ah heck Im really getting slow in my old age.Just noticed that this has been posted.Doh
He was asked to check the 360. he said 14.2, but did he check the 360 or the power supply? My PS is a 175W but I have a Jasper (12.1 on the console), because evidently the initial ones came with older power supplies.

What I did notice is that the XBox model the Amazon buyer is referring to is listed as 2007 model?

Gosh darn and ah heck it. This is very annoying, perhaps there won't be Jaspers in the UK before Xmas. But then, they have been spotted in France and Germany; maybe all the old inventory was dumped in the UK?

Update on my hunt. Gamestop in Pine Hill has plenty of jaspers on hand. They order small quantities and restock frequently. Got an arcade (already have 120gb drive) lot 0845X team fdou mfg date 11/2/08 12.1A on console and 150w power supply. The sticker states XGX-00019 and arcade system value bundle 2008 E.

That's the good news. Now the bad news. This thing is noisy even without anything in the dvd drive. When powering on there are all kinds of "grinding" and "rattling" noises. And the delta fans are loud as well. Ironically my old zephyr has the same fans and they are relatively quiet. And that 360 didn't make all these other noises. I'm dissapointed in that but I guess I'll hunt down some nidec fans (or just swap the fans from the still working older console). Btw, could not find any team cson.

I've never posted here much but I did want to mention that I bought a confirmed jasper online two weeks ago from walmart.com - granted it is an arcade version but still is a jasper. I was told that walmart was to receive the first jasper shipments. My local store had older model arcades and pro's so I took a gamble online. It worked.

Sorry if this info has been posted already.

So it's early morning today in Denver and I'm about to return my PRO that I purchased last night thinking it was the Jasper. In my previous post, I had stated I found it with the LOT #844X and M. Date of 10-30-08 but my buddy and I bent the box back (so I wouldn't disturb the packaging for the return) and we saw 14.2 on the back of the console! Darn.

I should point out that it took my buddy and I some time in bending the package in an angle we could shine the light into the slit. That's when we saw the power.

I just don't know how I will be able to do this in a store without security dropping in.

Funny, at some BBs, they're on a pile and no one really bothered us yesterday while one store sent the employee over to ask what I was doing.

At Target and CC, they have them behind the glass lock and they stand there while you inspect the box. That's why last night I didn't have the opp to try and peek for the power...however I thought I was safe with the M. Date and Lot....

Going to return it to another store near Boulder and see what happens...

Jasperhunter,

I wish I had read your post before I got to work. I have many pics, but not of the box. I will take a pic when I get home tonight and add to flickr.....

Now for the pics of the Jasper XBOX 360 Pro (money shot baby!!! )

Anyway, I have much clearer pics this time. Please excuse the lighting. It was 2am and flourescent lighting. I got as many shots as I thought would be pertinent to our curiosity. Upon inspection, it appears that the flash ram is 16mb...not 256mb like many of us hoped. I will share, that on my motherboard, there is no mention of Jasper anywhere. I also did not take pics of my PSU and female PSU socket. No point really....you will see the Jasper GPU very clearly in my pics. Well, let get started shall we...??

JASPER GPU
JASPER CPU
motherboard top side
motherboard bottom
flash ram
system ram mobo top
system ram mobo bottom
HANA scaler chip
southbridge chip
capacitors
nidec fan
Jasper Pro Box Label

If anyone has any questions, I'll try to answer them as quickly as I can......

****<EDIT....somebody more experience than myself should look at the flash ram identification. I have read on HYNIX'S site that the chip might be 128mb....But also, looking at Moddage's pic on his arcade, if I plug in the numbers for his flash ram it says it's 2gb....??? I read the description on mine as 16mX8it....so I drew the conclusion of 16mb of flash ram. Moddages arcard flash ram is listed as 256mX8bit......

Thanks for the pics Darrell!

I know that we have confirmed that the Jasper Pro's do not show 256MB of onboard RAM in the dashboard like the Arcades do. Has anyone confirmed a physical difference in the components between a Jasper Pro and a Jasper Arcade?

For the life of me I still can't understand why they would want to produce and stock more than one motherboard, all for a measly 256MB of RAM.

thanks,
-Dave

I could be wrong, but I have read where ms was selling more arcades than pro's at retail. It seems to make sense considering that at the arcade price point they are competing with a very aggressive and popular nintendo wii. That could explain the move for two seperate mobos.

It doesn't have to be a new mobo, it can be one step skipped on the line, i.e., don't solder a 256 memory chip on the board.

This is concerning. The whole reason for me in buying a jasper was for it to be quieter for our Media Center extender. Can anybody else weigh in on the noise levels or point me to a review? I've heard that the heat output is much lower on Jasper, so you think they could reduce the fan noise...

If you put that part # in at Amazon, you also get dropped to the Arcade, though it makes no mention of the part # on the actual page - so its unclear what you may be getting.

Also, the Dell site show a 256MB memory unit as a included accessory - again unclear as to what you are getting.

I still think that your best bet is to verify physically for yourself at point of purchase at this time. Unless we get a string of Dell purchases that are all come in Jasper ....

I can tell you from my personal experience, that my Jasper Pro (CSON) is the most quiet of the 5 other xboxes I've had. BUT, mine has the Nidec fans, which many feel are less audible than the Delta's.....the arcade Jaspers (FDOU's) are being packed with Delta's.

BUT, the fans are a serious YMMV.....I've had 3 falcons in my hunt for the jasper. All three had Delta fans, and all three of them sounded different from each other. I suspect the tolerances on these fans are not as strict as they could/should be......

Another point is the lite-on drive packing with all new XBOX'S...not just jaspers. So far, I feel they've got better in regards to sound levels. BUT remember, this console will never be as quiet as a dedicated DVD player....DVD players simply don't have to spin as fast as the xbox 360 dvd drive to get the data off the drive in a timely manner.

Hi Darrell, thanks for the pics !

As asked by JasperHunter:
...could you Darrell - when you post pics of your Pro, can you please include the sticker from the box? I'm curious if the Pros have any distinguishing features other than a 12.1A label...
It should help us for the hunting !

Yep, a DVD player is only going read at the standard 1X speed, as it only needs to spin it that fast to read a DVD movie disc. The xbox has a 12X drive and reads the games at that speed so it is going to be louder automatically. Though when playing back a movie, I think the xbox would only need to spin the disc at 1X.

Also, to the guy with the noisy xbox, maybe it is defective, as there shouldn't be a reason whay it would be making grinding noises and whatnot. If you don't think it is normal, then I would call MS support or return it while it is easy for you to do so.

Hi folks !! Longtime lurker !! Just wanted to add that I received my XGX-0019 from Newegg today (thanks for the post here that led me to it) and it was a Jasper . 2008 E label - check, 12.1 A on the console - check, twin prong on power cable - check, shipped with the 175 W power brick though and interestingly, Lot 0842X with a mfg date of 10-13-2008 though! The new Dell Home deal is also on the same model! Go get em!!

The hunting goes on??
Europe / Germany:

I guess i have a jasper, guess because some things are different:
OK, first of all the box have:

- 12,1 A Label
- new Jasper Power connection Socket like Picture
http://i3.photobucket.com/albu...box360_Model_Guide.jpg
- 256 MB Memory Inside
- Sticker: LOT NO: 0839 , Team ADUE , XBox 360 Arcade Cnsl Bndle Xbox 360 EMEA Hdwr PAL DVD Sega Games

The only things that are different are:

- Early LOT Nr. 84105
- 2008 ? 10 - 09
- Power Brick with 175 W labelling

But I also read the info from JasperHunter that some Jaspers are seen with 175 W brick (only Label?) but different Power Plug

What do you guys think???

I have pictures, but where to upload?

Thanks,

DanB

Awesome, good to know.

I'm glad to know that my post helped you out, but credit goes to the xbox-scene forums where I saw a post on it.

About the Dell sale, I think that is more true on Arcades. Someone on the slickdeals.net thread for the Dell sale today said that they got a PRO falcon when they ordered from Dell last week. So if you want an arcade, I think you probably could order from Dell, but I'd go to the store for pro or elite.

Very good job Darrell! Thanks for the great pics!

Regarding memory, I am pretty sure the numbers from the Hynix site are MegaBIT/GigaBIT and not MegaBYTE. That would make sense as 128 MBit divided by 8 is 16 MByte and 2 GBit divided by 8 is 256 MegaByte.

Sorry for the double post but I think it's better to split it.

News from the german Jasper hunting front:

MediaMarkt Mannheim-Sandhofen:
- about 15 Arcades Sega Superstar Tennis bundles and normal ones no Jasper, no Lot 84x serials on consoles, bundles are repackaged by team ADUE (Lot 839)
- about 15 to 20 Pros no Jasper only one 841X team FDOU but labeled 14.2A, other Pros where lot 83x
- some Elites, forget about them...

MediaMarkt Mannheim-Neckarau
- more than fifty Arcades, ALL Sega Superstar Tewnnis bundles team ADUE Lot 839, consoles serial numbers differ between 820 and 835
- many, many Pros and Elites, but too old 81x to 835

So the hunt continues here. I am starting to get nervous as x-mas comes near...
