man i cannot believe how good GoW is. This game is fvcking amazing. I'm still on Act 2, playing it on hardcore, and it's like the perfect mix of challenge and fun. The firefights are just so fvcking awesome in this game.

Online is even better!

after reading the halo 3 article in the latest EGM, it looks like that game is pretty unimpressive. The graphics are just a step up from halo 2, and the "featuers" of the game are far from impressive IMO. even last year, at the 360 launch, GoW looked incredible. I saw it on display and saw Cliffy B play it at Zero Hour, and it's graphics were so fvcking amazing a year before it was even ready.

Man, there are now 2 retailers offerring the Xbox 360 premium for $300.

I bet MS is going to drop the regular price of the xbox360 on friday when the PS3 comes out.

Regarding the debate on the hdmi cable: Charter semi (which fabs some of the 360 chips) will be offering 65nm chips soon and I'm sure ms will be a customer for that since a die shrink will greatly reduce the cost of the 360. Since the 360 will have to undergo a lot of modifications at that point, that would be the most likely time to add a new feature like hdmi in my opinion.

Yeah man, if you think hardcore is fun, finish the game on Insane. It's unbelievably fun. Especially when you have ambient wretches coming from every direction, armed with a shotgun Insane isn't TOO hard, but it's a lot of fun.

Been playing online with the Epic Dev team tonight and have had a bunch of really really good games.

We've had drawings during company meetings twice a year here at work for the last 3 years and even when the odds are 50/50 I still end up with nothing. :laugh:

Wishful thinking but there are always rumors floating around that they're working on it or going to be releasing a console with an HDMI port. I'm not sure anybody knows for sure at this point.

i BELIEVE but i'm not 100% that ebgames.com had a link to an HDMI cable for the 360 up for a little while, but when it got public, they took it offline. i think I saw Queasy say somethin about this before.

Yep EB and Gamestop had one. I think it was $99.99 too, wasn't it?

'Tis true. Gamestop had something called the Gamestop Premium Xbox360 HDMI Cable. It was up only for about a week and was pretty expensive ($80 or $90, I can't remember now). Gamestop has other "Premium" cables for the 360 that are more expensive than the MS branded cables so I'm thinking this HDMI cable that Gamestop had listed was much more expensive than MS branded cables would be as well. Had a release date of the first of December.

Still, I don't know why MS wouldn't want this information out now. Especially since the HD DVD drive is out now.

yep, it would be stupid to drop the price right now. There are also a lot of good games being released for the 360 in the coming months.

GoW single player is better than Halo's - I'm totally digging it, especially co-op. The roomie and I played that last night and just tore it up. We're about to start on Insane co-op - should be fun (and frustrating). The multi leaves a lot to be desired - not a lot of options, just 4v4. Most of the time it ends up being a rush to the sniper. That and the guns in the game are lacking IMO...it's like the main rifles are like trying to shoot ppl with SMG's. I guess I'm not impressed. That and the massive amounts of connection/host issues. I've gotten that error message 99% of the times I've tried doing a multiplayer game the past two days. Enough to make me give up until they can get their sh!t fixed.

Halo is the bread and butter - I'm not gonna reserve judgement on it until I actually play it. I didn't think H2 was all that revolutionary in terms of single player, but multi was awesome IMO. As long as we don't play as that stupid alien again like in H2 I'll be happy.

I actually stopped playing the single-player. I'm waiting until my HDTV gets fixed before I continue any further. That should be this Wednesday hopefully.

Even with just 4v4, the maps are so tight that it is fun and frenetic. The only game mode I really don't care for is Assassination as it leads to camping. They are going to have to release additional maps/gameplay modes though. It is fantastic right now but 6 months from now?

The connection issues suck but I wonder how often it is a result of rooms filling up quickly. I find myself just clicking "Join a Quick Match" more often than not and clicking on the first thing that comes up. I get in more often than not that way. Hosting is another option to avoid the connection issues.

IMHO...GoW = best game on 360 as of right now.

The single player in GoW makes the entire Halo series look boring. (Halo 1 and 2.. not 3!)
I just got done defeating Beserker... man shes scarey, lol!
I met up with Baird and I'm working my way through that part. Such a good fun game.
The multiplayer is very fun as well, I've already played about 5-7 hours of multiplayer and its still really fun.

10/10 IN MY BOOK.

Anyone else having problems with gameznflix lately? They hadn't shipped out Gears of War to me in the past week, so I ended up cancelling to try Gamefly again.

I wish the single player would be longer. I've beat it on insane, and it really didn't take that long at all. But it was a lot of fun

There were a lot of good games last night with the Epic Dev team, didn't run into one single whiney kid or just regular a-holes. I constantly got invites from one of the epic guys and never had to worry about connection issues.

However, that is over and we are back to reality and these connection issues need to be fixed. I can get into a game rather quickly, but that is after 2-3 tries.

But the multi play is awesome, except for the grenade tagging ninjas

I have Gamefly and gameznflix right now.

Gamefly had GoW as available "now" the day it was released. I bought the game and didn't need to rent it, but I'm sure I could have gotten it.

gameznflix this past week took me maybe 8-9 days to get a new game, when it used to take around 4.

I haven't sent this game back yet, but we'll see what happens.

played maybe to act 2 on casual, then switched to hardcore. Beat it on hardcore, then went back for insane.

Insane difficulty isn't TOO hard, it just requires constant cover and more patience, because the enemies can take a lot more hits. They also have very good accuracy. The lambent wretches on insane can be a pain also, but if you have a shotgun they are a lot of fun

I thought the final boss was WAY too easy on insane. I died maybe 4-5 times while fighting the final boss on hardcore, only died once on insane since I had figured out his weakness previously.

If you ever want to coop just let me know, I have replayed it all the way through maybe 3-4 times already and still love it.

You have to beat the game in Hardcore or Casual first before Insane is playable.

Go to search for a custom match, and let it say searching or refreshing. Then, hit X 2-3 times. The list should pop up. If not, press X again. Select a game that is missing 2-3 people and hit A. I tried this all today and it worked everytime.

Patch coming for GoW

Ray Davis, Gears of War's Lead Programmer, announced over the weekend that Epic Games is already working on a patch to fix the connection issues Gearheads are experiencing when playing multiplayer. Under his fufu alias, Davis said:

yes, a patch is in the works to address the connection issues as well as several other bugs that have been reported. not sure on an exact eta, but it won't be long...

Call of Duty 3 has been awesome. There hasn't been anything revolutionary about the gameplay, but the sound effects and graphics, along with what you've come to expect from COD, has been terrific. Definitely worth checking out
