Well Guys, I think my days on the is board may be over for I got a Jasper Xbox 360. As my previous posts stated, I could NOT find a Jasper PRO here in Denver. Based on others' advice, here is what I did:

Went to Best Buy
Bought a Jasper Arcade (which are EVERYWHERE). $199
Bought the cheapest advertised family game: Avatar for $14.99.
Best Buy then gave me a $50 Gift Card.
Used the $50 gift card to buy the $99 60GB hard drive.
Went online and bought a $5 HDMI cable from Monoprice.com.

So ended up with a "modified" version of the Jasper PRO cheaper than the actual PRO.

What was really weird was at the last BB my buddy and went to, he discovered 5 PROs with LOT#435X and M. Dates of 11-7-08. However, he bent back the panels and they were not 12,1 but 14s! Weird. I really thought I found the first Jasper PROs but didn't.

Thought i'd share my experience.

I tried pulling back the cardboard a little bit but I couldn't get it to lift up easily and I didn't want to damage the box too much.

A BB employee started to question me, but I just told him honestly that I was trying to look for a new 360 Elite because it is a better revision and he told me all of these have been sitting for awhile and then walked away.

If anyone wants to risk it or check out the 0843 Elite, I left it at the top of the pile of 360s when you first walk in, but at the "back" of that pile if you just walked in.

I also checked the label and it said "XBOX 360 ELITE SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE 2008 EN", no "E" at the end so I'm assuming its not a Jasper.

I think the "E" label is only applicable to Arcades. In fact, I suspect it has to do with a separate SKU for ones with the internal "memory card."

Oh, I thought the Pro versions of the 360 Jasper had the "E" too? I can't remember

I was trying to hold out for a Jasper Elite and they had a couple of really new ones, but they were still 14.2 A.

This is in Portland Oregon.

JasperHunter, this post is what made me think that the Pros have "E" at the end? Not sure if that means the Elites might have them too?

Did not purchase since I have already returned similar.

Best Buy, Hollywood, CA - when I last checked 3 weeks ago they were down to 1 Elite. Great, I thought.
Now the Elites have been restocked with at least 20 units ranging from 817 to 836. Darn it!

And oh yes, they did have some Arcade 12.1A Jaspers.

Hey Zuker, I'm in Hollywood too, I gotta go get 2 Jasper Arcades, one to replace mine, and one for my bro for Xmas, any other spottings besides Best Buy, or did Best Buy have a good amount? I'm guessing you're talking about the one on La Brea, right?

The Best Buy on La Brea had a lot of Arcades, I only picked up one of them to check and it was a 12.A Jasper. I think it would be productive for you to go there and check it out.

My Falcon Pro has the same exact text, including the "EN/E."

I just realized why it's harder to see the current rating on Pros & Elites: the hard drive is pre-installed, leaving less wiggle room in the box. I don't know why this didn't occur to me earlier.

I think it's hard to make the conclusion that it's "ZERO %" based on one data point. At some point, they will become Jasper Pros from all the online outlets.

Oh ok cool, good information to know. Now I wonder if the 0843 Elite was a Jasper or not ... Hmm.

Makes sense what you said about the Hard drive too. Too bad that its more difficult to see that 12.1 on the Pro's / Elite's. I might just wait until after Christmas to see if I can find a newer Elite.

I've been trying to find a Jasper Elite for a long while now. Highest lots i've found were:

843 FDOU @ Anaheim, Ca Frys
844 CSON @ Chino Hills, Ca Best Buy

All of them have read 14.2A though.

I wonder if Elites need a different board than the Pros and Arcades? Or have I misread and someone has purchased an Elite jasper already?

Tad bit off topic, I apologize! But if I posted any other place I'm worried that the experts that are on this forum may not see my question.

As I have never owned an XBox before, does it matter at all if I put the console in a horizontial or vertical position? Ventilation should not be a problem in either position.

I know that over the last several months, as I lurked the web, I thought I saw the answer somewhere, but I forget where!

Thanks for your patience,

Dude

Jasper Pro found in Seattle area Target!

If anyone around Seattle is looking for a Jasper Pro, the Woodinville Target is a good bet. Plus, the $40 gift card deal is still in effect through the end of today.

Today I visited the Target stores in Factoria, Redmond, Issaquah, and finally hit paydirt at the Woodinville store. Factoria and Redmond both had lot #844 Pro bundles, but they were falcons (14.2A on the 12V rail). Issaquah had a lot #839 and I didn't bother asking the salesperson to take it out from behind the glass. At Woodenville I found my coveted Jasper Pro. I got it for $299 + tax, with a free $40 gift card thrown in.

Here are the details:

From the back of the console:
Manufacture date: 2008-10-30
Lot: 844
12V--12,1A

From the sticker on the outside of the box:
XBOX 360 PRO SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE 2008 EN/E
LOT NO: 0844X
Team: FDOU

Many thanks go out to the folks on this forum who've worked so hard to get info on Jasper and have shared the results of their efforts. I've been following this discussion since it began on 8bitjoystick's SeattlePI thread. You guys rock!

UPDATE:
After opening the box, I confirmed that the console has the Jasper power connector with the split bar on top. It came with a 175W power supply.

Just found tons of Jasper Pros at Best Buy in Seattle (Northgate)! 20081213_1930 PST

They have a lot of 0844X from FDOU, but I could not clearly see the markings on the console label, so I passed over those. They also have a bunch of 0842X from team CSON. These I could easily poke a finger in and see the .1A on the console.

I grabbed the 0842X CSON and it IS a Jasper Pro!!!

Details - Outside box sticker
Lot 0842X
Team CSON
XBOX 360 PRO SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE 2008 EN/E

Details - Console Label
2008-10-23 MFR Date
Serial blah-blah-84307
12.1A
Split prong

I'm glad the Jaspers are finally rolling out, but has anyone found a 60GB Pro Jasper with the 150w rating yet?

Two interesting things I found at the Best Buy in Tucson, AZ:

#1. I had to bend the carboard a bit, but I found an Elite with a 12.1 amp rating, which sounds like a Jasper to me. I haven't seen too many Jasper Elites yet, so people might be interested. It was lot 845X, if that helps, I didn't write down the team # or anything though. I didn't want to check any of the others because I had to REALLY bend the cardboard to see it, and didn't want to get thrown out or something.

#2. There were 2 Arcade units (also lot 845X) that had the 14.5 rating for the 12V rail. All the others were Jaspers. So even lot 845X is NOT a guarantee for Jaspers.

@JasperRob I think that?s the first FDOU jasper pro I?ve heard of

bestbuy Waterford ct:
Arcade: only 4 and all MFR dates are too old to even mention
Pro: about 40 and 4 or 5 were FDOU 845 I thought for sure one had to be a jasper, but all were 14.2a
Elite: a dozen or so the newest being CSON 842 14.2a

Target Waterford ct:
The place was swamped and there wasn't a single 360 left behind the glass case, I walked over and asked an employee if they had any 360's left. A few seconds later he said no and then looked over at a lone arcade that someone asked him to hold but hadn't returned for a couple of hours. I looked at the amperage rating and pay dirt!!! 12.1a!!!. Not a second after I had the box in my hands some one else asked if there were any more 360's. Man that's some luck right there, literally a 30 second window and not only did I get the last 360 but it's a jasper, I still can't believe it... anyways here's the stats.

BOX: sega superstar?s tennis arcade bundle
Team: FDOU
Lot: 842x
XGX-00019
Xbox 360 arcade system value bundle 2008 E
WO (under the bar code)

CONSOLE
Lot: 842x
MFR: 10-18-08
PSU: 150w
(edit knew i forgot somthing):12v--12.1a

Despite this being my first 360 I have to say that it's much quieter and cooler than I expected, I have a small air purifier that sounds like one of those white noise generators and the dvd drive is just audible over that. Mind you this is coming from someone who is used to a slimline ps2. If any one wants kill-a-watt measurements I have a friend I can borrow halo 3 from.

12.1 A on the rail
I've seached all the BB, targets and FMs in the area, lots of Arcades but no Pros.
Now I'll have to send the other one I bought back to Dell.

Sweet!!!!!!!!! I'm going to be driving by it tomorrow, and will stop by. Were there a lot of them?

The WO L4 lot is on the pallet with the Elites stacked on top.
Probably 40 Pros on the stack,
Glad to help

Got it! Same one as yours, thanks for the tip, Shortbuss.

This is my first 360, so I'm not sure about the noise levels. When in the dashboard, the noise is pretty much neglegible. However, when I play a game off a disc, it gets considerably louder. I can also hear a higher pitch sound coming from the drive, it's somewhat similar to the one in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NByr51PDEo

Shortbuss, is your's behaving the same?

I'm guessing this is typical, and I can get rid of this by playing off the HDD, but I wanted to find out if perhaps my drive was bad?

Thanks

Wow, I can't believe it actually took me this long to finally join this forum. As others I was a long time follower of the blog post over at seattle-pi, reading (I dare to admit) every single post over a long period of time - because Jasper evidently was "just around the corner..." Obviously I followed the Jasper stalking over here, and finally decided to join.

I'm from Norway and have done a bit of Jasper hunting myself, more so now that Jaspers hve been identified and confirmed. After searching this topic for the term "norway" to see whether someone here had found jaspers in my country - and ending up with no results at all - I decided to contribute myself, as I know the Jasper hype is on in Norway too.

I am one of the few, and probaly amongst the first, to get my hands on an opus - as I sent my old xenon to repair a while back and got a shiny new 835 model without hdmi in return five days later. My friend did send his xenon for repair a week earlier, but got the same xenon machine in return.

In my Jasper hunting I'm first and foremost looking for an elite for myself, but I have also been checking out the arcades and pros. I'm not surprised that the stores are so far behind the american stores - but at least the stores have the boxes out in the open for ease of access. The newest models I have seen are 838 elites and pros, and only 835 arcades (for some reason), but often I come across serial numbers from as far back as mid 2007.

Hi all, this is ValeYard from waaaay back on the Seattle forum, glad to see you guys from back then are still happy and now Jasperfied.

As you may know, I crumbled a few weeks b4 Jasper first contact and have a lot 0838 Falcon; it's ok, I'm not bitter However, I live in Germany atm, and there is very little Jasper joy in my area. Yeasterday I went to a local, quite large, electronics store in Mainz (the capitel town of a state). There were plenty of Arcades there, all ADUE 0839, I looked at A LOT of amperage readings, I must have looked like a crazy, and they were all 14.2. The 60 GB Premiums were still 0838, like the one I bought almost a month ago.

I think it will take a while for the Jaspers to seep through here, although they are more difficult to id, since they are being repackaged. Regarding Pros and Elites, it may take even longer, because you guys in the US seem to be finding Pros etc. with team CSON and I've NEVER seen a CSON in Europe.

btw, @ dudewheresmyjasper: Peter Moore once said in an interview, he felt the vertical position was better for ventilation. I agree, because the side of the xbox that gets warm is the side with the Mobo underneath it, which just happens to be the side it lies on horizontally, just like the Wii, which also gets warm there. Plus, vertically the xbox is surrounded by more air volume than horizontally. That said, if you have a Jasper, I wouldn't worry anyway, and the temperature difference between horizontal and vertical shouldn't be that great. Just do what you prefer, cause horizontally the bottom vent is completely free and can suck even more cool air.

So maybe I'll see some of you freshly baked Jasper-owners on live. U can find me under my handle here. CU

I think so! This is great news, I had almost given up hope of getting one by Christmas. The targets here are still sold out and didn't get any in yesterday. Maybe he should buy it so he can get the first jasper elite (and then ship it to me =)

By chance do you recall if it was a CSON or FDOU elite? (CSON uses large printing and FDOU uses the small printing for serial labels).
