Has anyone a similar experience as I had when setting up the Jasper?
What I mean, is.....I've now had 5 XBOX'S with HDMI. Everytime I would do the initial setup, the screen would detect the optimal resolution as 1080i for my Panasonic TH50PX600U plasma tv. BUT, with the Jasper, it immediately set up the display at 720P.....so I asked it to detect the optimal settings again. It came back as 720P as optimal for my tv. Now, I know my TV doesn't do 1080p, and it has a native resolution of 1366 X 768. The tv does 1080i, but it has to scale since the native resolution doesn't match.
It may sound obsurd and not highly likely, but with the Jasper, the text on the screen is sharper at 720p than the older XBOX's at 720p. Call me crazy.... I tried the 720p resolution with the other XBOX's, and there was no difference to 1080i in my opinion, so I left it at 720p since it was closest to my native resolution.
My question is.....why would the Jasper detect the optimal resolution differently than a Zephyr Elite, and 3 Falcons (1 Arcade/2 Holiday Pro's)? Do you think it has a new HANA chip inside? Now I have even more reason to rip it open a bit sooner than I wanted to.....
Because AnandTech has been on the forefront of the hunt for Jasper. Another blog thread that started it all went south so I moved everyone here.Originally posted by: Kev
why is this thread attracting so many noobs?

I just found this on amazon uk, the guy's review is:
This model is the only model with internal memory, making it a little special, in a way, not just a regular model minus the hard drive.
Be sure to buy a headset and a hard drive (20gb, 60gb or 120gb) seperately from this.
-----------Now the Review, of the game included---------
The Game included is a great title for all gamers, casual or hardcore. It has a variety of neat demos and minigames copied right off the Xbox Live Marketplace, to play to their full extent. The best thing about the game (called the Xbox Live Arcade Compilation Disc) is that it is around the same as the internal memory itself.
Now he mentions its got internal memory........this was reviewed by him on the 5th dec....I wonder if he has a jasper model.

Congrats, all your hard work has paid off!
Unfortunately I didn't get to go to Dayton this weekend, but I am definitely going next weekend (stupid snowy weather and college coursework). But I might hit up the closest Walmart this week just to see if they have any.
I would jump on the newegg sku but I am just not convinced that this would net me a jasper. It looks promising, but it just seems weird that they made a separate listing, and it might not mean anything.
@BlackJack61
Since I didn't get to Dayton, if you still want to stop by the BB sometime this week and check out the stock, that would be awesome, but don't go out of your way, only if you have time.

Went into my local PC World here in UK, the 360 boxes are on display -- cheers -- although they appear to be trying to sell PS3 harder with more marketing materials and promotions -- jeers.
Arcades were 0831 batch, Pro were repacks 0843 but not ADUE team, the other lot of repackagers. 0831, a long way from Jasper in PC World.
Go on you know you want to.Originally posted by: bodybag
Im really considering ordering an arcade from Amazon uk....they must be shipping more 360's than anyone in the uk, and have a good chance of getting a jasper.....
