I'm wondering if JasperHunter is onto something. Do they just 'null' out the extra cache on Pro consoles?

working on it...

With all these people with Jaspers, we know that they run cooler but we still don't have a whole lotta Kill-a-watt readings.
I think someone earlier or on the other forums said he was getting 89-90 watts at the Dash. has anyone took a watt reading on Halo 3 yet?

Bboyhacks,

I brought my XBOX with me to work today in case your store gets some new arcades. How long before you find out if any arrived?

hehe.....hairdryer trick. Wax paper works great to preserve the sticker until you're ready to put it back on.

You know what works great to take apart the XBOX 360?? The pumpkin carving kits!!! I use the small round tool that makes the dots on the pumpkin to push down the tabs on the side grills...and I use the small saw to push in the tabs in the back of the unit. The saw is the perfect size and the round tip doesn't do any cosmetic damage!!! Just push in until it clicks, and then twist the handle until it lifts a little. Rinse and repeat on the others.......They work AWESOME!!!

Does that mean that the Arcade has a performance or storage enhancement advantage verses the Pro or Elite by having the extra 256mb? Or is it just an extra 256mb to be used for storage, etc?

Thanks

Dude

From what I understand 16MB of the 256MB is being used in lieu of the 16MB video buffer. The rest is being used as storage. There is no performance benefit otherwise.

It's not a video buffer, nor was it ever. 16MB was the original flash memory for the system firmware/OS. That is now upgraded to 256MB, with the remainder available for general storage use.

You're right. I don't know why I was saying video.

There are Jasper Pro's confirmed now? I thought it was all Arcades atm.

What are the batch numbers and team? Or are they the same as Arcade ones?

Lots of stuff on this in starting on page 25 of this thread. There may be earlier LOTS that are Jasper, but apparently I'm the first to post about a Pro.

I guess my question should have been, have we confirmed any online retailers to be shipping Jasper in the US?

I should know about the Pro 60GB's Dell is shipping from their online sales, through I got mine on Cyber-Monday instead of Black Friday. Mine went out UPS @ 5am today only 799 miles to go!

All the research I had done told me I was jipped, but I still couldn't believe it after 843X + 10-23-08. No digital cam necessary.

Bakesalee - Out of curiosity, do the labels say "XBOX 360 ARCADE SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE 2008 E"?

Bakesalee look for this
http://s401.photobucket.com/al...iew&current=Jasper.jpg

No, my label did not say "Value bundle E," nor did it have an "XGX-00019" code. Next time I will look for the amperage rating. 843X + 10-23-08 don't cut it alone.

You can you do us a favor and post what you get back from Dell, i think thats gonna be my best chance of getting a Pro Jasper because bestbuy now got new shipments of Pros of 841x now they went back to 836! plus the 15% off code is good till 12/27!!

So if its not i guess return it back 2 Dell and buy it again on the 26 or 27 of Dec.

UPS is projecting delivery tomorrow(12/4), but mine is being shipped from the San Francisco Dell warehouse. I'm pretty sure that New Jersey would probably be shipped from their Delaware location. Still I will post what I get. Which code is good til 12/27? the one I posted or a different one?

If you have a HDMI cable screw the Elite. Buy the Arcade and a 120GB drive from Amazon. Cheaper then the Elite. If you need optical to your reciever, run the optical from the optical out on your TV (if it has one) to your reciever (this works great for me). Other then the headset (which is kinda crappy anyway) you pretty much have a Elite (the important parts).

And don't forget to spray it black to match your other components.

For all those Canadian Jasper Hunters out there, I've created a topic at Xbox scene that's focused on finding Jaspers in Canada. This way we'll have all the CDN info in one place so we can find it more easily.

I'm going to post info on both anandtech and xbox scene whenever I find anything. It would be great if you guys could do the same so we can all find Jaspers sooner!!

Please find the link below:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=668657

Thanks and good luck hunting!

Hey guys,

Good afternoon!

I've been following this thread for a looooong time. In fact, I've been following JasperHunter's posts since this whole discussion started back in the SeattlePi blog!

Anyway! Here's my problem: I live in Brazil. And here, XBOXes are EXPENSIVE. Imagine, for example, if you had to pay 2400 bucks for an Official XBOX Kit by Microsoft. Insane, right? But that's exactly the price of an XBOX 360 here in Brazil. Since we don't earn our salaries in dollars, it becomes a VERY expensive console indeed!

Of course, the benefit for buying the Official Kit is that Microsoft gives you a 3-year guarantee of replacement for 3RL problems. So you are buying peace of mind, actually.

But NOW... we have Jaspers! FINALLY! And with the Jaspers, the hope of not having to worry with those problems anymore.

So here's the deal. I want to buy a Jasper. There are two ways I can do that:

1) Buy it online;
2) Wait for a friend to go to the USA (there's actually one going on January) so he can buy one for me.

My problems: how to recognize a Jasper? I've followed this thread, but I'm still very bad with hardware and stuff. I know the Jasper needs 12.1A, and that should be a clear sign. And also the DVD drive, from what I've read, is made of white plastic, instead of metal as in other 360s.

Any other clues so I could instruct my friend? Is there any online retailers I could buy my Jasper from in the present? When would be safe to buy from Amazon, for example?

Sorry if I've made any mistakes, english is not my primary language.

I like black...

But, I have considered the white one just to save money. Does the HDMI on the xbox support audio? If so I don't need optical.

That's a pretty good solution feeding optical back to the receiver, but how did it get to your TV? If it came on HDMI then shouldn't your receiver already have the signal? Or maybe you are going straight to the TV and then sending audio to receiver. My receiver switches audio/video for everything, only cable to my TV is one HDMI.

What happens if you disconnect the HD and boot? Do you see 256MB of flash then?

That's great news about Jasper Pro models, I must've missed it earlier.

Yes the HDMI on the Arcade (and other models I assume) carries audio. I just bought a hd component cable from amazon used for like 9 bucks shipped (this is the same cable that comes with the pro version). Then when I get it I intend to use that for the optical audio output only, and HDMI for video.
