Came with 150watt power supply
12.1a on the console

But one thing I noticed that was different from my first one is this one has the small silver capacitors with blue tops instead of the older style tall black and gold ones on my first Jasper. I guess It just depends on what supply line they are on. And also there is no Jasper sticker on the Mobo behind the fans this time.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has also gotten a Jasper with the small silver capacitors instead of the older style tall black and gold/silver ones.

That's slightly depressing. CSON or FDOU?

If there is anyone looking in Northern Virginia, I just picked up a Jasper PRO at the Pentagon City Best Buy:

Team: FDOU
Lot: 845X
11-03-2008

They also have Jasper Arcades, didn't check on any of the Elites. Lot numbers are all over the place though, I saw some as old as September.

It's funny how many of the boxes were already ripped from people trying to look at the amperage ratings.

Finally purchased a new xbox and I would not stop until it was a jasper. Went to about 5+ stores in the Montgomeryville,pa area and finally found one with help from an employee at circuit city. I told him the story went back and looked and said he had a lot 845x in the pro so he brought it out and I tore back the packaging a little to see the amp and its 12.1 fdou team. I bought it got it home and it was a jasper but the power brick is still 175w. Really does not bother me since it is a jasper the power brick does nothing for me. Also has the delta fans but it seems real quiet to me so im not bothered by it. A year without a xbox finally pays off.

Magehart, the two Elites were FDOU. I couldn't believe it.
When I saw the 846 I thought "could this be it", but sadly just like the 845's
I saw less than a week ago they were 14.2A.

I will say one thing though, in about a week approximately 80% of their Elite Inventory
disappeared. There were some old ones (817's) still on the floor mixed with some 830's
and the two 846's, but the majority from that Best Buy sale last week were gone. I noticed
this also at two other Best Buy's near me as well. Two weeks ago there were piles of Elites in the 3 stores near me, because they were not selling.

Hopefully this week will be magic for those searching for Elite's

Hello everyone! Have some observations from Sweden to share.
First: www.komplett.com has two types of arcades listed. One with 256mb internal flash memory -> XGX-00014 (could be jaspers?). The others mention nothing about flashmemory -> Q2A-00019

Second: Did some hunting in my local stores and spotted a pile of arcades
Q2A-00019
LOT: 0839
TEAM: ADUE
Amp on console 12.1A (some of the same batch was 14.2)

Still no joy in my part of the world (South Yorkshire). I tried my local Asda again (one of the few places that I can get LOT numbers from). They are all in the 830s, so we still have some time to wait. My Asda don't sell too many due to their lack of bundles IMHO.

Going into town shortly though, gonna ask at my local Game.

CSRX congratulations !!
What were your specs ???

1.)LOT#
2.)last 5 numbers of your serial
3.)manufacture date
4.)TEAM (FDOU or CSON)
5.)Power Brick 150W or 175W

Also mine shipped out of their Tennessee hub instead of New Jersey
(several people I am in contact with got their NewEgg Jaspers out of New Jersey)
so I am a bit worried that I took the gamble for the Paypal deal.

Do you know which distribution center yours shipped out of ?
I should get it by this afternoon.

I haven't heard of XGX-00014, but if it has internal memory, it's almost certainly a Jasper. It may just be a slightly different SKU for Sweden/Europe, likely related to power differences. If the console says 12.1A, it should be Jasper as well.

As you said yourself, it was a Team FDOU model, I would assume all models from FDOU use the Solid State Capacitors (aka SSC aka the smaller silver ones), they are much better than the older capacitors, mostly because SSCs can handle almost twice the stress (power spikes and temperature) as the old ones will bust open, especially the really cheap ones that were coming out of China a few years back, I have no idea if Xboxs were using these cheaper ones, but it was a well known problem in 2003. SSCs cost a little bit more, but the reliability is worth it in my book. There would be no reason for a company to do both standard capacitors and SSCs, it would end up costing them more money, so if you see SSCs, then everything off of that factory line will be using SSC.

The question is, did other companies switch to SSCs for Jaspers too? Was it part of the Jasper requirement? Mind you I'm 99% sure capacitors have nothing to do with 360 problems, but it's just a nice improvement.

PS: I hope I didn't start convincing gamers now that any Jasper isn't good enough, it has to be a SSC Jasper We are an obsessive bunch here.

Hi Fella,
No it was the Doncaster branch of Asda. They turned out to be really helpful, once they are not too busy. As I said earlier though, they don't turn too many around so I would not expect them to get new deliveries that often.

I have just come back from town (Doncaster) and the Gamestation were really helpful too. The guy in there that I spoke to knew what I was talking about when I mentioned Jaspers. He even jotted down some info and asked for some of the websites that I use. Anyway, he said that he would be more than happy to look at the ones in the back. They had just had a delivery this morning, so I had my fingers crossed. Unfortunately the newest one he had was a 0842X Arcade. He also said that it was 14.2A, so no joy there.

I had just been into another store and after a long discussion with the girl in there she said that she was prepared to look in the back at her store. She said "oh, well we had a guy come in before and he wanted to know what LOT numbers we had, because he wanted to chip his console", I nearly fell down when she said that. Anyway, off she went into the store room and I stood there thinking how remarkably helpful she had been. Then after approx 1minute she returned to me and said "just spoke to my boss and he said we are not allowed to open them". I explained that you did not need to open them, but she clearly had no desire to go back to her boss and say anything. She even told me that I would be better off buying online as they have better and cheaper bundles.

If I do come across one I will post here immediately. If anyone else comes across one can they pm my gamertag (peachy001).

Jasper Arcades in Frankfurt/Germany

Hi everybody,

don't know if this has been posted already (but read the last few pages without finding it):

Mediamarkt Frankfurt-Enkheim (near Hessencenter) has some Jasper Arcades (at least one left after I bought mine ;-) Identified by 12.1A (mine still has the 175W power brick - it really is a BRICK - so those who can might want to wait for the 150W part)

I also might have found another way to identify them more easily (have not yet read about it here and it probably only works in Germany or Europe):
It is a Sega Superstar Tennis Bundle which has on top of the box four small circles. The first shows a console, the second a controller, the third says "256 MB M0". Below this circle on the Jaspers I checked it says "Memory" whereas the Falcons had "Memory Unit".

Everything else on the box does not match what I expected for a Jasper:
The Lot No on the cardboard box is 0839 TEAM: ADUE. The other Label is here also Q2A-00019, like the Swedish ones.
The serial number differs from the lot and is actually ... 84105. MFR Date: 2008-10-08, so it really is an old one.

I also saw some Pros (which I would have preferred) with serial 084205, but those were 14.2A Falcons (contrary to the Arcades I could not read the Amperes from the outside, but the salespeople allowed me to open two of them - and yeah I really felt like a freak.. ;-.)
The Elites had serial numbers 0838, so I did not check further. BTW. two weeks ago I checked Mediamarkt Ffm-Nordwestzentrum, but found no Jaspers.

Hope this helps some fellows to get one in time for christmas,
Many, many thanks and Happy Jasper Christmas to you all here!

Gunter

So the only thing better about the small silver capacitors and the older tall ones is there reliability then I guess. glad my second Jasper has them then.

I may have missed a previous post here discussing this, but did anyone do a size and weight comparison between the 150W power "brick" and the 175W.

Is their at least a difference in weight as theorized in the old 8-bit board ???

Jasperhunter did you, Darrell or possibly Anand make any comments (I might have missed)
as to what the actual weight or size difference is for the new 150W "brick"?????

Per JasperDaddy's post, would anyone be able to verify if the way to identify Jaspers in Europe also apply in North America?

Jasper Hunting in NC Raleigh-Cary-Apex area. My goal was to find a Pro Jasper for my son for xmas.

Target in Apex. - looked in case, no luck, get weird looks from sales people despite quick explanation.
Target in Cary - Same
Wal-mart - holly springs - same
Wal-mart - Cary -same
BB in Cary - at least a hundred pro's on the floor. All 836 and 838s
BB in North Raliegh on Capital. - Had a lot less stock on floor, but 842s. Not much time left before xmas, so i decided to look at Arcades, i found the Arcades were 845's and first one i picked up showed 12.1 so I picked it up. Will be getting a HD later.
Don't have the rest of info on label team, etc. and didn't open box to find power supply. Just thought i'd add my $.02 for people looking in the area. They are out there! Don't know if we'll see a Pro in this area before xmas unless at Gamestop or something.

Shopping observations
Most stores I went in over last few days, moms were picking up nintendo DS's left and right like crazy. Wii's were at Target in ample supply. Lot of wii games being sold there too.Never saw anyone buying an xbox butme. one PS3 sold at BB while i was looking though piles.

I did buy the extended BB warranty for $29, I don't have a lot of faith in not seeing the RROD ;-)

There are two green Arcade boxes with the Pac-man and Uno ad "FIVE FREE GAMES" on the front.

One says "Go Play!" under "ARCADE" and has a written list of features under the "XBOX" that includes "256 MB Memory Unit"

The other box looks the same but does not say "Go Play!" and instead of a written list has a horizontal line of icons under "XBOX", one of which says "256 MB Memory".

Anyone who has gotten a Jasper Arcade, did it come in the second box with the icons on the front?

Thinking of easy ways to spot potential candidates or at least rule out boxes to check more closely.

Hey Arcade Jasper owners:

I have a question and I'm not wanting to tread through 50 pages to get the answer if it was already revealed.

On the arcade Jasper units, once the NXE update is installed, how much storage memory is left afterward? I have a friend who wants an arcade, but no hard drive yet......

I'll get you this information when I get home later today, but I suspect your arcade will have arrived by then.

I know it shipped out of Jersey. I am in NYC and my system got to me in less than 24 hours, that was fast. I also remember that it was team FDOU.

It's not even for me, I got it as a xmas present. What I'm looking for is an elite!

Maybe this could be a new way of identifying jaspers, simply take a set of scales into a store and weigh each box looking for the key 1/2 ounce difference!!

CSRX,

I now won't get my Arcade until Thursday. There was a one day weather delay
stated on the UPS website as it was traveling from Virginia to Maspeth, NY. So
I will have to wait a little bit longer.

Since you received yours from New Jersey (I mentioned earlier that many
people I know just got their Jaspers from the New Jersey distribution
center) I'm still a bit nervous about this Tennessee shipment. The reason
being that many of the first Jaspers found on this board were found in the
coastal regions first. I'm just hoping that the Tennessee distribution center
just received a recent shipment of Jaspers. If not I could see them swapping
an "XGX-00019" for one of the older Arcade "Q2A-00012" Holiday packs.

Oh, by the way check your paypal account, they just credited mine for the $30 bucks

Saw some 844x FDOU Elite 360's at the Carbondale IL BB this evening. I could not see if they were 12.1 or 14.2 though. sorry.

Ners, I know your half kidding, but the reason I want to know if the 150W is smaller and weighs less is because of where I keep my current Falcon 360.

Because the damn power cord is not long enough I had to build a little mini shelf behind my entertainment center (it's a bit cramped) to hold the 175 watt power brick. It's kind of "suspended" above my wall outlet where I plug it in so that it doesn't pull my xbox down off of top of the entertainment center. I am always worried that at some point in the future, the weight and heat put out by that "brick" will spell disaster for either my mini shelf, my entertainment center or my Xbox.

That damn power brick is too ridiculously heavy, too warm, and too clunky.....and Microsoft knowing that should have either made it thinner, lighter and cooler or given us a at least an 8ft. to 10ft. lead from the "brick" to the wall outlet so we could lay it on the floor properly. Just my 2 cents.....
