Another Update from Denver.
Well, so close but yet so far.....
Tonight I went to a Super Target in North Denver. They only had one PRO left so I asked the lady if she would open the loced glass door. She did and I freaked for the PRO box had:
Lot# 844X
M. Date: 10-30-08
Team: FDOU.
I told her I'd buy it. However, when I got home...a buddy of mine came over and we bent the window back to check the power....sadly it read: 14. Not 12.1.
So I now I get to return it...man..I really thought I found a Jasper in a PRO!!

Could still be a Jasper. A lot of them are mislabeled as 14.2A. Basically, 14.2A does not guarantee Falcon or Jasper (nor does it rule out Jasper), but 12.1A does guarantee Jasper.

They have sent people new PSU's when they have changed the motherboards, and a PSU is way more expensive than a memory card.Originally posted by: Deserted
Although I guess MS might just include a 256mb card. Whatcha think?
Yep - confirmation via the power connector is the best way if the label reads 14.2A. With Arcades, the label on the box with "Value Bundle 2008 E" may be an indicator as well. Only you can decide if it's worth the risk with regards to a possible return. If you can, just be patient and wait a bit longer.Originally posted by: Schwack
What do you recommend to confirm? Open the box? I have to admit, I'm a bit nervous doing so since I want to return the sucker...
Yep, could have been. There are quite a few Jaspers out there labeled 14.2A. I personally didn't want to risk it and/or deal with the hassle of returning, so I put those down too.Originally posted by: Blackjack61
Oh no - are you saying that the two 844X 14.2 Amp Elites I have held in my hands might have actually been Jaspers? Arrrrrggghhhh!

Woah slow down there ... what's this with Jaspers being marked as 14.2A, when did we see that happen?

So they probably would just send out a memory card to you, as to MS, there is absolutely no difference between Jasper and Falcon. - Which is what I hate
To get back onto the UK track, Has anyone in the UK ordered from Amazon UK.
There must be thousands reading this thread. So somebody must have ordered one in the last week?
If so, come on post and say what you got.

Hi AnthonyG
The guy who posted the internal memory thread on Amazon uk, has just replied and his was a 14.2A, so looks like amazon uk are still shipping falcons.

Interesting, this is the first I've heard where a jasper would have the 14.2A on the console. It looked like the arcades all had 12.1, so why would any other Jasper have a higher amp rating?
Does this mean that the 12.1A marking, which was supposed to be the definitive marking of a Jasper, now isn't the case? If true, then what makes it identifiable, b/c mfg date isn't credible as we have found out.

The most definitive way at this point is to look at the power connector on the CONSOLE. Split bar on top = Jasper. Single bar on top = Falcon.
