Im in the UK and I have been looking, but as mentioned above either they are on very old stock or it is very hard to actually have a look at the boxes yourself. Its my birthday today and I was really hoping to get a Jasper as a wee prezzy.Ah well,I'll just wait a couple of more weeks to see what happens.Im also posting and looking at the Scan forum. The OP asked when they would be getting their new stock in and was told last Friday, but according to the mods on the forum there was some sort of electrical fault which messed up their system. But its now Monday and they still havent let us know the lot numbers on their recent boxe's.

Has anyone a similar experience as I had when setting up the Jasper?

What I mean, is.....I've now had 5 XBOX'S with HDMI. Everytime I would do the initial setup, the screen would detect the optimal resolution as 1080i for my Panasonic TH50PX600U plasma tv. BUT, with the Jasper, it immediately set up the display at 720P.....so I asked it to detect the optimal settings again. It came back as 720P as optimal for my tv. Now, I know my TV doesn't do 1080p, and it has a native resolution of 1366 X 768. The tv does 1080i, but it has to scale since the native resolution doesn't match.

It may sound obsurd and not highly likely, but with the Jasper, the text on the screen is sharper at 720p than the older XBOX's at 720p. Call me crazy.... I tried the 720p resolution with the other XBOX's, and there was no difference to 1080i in my opinion, so I left it at 720p since it was closest to my native resolution.

My question is.....why would the Jasper detect the optimal resolution differently than a Zephyr Elite, and 3 Falcons (1 Arcade/2 Holiday Pro's)? Do you think it has a new HANA chip inside? Now I have even more reason to rip it open a bit sooner than I wanted to.....

My samsung DLP is 1080P, so I didn't run into anything between the Falcon and Jasper setups. Probably doesn't help you much.

Looks like I found some Jaspers in Germany.

I went to the local Media Markt (Dietzenbach , Rhein Main area) today and found 6 new delivered arcade (Sega Superstar tennis bundle). The lot no. on the box says 0839 (ADUE) but the serial on the console shows 84105. So I had a deeper look on the console label and it says 12.1A

I took one with me and got the following:

- The console is labeled 12.1A on the +12V rail
- It reports 256MB internal memory
- The power connector is a Jasper one
- The PSU is a 175W one
- The MFR date is 2008-10-09

Interesting point on the box label. I discovered that the label was put at an other label. So I removed the Lot 0839 (ADOU) label an found an 0841 (FDOU) label. So they put an older lot label on a newer one, strange.

I didn't checked all of the boxes in the shop but minimum two others shows also serial 84105 and 12.1A.

I think they changed the label to match with the packs already on sale. Vendors don't like to have to change their database for the "same" product". There are lots of differents packs to insert in databases, they would cry if they had to change for a hardware revision that people don't have to know.
But it's a good point for us : a changed label would be an easy way to find a jasper.

UK Jasper Hunters, just checked the Hexus forum thread posted by Tanna Tanna further up this page, and it appear the 'New' stock at Scan.co.uk is old, like manufactured July 18th 2008 old, disappointing, very dissappointing.

anyone got news on Amanzon.co.uk and Play.com's stock?

Long time lurker from the Seattlepi blog and here. Thanks to everyone who has contributed in this hunt. For anyone searching in southern NJ so far no luck finding jasper. Circuit city in Deptford has three arcades team fdou lot 0842X but all state 14.2 amps. Kmart had 1 with a july build date. Target had none on the floor. Walmart has none on the floor (deptford and audobon). Will check gamestop's in area as soon as get chance (swamped with work and caring for relative who recently had surgery). If anyone else in the area locates jasper, please do tell. A question regarding jasper identifying: has anyone been able to confirm the product code XGX-00019 as jasper? From all the jasper photo's that I've seen all had this code. Are there falcons out there also using this code?

That is a good question. On the Newegg Arcade post that I made yesterday, I noticed that the new sku in Newegg's listing, uses the XGX-00019 product code, which is different from the other Arcades on the site. Also, Bboyhacks photo's of his Japser show that product code on the box as well. All it would take to disprove it is to have someone see if a falcon has this product code.

In the Hexus.net thread Scan.co.uk are reporting that their new stock of Pro models are made in July and 14.2A Falcon models. :-(

They are a small (albeit very helpful) online retailer, so hopefully one of the larger British firms (Play or Amazon.co.uk) will have newer stock from Microsoft.

On the Hexus.net thread, one guy says that he ordered a console from Amazon.co.uk a couple of weeks ago and it was manufactured October but wasn't a Jasper, and another poster points out that Amazon.co.uk and GAME were the first two places in the UK to get Falcon consoles last year and it was Arcade models first, then Pro then Elite.

So, my plan remains the same ... wait until last possible day before Xmas delivery to order an Arcade from Amazon.co.uk and simply hope.

Well, Im gonna get mine from GAME, just before xmas......and purchase a warranty with it. When it fails (falcon) then ill just return it to game who will swap it out for me (hopfully) and it will 99% be a jasper by then.

Oh, and trust me it WILL fail within the year

I got a 175w one with my Jasper, is there a noticeable difference between the two? Why did you want 150w?

Also, has anyone or website done a legitimate test of noise level/heat between Jasper and older Xbox's?

Update from Portland Oregon, went to most Best Buys and Targets from the Oregon/Washington boarder on both I-5 and I-205 down to Fry's in Wilsonville.

Arcade - Needless to say, all had Jasper Arcades, Jantzen Beach Best Buy was the newest with a build date of 11-06-2008. Week 44 I believe.
Pro's - Didn't look much at Pro's, but all Best Buys hovered around week 37-38 and had 20-30 minimum. Fry's were the newest, but no Jaspers from what I saw
Elite - Best Buys were all old. Found 1 in week 40, most significantly older, even found a 2007.

As a side note, all of the Elites found at target's, were from CSON, week 42. None were Jaspers.

All this brings me to a conclusion, after searching for multiple hours, mostly in vain as an Elite was my focus. I had to ask myself, what's so important about the Elite. Sure, it's black, but after you get over that, if all 3 systems (Arcade, Pro and Elite) are essentially the same system with different accessories, right? So if my math works out. Aracade ($199), 120GB HDD ($149), Wired Headset ($19.99) totals to 169.97. Only difference between that and the Elite is: Color, HDMI cable, Network Cable and games difference. So if you assume that most of us have a Network cable lying on the floor next to us, and probably a spare HDMI (I do), or pick one up at Monoprice.com for cheap, you can have an white elite and save $30.

The only possible hangup is backwards compatibility, which comes default with the Pro and Elite, but from everything I can find online, adding the HDD to the Arcade and downloading from Xbox live will fix this.

Now, on to my question to all of you, what am I missing in the above conclusion, because I've been staring at if for a few hours while at work and I've convinced myself that I'm missing something. So, as my third party eyes, what do you all think?

I just returned from my lunch hour here in St. Louis and went to the BB in Bridgeton and also the Target across the street.
I'm looking for an arcade since I ordered the 120gb HD from Amazon ($134.99 received Friday). FYI this will be my 5th 360, one for each of 3 kids and two refurbished after RROD returns of a Zephyr. We also own a Falcon.

BB had about a dozen Arcades on the shelves in various places. Each and every one of them were 0842's, all 14.2A. Of course the BB associate asked me if I'm finding everything OK. I said, "No", and told him what I was looking for. He was unaware of the GPU change and told me all the consoles had been freshly stocked Sunday morning. I just thanked him and said, "Unfortunately, I need it to be fresher". He understood. FYI, their Pro's were all 0832's, good grief!

Next stop Target, the single Arcade visible was in the case. I came right out with it to the associate and asked if I could see the Arcade in the case so I could look at the serial no., etc. to confirm the lot no. and amperage for the latest hardware revision. He said sure, opened the case, and handed it to me. EUREKA! Here are the specs:

Label: Lot No. 0843X, Team FDOU, Code XGX-00019, XBOX 360 ARCADE SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE 2008 E. Sega Tennis + 5 Games

360: Manufactured 2008-10-24, Serial 84305, 12.1A, 150W Powerbrick, Jasper Power Receptacle

I want to thank each and every individual that contributed to this blog/forum. The information was invaluable in my search. I'll report each time I return to a store with searchable inventory.

In regards to the Elites Pele2001, besides the color it pretty much comes down to what accessories you need and how much storage one wants. I personally have to have the Optical/RCA Audio Adapter that only comes with the Elites (correct me if I'm wrong). It's listed as $42 on Amazon and $50 at BB. When you add up the cost to upgrade a pro with these parts- a cheap HDMI cable, Optical/RCA Audio Adapter, and the increased storage 120gb vs. 60gb, I think the Elite price seems fair for those of us who need those extra items. I don't care about bundled games because they all pretty much suck.

FWIW, I just bought an Elite at Best buy that is a Falcon, but getting a Jasper is important to me. If they don't start showing up by Jan 24, the limit on my return date with Best Buy, I'm probably going to downgrade to a pro system and buy the accessories I need separately, which hopefully won't end up costing more.

Any guesses guys on when the Jasper Elite's will start showing up???

From what I can tell from my local stores it seems that jasper pros will take the longest, maybe not until january. I actually saw an 842 cson elite (falcon) at one best buy and an 844 (unknown team) at target. People are reporting that the 844 elites are still 14.2a so who knows what lot# will be the sweet spot for the elite.

Also I was under the assumption that you can just plug a standard toslink into the component video cable for 5.1. I've been reading about this 1/8th mini stereo jack, but I thought that was proprietary to monster cable.

Thanks to everybody for sharing the information on how to find the Jasper consoles. Here in Denver, I have (so far) visited 2 BBs and 1 CC. The best I found for the PRO was:

Team: FDOU
Lot # 431x
M. Date: 10-8-08.

The number of consoles on the floor was quite impressive. However, no Jasper!! The search goes on.

The only difference I heard of was that the 150watt was a lot lighter than the 175. The power draw is all the same when you have either a 175 or a 150 plugged to a Jasper, but why not have the latest one.
Mines also got 5 vents on both sides, not sure how many vents the 175 had.

The only thing is i can hear the fans going soon as it starts up, im guessing i didnt end up with the "Nidec" fans, o well, you cant win them all, maybe i'll mod mine later down the road to some better fans.

Hi UK hunters

I just found this on amazon uk, the guy's review is:

This model is the only model with internal memory
, making it a little special, in a way, not just a regular model minus the hard drive.
Be sure to buy a headset and a hard drive (20gb, 60gb or 120gb) seperately from this.
-----------Now the Review, of the game included---------
The Game included is a great title for all gamers, casual or hardcore. It has a variety of neat demos and minigames copied right off the Xbox Live Marketplace, to play to their full extent. The best thing about the game (called the Xbox Live Arcade Compilation Disc) is that it is around the same as the internal memory itself.

Now he mentions its got internal memory........this was reviewed by him on the 5th dec....I wonder if he has a jasper model.
