Just to inform everyone the bestbuy in Secaucus, NJ has the RE5 elite and they are jaspers(I broke down and bought it yesterday). Just one little problem, the case that RE5 came in is busted like someone ran it over w/ a car, but so far the 360 is running (knock on wood).

bestbuy in holmdel NJ has RE5 bundles and they appear to be jasper also.

I got one and its great.

is there sightings of black elites in the wild that are jaspers yet? Or is it just the RE5 red edition elites?

I was just sitting and playing my RE5 elite Jasper and noticed a very annoying buzzing sound, so I got up from my couch and held me ear toward the xbox 360, standing on the right side of my tv. But then i realized the sound came from the left so I thought it was the TV, so i turned the TV off to see if the sound was still there, and it was. finally I discovered that it was the 150W powerbrick that generated this annoying sound. So I went down to the cellar to get my old 200W or 203W or whatever it is and was going to connect it to my Jasper console. So I started to take the 150W brick away but as I lifted it up, it suddenly got quiet. I shook it a bit and it was going back and forth making the noise, but got quiet in the end. So now I'm happy. Has this happened to anyone else? and how can it make this sound? Does it have fans inside?

I don't think it has any fans. If I had to guess I would say it was buzzing coils.

also it seems like Microsoft is trying to fool us all with their 3 year RRoD warranty by changing the three red lights to a new E74 error.

read more here:

The transformer coils is what he was referring to. Transformers will vibrate at twice the frequency of the supply voltage, or a harmonic of this frequency.

The E74 error is not new, so I don't think Microsoft is "trying to fool" anybody. There do seem to be more reports of this error occurring now though.

OK thanks for the info. I have one more question though. Is it dangerous that they seem to be kind of a bit loose inside there? will they catch on fire or something?

And the E74 report seems to have a connection to the NXE launch. I think Microsoft sneaked some codes into our consoles along with NXE

Check the power rating on the back of your Xbox 360.. if it is 12.1 amps it is Jasper for sure.. 14.2 amps is probably Falcon..

Good Luck..

Reporting from SoCal...

Still no black Elite Jasper in my area.

The 3 Best Buys stores closest to my home still have not receive new Elites (black) stock; they're down to 1 black Elite each (Lot # 844 or old repackage from March 2008).

On top of that, the Red Elite is out of stock in those store; actually, bestbuy.com indicates that non of the 5 stores (expanding the area) around have the Red Elite.

From here it seems that the rumor of Microsoft discontinuing the black Elite are true.

I tried to buy the red one a couple of days ago (there was still one in stock) and I just couldn't do it... don't like the color.

At this point it looks like I'll have to settle for an Arcade to get Jasper & HDMI and just keep my 20Gb hard drive for the mean time. (so I don't have to spend $400 in one shot).

Enjoy.

The red Elites may be out of stock in stores, but I bet you can still get on by going online. I know that some stores here in the UK have sold out but their website says "in stock". they will only have sent out a small allocation to each store and retained much of the stock for online purchases.

The black Jaspers are out there, I'm sure of that, as can be seen on the Xbox drive database. I have heard a fair few rumours about them not continuing to produce the black Elites so I just hope I bag one before they stop. Either that or I will have to buy a red one if they are still available.

Nice! This may be the first "real" confirmation of a black Elite Jasper!

Wow, this thread is really slowing down. I hope that's because of people successfully finding jaspers. I know I've purchased two with the assistance of this thread. Thank you jasper hunters everywhere.

It certainly has slowed down, I used to check this forum daily and would have to read through a ton of comments. Most of the hunters have got their Jaspers so the only ones left are the ones searching for Elite or even some Pro Jaspers.

Just been into town here in UK and HMV had a load of 846X Elites, Asda also had some the other day when I looked. I am thinking that the we could see Jasper from 847 onwards (fingers crossed) so we could be real close.

I'm still waiting to find a black Elite Jasper in the Silicon Valley area. I usually stop by the local Fry's once a week at lunch time - still only Jasper Arcades. The waiting continues.

Same here... still hoping a black Jasper Elite will show up.

I visited the Best Buy store buy my office and one of the guys there told me that they should be receiving a shipment in a week or two.

*sigh*

I'm so annoyed that I can't find an Elite Jasper that I don't even have the heart to post an April Fool's about finding one in a local Best Buy...

Search continues for Elite Jasper in NC. Nothing over 844. I am getting tired of the 840's. How many freakin 360's were produced at that time? No RE Elites either.
