Fall Update coming next week or so?

Looks like the "24 hours" of scheduled maintenance took a bit longer than everyone thought. You may have had problems logging in to Xbox Live, or seeing certain Marketplace content, or viewing detailed profile info. I tried to get online last night to download Lumines Live at home, and had to grab it this morning.

Let me be among the first to apologize for the delay. And to thank you for being patient. For many of us, it's easier to be without food and water than to be without Xbox Live.

The servers and software were upgraded to prepare for updates that will go live later this month. You shouldn't see any noticeable changes right now. We're preparing details about the updates going into Xbox.com and Xbox Live, that we'll share with you next week.

Major Nelson tells us he hopes to get more information from the team that runs the operation center. Stay tuned for that if you're interested.

Sweet. I wasn't expecting this until the first week or two of November.

Well you just need something to save your game status to.

Anyone else a "little" disappointed in Splinter Cell? I admit, I've been playing the hell out of it. It's been the best one so far in my opinion (well best of the sequels), but there's nothing revolutionary to it. It's just like SC2 & 3 - a map pack add-on almost, just better graphics. Nothing fundamental has changed. They added a nice back story and the multiple endings are nice, but it's the exact same game, 2 years since the last one. They didn't even give the option of changing from 1st to 3rd player mode, ala GRAW, or switching from L-->R in holding your gun, ala GRAW, etc.

Hmm. I don't see it mentioned on MS's site, but I'll check when I get home. That would be a nice suprise to start off the weekend. I loved playing UMK3 on my Genesis back in the day.

Yep, it was a mistake on Microsoft's part. They took it down around 30 minutes to an hour after it was put up from what I can see.

I'm right there with you. I do like the game, but it feels like it's missing something. I don't know what it is....but it's definitely missing. But the multiplayer more than makes up for it.

By the way, you can switch L-->R while holding your gun. Click the left thumb stick.

I finally got my XBox 360 back... took more than 4 weeks since the day I first called them. Now I just need to figure out if there any good games I would be interested in.

Tony Hawk demo is up. It's pretty cool. I didn't get to play much yet, but so far I like the slow-down time trick thing. There's two versions, one just slows down the time and you use the buttons to do tricks, like usual. The other one slows down time a lot slower and you do the tricks with the joysticks, the left stick is left foot, right stick is right foot. That's pretty fun so far.

I wonder how it'll work on live though? When you slow down time, will you just fly by someone else in slow-motion?

I didn't bother reading the instruction manual. Thanks I coulda sworn that option was in SC3 or something. Glad someone else feels the same way.

It was an "accident" late last week, but I downloaded it over the weekend. It was pulled after it was put up the first time. I believe it should be out for real now since quite a few people on my friends list have it.

Can't get into a multiplayer game. Only tried for about 15 minutes but every time I got an error that "The host has quit the session" or whatever. Pisses me off.

The Solo mode is pretty fun, I am not very good at these stealth types of game yet, though. This is pretty much the first splinter cell that I have played. Hopefully I will get better with practice. I just got TDU, Splinter Cell, Godfather, and Just cause is on the way. these should keep me busy until Gears of War/Rainbow Six

Halo 3 Demo coming in November??

We?re titling this as a rumor, but even so, sources have revealed to Game Informer Online that there will be a Halo 3 demo released over Xbox Live in the first half of 2007. Obviously Microsoft hasn?t revealed any details yet, but we wouldn?t be too surprised if something was dropped in the second or third week of November. You know, just to mess a bit with the PlayStation 3 and Wii launches.

We contacted Microsoft to confirm this rumor, but they responded with the usual statement that Microsoft doesn?t comment about speculation or rumors.

Is it shocking that Microsoft would release a Halo 3 demo? Not so much. Is it surprising that they?d announce the first details to mess with Sony and Nintendo? Not at all.

The big question is, will the Halo 3 demo be the first demo that Microsoft will charge for? We?re also putting our money on that, too. If there?s one game that Xbox 360 owners are waiting for it?s Halo 3, and regardless of how much or how little the demo consists of, Microsoft could charge and no one would really care.

I think a lot of people would care, myself included. It's a DEMO, ya know, to let you get an idea of what the full game would be like.
Only problem is that with MS points, it doesn't always "seem" like you are spending cash because instead of "$5" it's listed as like 800 MS points. (I forget at the moment how much $1 equals in MS points)
