Halo 3 Demo coming in November??
We?re titling this as a rumor, but even so, sources have revealed to Game Informer Online that there will be a Halo 3 demo released over Xbox Live in the first half of 2007. Obviously Microsoft hasn?t revealed any details yet, but we wouldn?t be too surprised if something was dropped in the second or third week of November. You know, just to mess a bit with the PlayStation 3 and Wii launches.

We contacted Microsoft to confirm this rumor, but they responded with the usual statement that Microsoft doesn?t comment about speculation or rumors.

Is it shocking that Microsoft would release a Halo 3 demo? Not so much. Is it surprising that they?d announce the first details to mess with Sony and Nintendo? Not at all.

The big question is, will the Halo 3 demo be the first demo that Microsoft will charge for? We?re also putting our money on that, too. If there?s one game that Xbox 360 owners are waiting for it?s Halo 3, and regardless of how much or how little the demo consists of, Microsoft could charge and no one would really care.

I think a lot of people would care, myself included. It's a DEMO, ya know, to let you get an idea of what the full game would be like.
Only problem is that with MS points, it doesn't always "seem" like you are spending cash because instead of "$5" it's listed as like 800 MS points. (I forget at the moment how much $1 equals in MS points)

Yeah, seriously. I wouldn't put my money on people being willing to pay for the demo...I think it's a good way to shoot one's self in the foot by pissing off their consumer base.

There is no way I'm paying for a demo. I'll pay for a game...not a demo.

I also don't the idea of paying for 80% of a game and then getting raped on the ass-end with little micro-transactions for the full experience. That being said, I happily paid for the extra maps/guns for GRAW....so maybe I'm just being hypocritical.

Does anyone think it's going to be hard to get a copy of gears of war?

I don't have one reserved, I usually just stop in on release day or the day after and pick up a copy of games.

What do you guys think?

I dunno. I've never had a problem just picking up a game from the stores either....but I usually don't keep track of release dates or anything like that. If anything I usually wait until there's some on the pre-played shelf, or a good deal or something. GoW I might make an exception for though.

Well if I can't get GoW on release, I should be able to at least get R6: Vegas which I have been waiting for

Splinter Cell was kind've weak overall. It was very short, and the choices you made in the game really didn't change the plot as much as they said it would. Pandora Tomorrow is still my favorite out of the series.

Kind of disappointing, I was hoping for something really spectacular

Now, some of the "improved user experience" and other slight enhancements to the dashboard are fine, and needed. But I don't really use my 360 for video/dvds all that much.

I might use it once in a while to stream a video, but not that often.

A web browser would have been awesome, as well as mouse support while in the dashboard

There is a little bit more of a description of some of the additions at this link:
Link
It's also got some images of the updated dashboard.

I don't understand why some of you want a web browser. If the 360 was a portable device then I would want one too but it sit in your home and I'm pretty sure you already have a computer with a web browser to be posting here. Its nothing more than a feature would be used to counter a sony bullet point.

As for the update, didn't they say we'll get dvd upconversion too?

Yep. I could really care less about a browser as well. I did that when I had my PC setup as a HTPC and hooked up to my TV and it just isn't all that it is cracked up to be. Keep it on your PC.

We already get DVD upconversion as part of the Spring Update. The fall update pushes that upconversion to 1080p. BUT, you have to have your 360 hooked up with the VGA cables.

I really don't know why I want a browser. I know I would never use it...unless I got really bored. I guess it would just be a cool thing to bring up when my friends are over. But not really even that cool. Meh, just give it to me MS.

Why does Amazon.com have a release date for Rainbow Six: Vegas as December 5?

teamxbox.com says November 14, and IGN says November 7.

It is supposed to be November 7, right?

I don't understand how every website has different dates on game releases all the time.

wow. I just played the R6: Vegas demo and I'm looking forward to that game more than I was before. It looks really really good.

I can't wait to play coop and terrorist hunt over xbox live, loved that in the previous games.

Between that and Gears of war it really is going to be a busy week next week.

Luckily I have the monday off that they are having emergence day (or whatever it's called)
