Great, I'll keep an eye on that one. I don't really have any knowledge of the comics, but it looks interesting, and they're a very talented developer.

I wish they'd hurry up and get more party style games on Live Arcade. If they could come up with a Smash Bros. style of game they would make a freaking killing.

There's a game called Small Arms. Kind of like Smash Bros. but primarily focuses on weapons and ranged attacks. Looks like good chaotic fun.

The Xbox360 is definitely missing the fun single-console multiplayer party games like PowerStone, Fuzion Frenzy, and Baldur's Gate.

I'd also like to see some board games and trivia games on there too. Say something like Monopoly, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit or You Don't Know Jack.

Sounds like Chromehounds will have a demo just before it releases as well.

I would not recommend TXB forums. The IQ level there is very very low. Their reviews and other articles are pretty good though. I just stick with multi game system forums. It keeps a lot of the fanboys out.

It's ridiculous you have to worry about a product that was built in March of 2006. That's why I don't buy products that don't offer at least a 1-year warranty - period.

I'm still debating on an XBOX 360, waiting for PS3,or waiting for the new Nintendo (which will be dirt cheat compared the other two.) Time to do some research to see what is best.

It kind of sucks because I want to play Burnout right now and I can't. Too bad Microsoft wouldn't give me something I don't already have as a nice gesture.

Grrrrr
3D Realms president George Broussard has just confirmed that the Prey demo won't be available for download tonight. Here is the official word, straight from the horse's mouth:

We do not want 360 people waiting up for the demo or having false expectations. The 360 demo will not appear on Marketplace tonight.

I'm still waiting for specifcs, but I'm being told that it's still in testing at Microsoft. From what I understand this isn't Microsoft's fault, and is more likely just an issue of timing.

I'm hesitant to give any estimates for a release, but I've been told it should be reasonably soon after the PC release, but could be as long as a few days.

We will post an update as soon as we have more solid information.

XBLA Frogger w/Co-op - Pics, Achievements, and Impressions

June 21, 2006 - Nestled within the various Marketplace menus on our Xbox 360 test unit's PartnerNet, we discovered an old-school quarter-devouring distraction. It was Frogger, the staple of greasy pizza shops and sweaty sports arenas everywhere. Its concept is simple. Taking control of a pixilated frog, he's guided across a heavily trafficked road and a river to safety in the bushes on the other side. The adventure isn't without obstacles. Sports cars and semi trucks threaten to squish Frogger into quivering bits. Once across the road, the river can only be navigated across by hopping across a series of moving logs and turtles. Like many of its early arcade predecessors, timing is key for getting high scores, and despite its simple appearance and design the game requires plenty of practice to be successful.

On the Xbox 360, the game remains largely unchanged. Players still move from bottom to top, across the road first, then the river. Power-ups like bonus frogs and bugs will occasionally appear on the roving logs and grassy finish line, which grant extra points when nabbed. Each stage of Frogger requires you to get five frogs, controlled one at a time, across the road and river to occupy five slots on the other side. You can't land in the same end slot more than once, so you'll need to hop back and forth between logs and turtles to get to each one. As you fill the five slots and advance stages, logs and traffic move faster and new obstacles pop up like alligators, snakes, and otters in the water. Special attention also needs to be paid to the turtles, groups of which occasionally dip into the water causing death if you're still riding. In addition to avoiding merciless automobiles, the clock comes into play as well. Take too long and explosive death descends upon you. Time for leaping can be extended by landing a frog in one of the open slots at the screen's top.

The mystery of how a frog can die in water remains unsolved.

For new content, the Xbox 360 version offers enhanced and original visuals, online play, leaderboards, and achievements. Applying the new graphical paint doesn't change anything about the screen size or aspect ratios of the original, merely the appearance. Instead of flat, generally featureless pixels floating across the screen, the new graphics pump in a lot more detail. Puffs of smoke stream from the bulldozers on the road, the logs have a more rounded look with veins of bark apparent and ripples of water in their wake, and apparently the public works department in Frogger is on vacation, since the road is in a serious state of disrepair. Switching up the graphics, which is accomplished through the in-game menu, also switches up the sounds. The new graphics are accompanied by more melodic, pleasant sounds, though hardcore Froggerites might be more inclined to the aural harshness of the original.

In HD Frogger's playable size looks extremely small. Nearly two-thirds of the screen is being taking up by some sort of cosmic background, but after a while it can be overlooked. If you think the original arcade aspect ratio is still too small, there's an option to stretch out the screen, though doings so greatly distorts images onscreen. Other game options include being able to adjust the number of lives you start with, though if changed whatever score you achieve won't be eligible for posting on the leaderboards. Like Joust, XBLA Frogger supports online play with Versus, Versus Speed, or Co-operative games. For fans craving a classic Frogger experience on their sleek Xbox 360, this definitely seems like a complete, faithful package. Look for more as it's scheduled to release later this summer. On our test unit's PartnerNet, which is entirely separate from the retail Marketplace, Frogger cost 400 Microsoft Points to download. Below you'll find the achievements, as well as media straight from the car-dodging classic.

Well Ordered - 15 G - On any level fill 5 frog slots from right to left.
Complete Level 2 - 15 G - Beat the second level.
Complete Level 3 - 15 G - Same deal, third level.
Complete Level 4 - 20 G - Do what the title says.
Complete Level 5 - 20 G - Take a wild guess.

Helping Hand - 20 G - Save 5 lady frogs in one game.
Full Stomach - 10 G - Eat 3 bugs in one game.
Chicken 1 - 10 G - On level 1 stay on the road until the timer is red, then reach home.
Chicken 2 - 15 G - On level 2 stay on the road until the timer is red, then reach home.
Home Sweet Home - 20 G - Deliver 15 frogs to the frog home without dying once.
Co-op Brilliance - 20 G - Reach a score of 30,000 or more while playing an Xbox Live co-op game.

This fall, we shall see.

My sarcastic reply - about the same time as Duke Nuke'em Forever.

My non-sarcastic reply - It's been in testing for what seems like forever. I'm wondering if they'll ever solve the lag problems.

My best guess would be by the end of July possibly early August. Not that great of a guess, but we're all pretty much in the dark on this one.

Yep...wife definitely addicted to Uno now. She just called me to see if I had left work yet and she's apparently been playing Uno quite a bit today.

Well I am glad he is not like one of the jackasses at MS who say something is going to come out and everyone waits, time passes and it never comes out. At least this guy warns up. MS has never warned us about a delay and I may be wrong but everything they have ever set a date for releasing on XBL has always been late without a word about it.

For example, where the hell is Texas Hold Em? Both were supposed to come out months ago. You'd think this was the president always being off the scheduled time for security purposes. MS really wins my award for incompetence in a few categories.

if sf2 has any lag when it is released, i think everyone is going to be so hugely disappointed. they have delayed the game for over 3 months now to fix the lag issues, so it better be nothing but perfect.
