I live north of you guys in West Central Ohio, about 50 miles north of Dayton (in auglaize county). I have got the itch to get an Xbox and it's gotta be a jasper. Like Darrell, I got BB reward certs and a $10 instore coupon (that expires this weekend). I'd like to get an Arcade this weekend, and I got the three BB's in Dayton and there's one in Muncie, IN.

Now all four said in store was out of stock, earlier this week, but now today all but the Dayton Mall location say they are in stock. I will likely call them tomorrow to see if they actually have some in stock. The problem with living an hour away from them is that I can really go on the weekends and it would suck if they didn't have Jasper's because that would be a lot of wasted time driving there for nothing.

I might be going shopping tomorrow so I don't know whether I should go to Dayton or Muncie and have the best chance of getting a Jasper, or do you think they are all still old units? I really would like to get one this weekend, but after not having an xbox ever I think I can wait to get a Jasper (but I want to use that $10 coupon, I know its only $10 but money is money).

Leyward,

Defintely go to Dayton store over Muncie Store. The dayton BB is a big mover in that area and if I would choose between the two.....choose Dayton. (BUT LOOK AT MY LUCK!! )

YMMV, but you could always ask to get a geek on the phone and ask if they could squirt off some lot #'s for you.......BUT that is a big YMMV

I?ve been lurking around since 8 bit's thread was over run by trolls, decided to sign up to post some info for the CT jasper hunt.

Best buy Waterford ct:
Arcades: a couple of fdou 843's unfortunately all 14.2a
Pros: a whole lot of fdou 836's (looks like this trend will continue for a while)
Elite: about 12 ranging from 815 to surprisingly cson 842 unfortunately 14.2a

(I actually had to damage the box a little bit on a couple to see the amperage rating)

Target Waterford ct:
Only one of each locked away in those f'ing glass cases
Arcade: 842
Pro: 838
Elite: 844! (Couldn?t see the team or amperage rating ugh...)

It seems Targets have been the best bet in CT so far... couple confirmed from the North Haven one... I'm going to hit that one over the weekend hopefully in an effort to find a pro bundle with the $40 gift card deal they will have going

Yeah, I agree that Dayton would prolly move more stock, considering there are 3 stores there, and one in nearby Springfield.

I don't have total control over where we go tomorrow, but if it is Dayton, then I am gonna hit up all three stores and hope I find one, hopefully the first store I go to has em. If we go to Muncie and they don't have them, then I may have to try to hit Dayton on Sunday.

So according to an earlier post, BB gets there shipments on Tues, Thurs, and Saturday right? I hope they don't hold stock for Sunday b/c of the weekly ads, especially if they have a paying customer.

I've never looked before, but are the consoles behind glass, or how do you get them to let you look at all the boxes?

A kill a watt reading from Halo 3. I played from the beginning to the 3rd chapter. The highest reading I could get was 111 watts. I have an arcade 842x "Jasper Pilot run version" FDOU with my old 20 gb hard drive. Most of the time the kill a watt was at 104 to 107 watts.

In my experience, in Madison, WI the Best Buys and Circuit Citys have them out in the open and you can examine them all you want. All of the other stores have them locked up or in the back. If they are locked up behind glass you can sometimes see the lot numbers of the boxes closest to the front.

If you are going somewhere where they will be locked up, you will have to ask one of the salespeople very politely to see their stock of XBox's. I just tell them that there is a new hardware revision that I want to buy, and I have to examine the lot number to know what's in the box. I would not try too hard to look for the "12.1 A" on every box because you often have to tear the box a very small amount to see it, but I would try and cautiously do that if there was a unit that I was pretty sure I wanted to buy.

I also try to go when I know the stores are not going to be busy, but I'm sure that might not be an option for you this weekend.

Best of luck to you.

Yeah....when I went to check at Target, I asked a super old guy & it was Black Friday. Mistakes 1 and 2. Next time I asked the younger guys at less busy times and they were helpful (and curious).

Hi All,

checked two more stores in Germany (Rhein-Main area) today.

MediaMarkt Darmstadt
Arcades: all 82x and 83x, nothing newer
PROs: mostly 83x, some 82x; they have Tomb Raider bundles all repackaged ones team ADUE
Elites: don't remember exactly but certainly NOT newer the 839
Remarks: They have many, many consoles there and it doesn't seem they move fast in this store although it's the biggest MediaMarkt store in Europe!

Saturn Frankfurt (Zeil):
They had only Quantum of Solace bundles all repackeged ones, team ADUE old LOT numbers.

They hunt in Germany continues although I am confident to find one next week! ;-)

Leward, I wish I had known - I just drove by that BB about an hour ago but didn't go in. I live in North Cinci (Mason), but get up to Dayton once or twice a week for work.

Honestly, though, I am giving up on all the stores but Target. Everytime I have gone to a Target since Black Friday, their Arcades are all Jaspers. I am holding out for a Pro Jasper, though - I hope they get some in for the $40 gift card deal next week.

Assuming your $10 coupon is good for other things - maybe you could use it on a game or another controller instead of the console itself. Often those coupons don't work on games but do work on accessories like a controller or wireless network adapter. That would give you more freedom regarding where you can shop for the console.

For anyone interested - I just saw an Arcade Jasper at the Target in West Chester right off of I-75 on exit 22.

Well, thanks anyway. Though on BB's site, the BB at the Dayton Mall says it is out of stock, though the other BB's in Dayton report them in stock.

I would go to Target, there's one in Huber Heights, though if we would finally ever go check out that newish IKEA in West Chester, I could hit up that Target. The thing is, I have that $10 coupon and $105 in reward certificates that start expire in January. I could theoretically get the Arcade for like $90, but I could use that on something else.

I would get the Pro, but I can easily get a 120GB hard drive on eBay for $90 plus MS Live Cashback.

Either way, I'll try BB first, otherwise I will try to hit up a Target.

It's a baby boy! I mean...Jasper!

Ordered Xbox Arcade (with Sega Tennis, etc.) for $199 from Dell on Cyber Monday with free Rock Band 2 (game only.) Free shipping UPS - received today.

842x, FDOU. Mfg date of 10-16
Has the 175 watt power supply, but 12.1 Amp box, with split power plug port and 214 mb free memory on dashboard.

First time owner - glad I waited just long enough. I hate noise, I hate heat, and most of all I would hate to have to send it in. Figured the pro and elite don't have much more, and had a way better chance of getting a jasper arcade.
Purchased a 20gb Hard Drive +refurb wireless controller from circuit city for only $40. Figure I got a pretty good deal, and didn't even have to leave my chair!
Feel like I got a pretty good deal, so don't feel guilty for buying one even though I don't play games much.

Congrats! Good to know that Dell orders are getting to be Jaspers now. Apparently Amazon orders contain Jaspers too, though I would still rather get it in store to be safe.

Like you, I'm glad I waited long enough to see this more reliable model. Who knew an Xbox 360 would be hard to find just like a Wii, and weirder that we are searching for a hardware revision of console =)

FYI CT people - had to hit the mall for a few things and swung by the BB in West Hartford, saw atleast three jasper arcade units (842, 843 (2 of those) 12.1a box, etc.), holding out for pros though - newest for those was 836 and 832's, I wont even get into the elites... there were ones with 07 mfr dates on them :disgust:

Yes according to my store, we are getting shipments Tues, Thurs, and Saturday during holiday seasons, which mean new stock if they have room for it on the floor will be out either Wed, Fri, or Sunday. Every store may be different, idk. I hope you find your Jasper Leward

For anyone in the Phoenix, AZ area I just purchased a 0844X CSON Arcade Jasper at the Fry's Electronics in Tempe and I saw quite a few of them too. Also at the Fry's Electronics in Phoenix the one at I17 and Thunderbird they had plenty of 0842 CSON Pros that were Jasper but they didn't have any Arcade Jaspers. Hope this helps anyone out I know Piter has been looking for a Jasper here in AZ. The manufacturing date on my console is 11-5-08 so it looks like these are reaching stores about a month after they are made so hopefully everyone well get their hands on a Jasper soon!

Paydirt in Seattle!

Frys in Renton has had Jasper Arcades since last Tues. Tonight I went and found my Pro.

Team: CSON
Mft Date; 10-19-2008
0842X
12.1A
Value Bundle 2008 EN/E

Northgate, Bellevue and Tacoma Best Buys were at 841xx Pros, but not turning over very fast. Frys has been turning over a ton in the last two weeks, so I'd check there if you are in need.

Congrats on the Jaspers guys. I'll be picking mine up in a few weeks. Updates on the Dell situation would be nice.

biggdogg17 and others -

Sorry i forgot to say - I'm in Fargo, ND, and it looks like my Dell Jasper Arcade came from Dallas TX. How many distros does Dell have in the US? I would assume they have less stock sitting on floors than B&M stores, and that the Arcade units especially would sell quick considering the good deals they've had lately.

Other than the 175watt power supply, all the puzzle pieces fit perfect. Thanks for the thread - it's been extremely helpful.

Hi all,

just for information, i've found arcade FDOU 843x in France (Toulouse) but i saw 14.2A through the packaging and didn't buy the box.
It may be a jasper but i'm not sure. So wait and see but we are near the goal in Europe.
