Because of the holidays, $$$ has been tough to come by. Getting the wife acceptance certificate for a $35 RC thermal sensor has been tough....but I'm working or her.

Doing the heat comparison is definitely on my short list of projects.....I've been dealing with a rebooting wireless router for about two weeks and that has my attention right now. Getting kicked off XBOX live and Guild Wars from a rebooting router sux!!!!

On a somewhat Jasper relater matter...I almost freaked out last night when my 4-year old was playing lego batman and during the game the xbox FROZE UP....no way to get out of it unless I turned the unit off. Fearing I maybe had done something wrong with my x-clamp removal or a bad GPU I took the game out...cleaned it, and tried it again. The game froze at almost the exact same place in the game!!! So I pulled out the game and popped in assasin's creed. Over an hour later and no freezes....so I'm thinking it must be the disc.

I'm always looking for more xbox live friends....my gamer tag is Daht Kahm

DON'T GIVE UP HOPE JASPER HUNTERS!! Patience and dertimination will prevail!!!

For what its worth, I was just in the Best Buy in Princeton NJ. They have a ton of Jasper Arcades. The first 5 I looked at were all Jaspers.

I STILL think the best deal in town is getting a Arcade, then buying the Live pack from Amazon. You end up w/ a Pro and a 3 month LIVE card.

One caveat, this only works if you have a spare HDMI cable, otherwise you are stuck w/ the crummy composite Arcade cable.

All 360's will have that rattle sound......

I'm curious...Why would it need to know if it was vertical or horizontal? Anyone know?

So that the controller indicator ring light corresponds to the controller light. In other words controller 1 always shows up in the upper left quadrant.

This thread motivated me to buy my first Xbox 360. I went after the Arcades not for lack of money, but for a higher probability of finding a Jasper with a 150 watt PS. My first stop at Walmart, while buying some oil, yielded only older Pro's. I hit Best Buy next and they had about four arcades 0845X's, one old unit, and a couple from the repack teams. I grabbed a 0845X from TEAM CSON that had a 12.1 on the 12V rail. It was part number XGX-00019 with the appropriate value pack bundle 2008 e. When I got it home I opened it up and found it had the 150 watt PS brick. MFR Date 11-15-2008.

I feel like a kid again.

Again with the XGX-00019 part number. Will I definitely get a Jasper if I order this unit (with part number XGX-00019) from Dell or New Egg? Help, pls!

I have seen Xboxes in Germany with this Q2A-00019 Part Number which were Falcons. I think XGX-00019 and Q2A-00019 are equal, one for the US market and the other for the European market. So in my opinion XGX-00019 couldt be a Falcon or a Jasper.

Highly probable from NewEgg as they are mainting skus for both older Arcades and XGX-00019 arcades. Dell on the other hand, might still be hit / miss. I've put both skus in their search engine and end up on the same product page.

Hi guts. Happy new year to you all etc.

The Elite hunt continues here in the UK. Not found any yet, but I have been getting 0829 60GB Pros and 834 Arcades. My local Gamestion did have an 842x Arcade which sounds promising. The best Elite number I got was 837 or 838 from Empire Direct.

Also, while looking at the 60GB models I noticed that they have a "B4J" on the part which the others are mentioning (see posts above. It almost is text speak for "Before Jasper". Maybe I am just reading what I want into it, but it caught my eye.

Please let me know via a PM on here or Live (my gamertag is also peachy001).

Happy hunting.

I don't think any product is perfect -- so there will absolutely be failures with the Jaspers. However, while some claim a 60% failure rate with Launch 360's, later manufactured Xenon and Zephyr's had lower defect rates than 60%. Falcon also has a much lower failure rate then the Xenon/Zephyr's, but Falcon is not perfect either - and I would imagine Jasper will make it even better, but we will still see someone on the Internet posting how their Jasper got the RRoD.

There is no such thing as perfect -- I think its a good idea to try to get the best 360 you can and right now that's a Jasper. If it breaks, you still have a 3-year warranty against RRoD but to expect any electronics today to be perfect is expecting a little too much. Somebody will still end up with a bad Jasper, that's a guarantee. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a video or a post about a RRoD Jasper before the end of the winter.

Still hunting for the elusive 12.1a Elite Jasper!

I've been tracking the website http://www.360drives.com/list and I've seen 2 listings for Jasper pro's from Dell.com. They had a good deal running $275 shipped for a pro so I thought I'd give it a try. I waited as long as possible on the then current promo so their stock would be the freshest and then I pulled the trigger. Scheduled to arrive Monday so I will report the results. I've discovered that if u call a few hours after ordering before it ships and try to cancel they won't but will agree to shipped it back from your home on them, so really its a win win. I am really hoping not just for a Jasper but also for a CSON model because I gathered from the forum that they have a quieter "nidec" fan in them.

Has anybody had any luck ordering online from Dell? I was holding out for an Elite Jasper but who knows how long that wait might be. I've been a voracious reader of this thread and I just can't contain my wait any longer.

New here, but have followed this thread from the other site.. Just wanted to post that this thread has been a huge help for me in my own personal Jasper hunt. I went out to day and found a 0844X Team FDOU Jasper. Did the serial window trick at Bestbuy. Was actually helped by one of the employees find a "12,1". They only had one and I snagged it, very happy to finally get one.. It has the 150 power adapter etc.. seems to run a lot cooler than my ill fated Xenon. I will still follow this thread!! THANKS JasperHunter and all the other original posters here!!

PS I live in Dallas..for other Jasperhunters out there.

You almost certainly have a falcon, only a MAJOR snafu at the factory would lead it to be otherwise. Falcons are much more reliable then older rev mobos, though right around now they have been out in full force for over a year. Time will tell, but indications thus far relate fairly decent reliability. Of course, if you're reading this board you probably want a Jasper just to feel safer w/ it. Don't blame you. Many of us (myself included) returned our Falcons for Jaspers. Check the return policy at your store. You might have a extended Christmas return period.

If not, there is nothing you can do to really 'help' it, though are things you can do to pooch it. Common sense things. But I'm sure you know that much if you've followed this thread from page 1.
