Hey guys can we post what is the latest lot # we see for Elite and Pros. I would like to get a Pro with the 150watt. I know lot 846 has the 175 still.
I just went to best buy and saw an Elite that was lot 844x but was a 14.2 That means though 845 and 846 should be coming in soon for elites, which is jasper.

So guys, if you dont mind please post the latest lot numbers you see for the Pro and Elite edition, thanks.
And also, if you have a 150watt for the arcade, please post what lot you got it from, ty again.

The newest ones I have seen in the UK are:

Pro - 842 (dont think it is a Jasper
Elite - 846x - not Jasper (I have had a look at quite a few, all 14.2A

The above were found at various Asda stores here in the UK.

As for the ones on 360drives (http://www.360drives.com/list?..._board=5&v_perpage=50), I don't think they are real. I wish they were though.

Bummer - was hoping 846x was going to be the jasper elite. Starting to waiver... must...stay...strong... resist impulse... to buy... non-elite jasper....

question though, well just curious-- why would 846x for an arcade be jasper but for an elite it isnt? why wouldnt microsoft just make all of one lot the same chipset?

I am gonna do a little speculation here, but lets assume this is one particular reason why like-for-like LOT numbers do not yield the desired Jasper internals across all models. Lets say that Microsoft has 10000 Falcon motherboards (just silly figures, I know) ready for implementation in all consoles. They are interchangeable and if one line had worked through their allocation (lets say MS normally allow 500 for the Arcade production lines, 3000 for the Pro, 2000 for the Elite) then they can borrow from another. All is going well and the various production lines steadily work through their allocation. Everything is running fine and you will find that all lines are the same. Then MS decides to work on the NXE. The development of this progresses well but some bright spark at MS realises that those without a HDD might struggle to get all the benefits of the all singing all dancing frontend software, especially as they keep adding more great features to it throughout development. Hey presto, they decide to include the 256MB on the SKUs that don't come with a HDD. This means that the motherboards are no longer interchangeable. Any spare Arcade Falcon motherboards can't just be thrown in the bin, so they would probably take them straight over to the Pro and Elite production lines. This means that both the Pro and Elite may have been "gifted" a boat load of Falcon boards. Which takes their amounts up Therefore, the Arcade was the first to get the Jasper as it had to have a whole fresh motherboard. It is also the biggest seller and so would get through any remaining Falcon motherboard inventory much quicker. OR, MS thinks that it might be safer to throw the first experimental Jasper boards into their lowest price SKU. If there is a major flaw and 1000 fail after a month then they may prefer this to be in the Arcades. As far as balance sheets go 1000 products worth £129 each fail then it looks better than 1000 products worth £229 each. Look at it from the stores' perspective. Although they obviously get the refund from MS, all this takes time and no store wants a hole in their monthly figures while waiting for MS to honour the refund. With this in mind each console version would have a different impact with the Arcade been the lowest and the Elite creating a rather larger hole. And the more people pay for their electronic purchase the more reliability they expect and be less inclined to accept a swap. I suspect that those paying £229 for an Elite may think "sod this, I'll just get a PS3 or a Wii", where as the ones returning a £129 Arcade may not want to spend the extra and might accept a straight swap as the cash they shelled out wouldn't buy them either a Wii or PS3.

Please excuse any rambling in the above opinion, I was trying to feed my son his milk between breaks in typing.

That seems totally plausible, along with many other scenerios! Really no one knows, except Micosoft employees.. I just wish they'd share lol! Either way to keep it on topic, I'll be going either today or tomorrow to check out some stores in Canada, as there old stock seems to have been dropping down quite a bit and I think they're finally gonna start ordering from Microsoft again!

Really? I hate those Delta fans. It makes my Jasper louder then my Falcon that has Nidec fans in it.

1. I think it's actually louder than my Falcon. The fans have a hum/vibration to them that is far more noticeable.
2. I'm a little surprised at how little power we saved with the 65nm die shrink. I figured it would be more like the transition from Zephyr to Falcon, but in that case I guess the CPU went from 90nm to 65nm and the GPU from 90nm to 80nm. This time we only got GPU from 80 to 65nm.
3. If indeed MS has not addressed the solder bump issue with Jasper, I wonder if the relatively small power savings (and thus heat production) will really make a significant difference in reliability. That is, of course, only a concern IF heat was the root cause previously, which I'm still not convinced of.
4. The white DVD drive of my arcade still looks weird to me, but I'll get over it

As far as the fan noise is concerned that was my biggest complaint. The delta fans on my jasper are much louder than the fairly quiet delta fans on my older zephyr. (Of course this is a ymmv deal with these fans as everyone knows.) However I have gotten the nidec fans and the noise difference is night and day. These fans are whisper quiet. They are so quiet in fact that I do not need to adjust the tv volume (louder) any more while playing a game installed on the hard drive.
Now my only complaint with jasper has nothing to do with jasper. I cannot play any downloaded game content (new maps, etc) that was downloaded to the hard drive while it was installed on my previous zephyr. I have to re-download every time I want to play them. But this is a topic for a different thread...

Im having the same issue. Where did you get the Nidec fans at? Also how did you do it without breaking the warranty seal?

You can sort out the issue of the DRM that prevents you from playing previously downloaded items without downloading them again. All you do is go to the microsoft website and you need to download the licenses again. YOU CAN ONLY DO THIS ONCE PER YEAR. But it does fix the issue. Hope that helps.

Hmm If this pans out I will wait, I love the colour red! Also an update for anyone in Vancouver area of Canada, I believe I found atleast 1 Jasper at Toys r us!
It is a Pro 843x, the cow behind the desk wouldn't let me even hold the box as it was zapstrapped down to the shelf and unless i was buying it wouldn't let me hold it to exam for a 12.1V It was team CSON This was at the Surrey, Toys R Us in Whalley just chilling on the top shelf by the video game counter 2nd from the end, I won;t buy 1 now unless it's 100% Jasper, so yeah I told her to shove it! Atleast BB is getting close with 840x's...

ok first, thanks answering my question, and that sounds like a good reason for the different lot #'s.
second, i check my BB every wed because they get shipments every wed and sat and re-stack same day. You guys should ask your store what day they get shipments in and when they put them out on the racks for sale so you only have to go in that day.
finally, i dont know anything about the fan situation. what fans are the good ones? what fans are the ones on the new jasper? how do u replace the fan with a good fan? how do i know which fan is on my console?
thanks

Not sure, but that's the only thing bothering me with mine. Still much quieter than my neighbors' Falcons.

I got a Jasper manufacture mid-November from the recent Dell Arcade Holiday bundle deal for $158 + tax + free ship.

0846X lot Team FDOU, 12.1A

Same deal and date i got. Does your fans have the white stickers on them? (Deltas) I have to say the fans make my Jasper sound louder then my falcon as it uses nidec fans.

Hmm, after reading some forum threads (particularly at AVS) it seems that the quality of all the three fan brands is a crapshoot. Some people claim better results with Delta, some with Nidec. My X360 IS the loudest thing in my room but I'm not bothered enough by it to replace the fans.

Do any of you know of any instances of Jasper failure? I've seen a video of an alleged Jasper getting the RRoD, but outside of that and an anecdote that wasn't elaborated upon, I haven't heard anything.

Ive had other Xbox 360's with deltas and they are louder then the Nidec fans i have in my Falcon. I think im going to replace the fans with nidecs. anyone know how hard it is to replace them?

This is my first 360.I have the Delta fans on my Jasper and it does seem kind of loud. But I dont fancy cracking it open just yet just to change the fans.I have bought a few fault 360 from ebay and tried the X-clamp but without success but the fan replacement would be a peace of bun.

So the fan replacement should be easy?

As kpatm stated I also purchased the nidec fans from ebay - just did an ebay search for nidec fans to find a seller. Removing the seal was easy enough. Just use a hair dryer and carefully peel the sticker off. If done correctly it will not be damaged and will stick when applying back onto the console after reassembly. If you've never opened a 360 before, the easiest way to do so is to get a dedicated tool kit (which are not expensive) and follow any of the online video's showing how to open it up. (fwiw I got my kit from llama.com where there are also video's showing the procedure)
