2008 0843X FDOU Falcon I returned.

I can confirm that my 10-18-2008 FDOU 0842X Jasper has the same sticker on the side of the box. You may be on to something here.

Is it fairly easy to see current rating without opening the box? I'm going to start hunting a Jasper next week for a Christmas present if I can find one. I don't want to buy and return a bunch of systems.

What I also recognized is the Product code XGX-00019. Is that one Jasper-unique?

That would make it even possible to identify them when buying online as most online-shops show the product no. One example is here: Link

Blayze: We can't say for sure yet if that text on the sticker guarantees a Jasper. The only reason I bought the one I did was because I could just barely see the 12.1A through the window on the box. I think that's the best way to guarantee a Jasper right now.

Yup 12.1A is your best bet.

Just got done trying mine out and trying the new dashboard for the first time. This thing runs VERY quiet but I am comparing to an old console where the fans were modded to 12volts and had an extra 70mm fan.

After playing GoW2 for a while, I can say that the air coming out of the back is a LOT cooler than the air that was coming out of the back of my Falcon.

For anyone interested, I saw two FDOU 842X Arcades at the Target in Cinci on Fields Ertel about an hour ago.

The sticker on the side said "XBOX360 ARCADE SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE 2008 E", so there is a good chance that these are Jaspers and not Falcons.

It was crazy busy at the Electronics department, so I did not wait in line to have someone open the case and try to check the amperage.

I just played a little bit of Sega Tennis for the heck of it and the system is nice and quiet when a game is spinning. Yes you can hear the DVD drive if you focus on it but no big deal. Again I'm comparing to an old system with 12volt fans and other mods so this is like paradise for me. Didn't notice much air coming out from the fans I guess the system wasn't even hot enough to kick the fans into high gear, stayed very cool. I'd say 360 is now on par with PS3 in terms of fan noise and temperature.

I saw a Jasper 360 Arcade in a Fry's in SoCal (on La Palma). They had a couple of 842X FDOU systems, but alas, no Jasper Pros. Does anyone know of a spot with comfirmed sightings in Orange County?

More fruitless searching in Connecticut. Went to a GS where their "latest shipment" had build dates of 8-14-08. Then to another Walmart where the idiot told me "if you don't see it we don't have it." By that logic Walmart only stocks 1 Xbox at a time because that's all they have room for at the bottom of their glass case.

7 different locations in the past 24 hours. Lame.

I meant to get around to posting yesterday but got a little tied up. Been hitting the Meriden/North Haven area stores and coming up with the same results... best I came up with yesterday was some 841's at the Meriden BB and New Haven Walmart
