Hmm, nice. Wondering if I should just grab a PRO. It seems FDOU is mostly pumping out Arcades and CSON has the mfg for the Elite/Pro Jaspers.

Darrell - when you post pics of your Pro, can you please include the sticker from the box? I'm curious if the Pros have any distinguishing features other than a 12.1A label.

To everyone ordering online - I think it'll be a while before you see guaranteed Jaspers online (with the possible exception of Newegg if they are stocking it as a separate SKU). You never know when they'll hit a part of the stack that contains old stock. Only if they've truly been selling out their inventory completely can you assume they only have the new stuff.

Another Update from Denver.

Well, so close but yet so far.....

Tonight I went to a Super Target in North Denver. They only had one PRO left so I asked the lady if she would open the loced glass door. She did and I freaked for the PRO box had:

Lot# 844X
M. Date: 10-30-08
Team: FDOU.

I told her I'd buy it. However, when I got home...a buddy of mine came over and we bent the window back to check the power....sadly it read: 14. Not 12.1.

So I now I get to return it...man..I really thought I found a Jasper in a PRO!!

Went to Target, BB, and Gamestop today in Seattle area.

Target
- low on stock
- arcade: jasper
- pro: 0837

BB
- more than 20 of each
- arcade: jaspers
- pro: 0836/7
- elite: couldn't tell (the sticker doesn't have lot and team info, and can't see amp reading through box window, a number in top right titled "PO" ended in 08467 though)

GameStop (claimed anything made in Oct and later is a Jasper and tried to sell me Falcons)
- low on stock
- pro: 0841

The search continues for me, going to call some places and also ask buy.com buyers next ...

Could still be a Jasper. A lot of them are mislabeled as 14.2A. Basically, 14.2A does not guarantee Falcon or Jasper (nor does it rule out Jasper), but 12.1A does guarantee Jasper.

What do you recommend to confirm? Open the box? I have to admit, I'm a bit nervous doing so since I want to return the sucker...

Oh no - are you saying that the two 844X 14.2 Amp Elites I have held in my hands might have actually been Jaspers? Arrrrrggghhhh!

Hi,

If it was me, I would wait until I saw the 12.1A in the window. I would almost be willing to bet money that if it says 14.2A, then its not Jasper.

However, the 175 watt power bricks that are coming with some of the Jaspers definitely say 14.2A on THEM (the brick NOT the system unit), at least mine does.

I think you made the right choice by putting them down if they said 14.2A on the system unit.

Some people said here it was possible to see beyond the fans with a flashlight : the PCB is marked "Jasper Week 1" or something like that.

Long time reader/lurker since page 2 of the 8bit thread.

Thanks to everyone for information, I've been waiting along time for Jasper. Picked up one up in Best Buy (Yuma, AZ)! along with a 60gb hard kit and Lego Batman (to get $50 GC).

843X manf. on 10-26-08 12.1 amp with a 150w power supply = Arcade

I could easily see the 12.1amp rating through the serial number window, almost bought a 844x pro but no matter which way I wiggled the box I couldn't make out the amp rating.

Question - if only the Arcade Jaspers have 256mb built in, if you send it in for repair RROD or other failure. Wouldn't you have to get a Jasper Arcade back? Unlike the memory cartridge or hard drive which can be removed prior to shipping to MS, the 256mb is built in. I would think at the very least you should get another Arcade with 256mb built in? Although I guess MS might just include a 256mb card. Whatcha think?

They have sent people new PSU's when they have changed the motherboards, and a PSU is way more expensive than a memory card.

So they probably would just send out a memory card to you, as to MS, there is absolutely no difference between Jasper and Falcon. - Which is what I hate

To get back onto the UK track, Has anyone in the UK ordered from Amazon UK.

There must be thousands reading this thread. So somebody must have ordered one in the last week?

If so, come on post and say what you got.

Yep - confirmation via the power connector is the best way if the label reads 14.2A. With Arcades, the label on the box with "Value Bundle 2008 E" may be an indicator as well. Only you can decide if it's worth the risk with regards to a possible return. If you can, just be patient and wait a bit longer.

Yep, could have been. There are quite a few Jaspers out there labeled 14.2A. I personally didn't want to risk it and/or deal with the hassle of returning, so I put those down too.

Interesting, this is the first I've heard where a jasper would have the 14.2A on the console. It looked like the arcades all had 12.1, so why would any other Jasper have a higher amp rating?

Does this mean that the 12.1A marking, which was supposed to be the definitive marking of a Jasper, now isn't the case? If true, then what makes it identifiable, b/c mfg date isn't credible as we have found out.

Hmm, the odds of getting a Jasper that was mislabelled have to be extremely small I would think. To be sure wait for the 12.1A label.

Shoot, Nice idea though confirming it with him.

It looks like they aren't being stocked in time for Christmas then.

The most definitive way at this point is to look at the power connector on the CONSOLE. Split bar on top = Jasper. Single bar on top = Falcon.

Good point, forgot about that. The only issue is that you can't see that from outside the box. I know you can always return it but I would rather not have to deal with that. I just got to be patient, but my patience will wear thin if I don't find one by Christmas Day.
