I can see myself renting a movie for $4 or $6 if I don't feel like going to Blockbuster. I get lazy to leave my house sometimes

I don't think I'd pay money for a TV show though since there are other means *cough BT cough* of obtaining them.

I DVR all of my TV shows anyways, which isn't many. Heroes, CSI, LOST, jericho, 24

I don't care about the time limit on rentals, i usually watch them right away anyways, I cna't see how this is any different. the price isn't TOO bad, but I don't rent movies THAT often, either.

So how does the quality of these movies compare to DVD? better? worse?

Well, I rented Gears of War to give it a try before I get rid of my 360. To be honest I'm not impressed all around. The graphics are good, but they don't blow me away like it has other people. I didn't get to turn up the sound on my speakers but I did put on my headphones and it does sound very good (and a good sub would be great). The gameplay is ok, I like it, but at the same time sometimes it feels a little clunky to me.

I admit that I haven't played terribly far into the game yet, so I'll reserve final judgement until I've beaten it. I'm not very good yet and need to probably go back and do the walkthrough. I just jumped into it on the harder of the two initial difficulties. My aim sucks right now.

Also, chances are co-op will greatly change my opinion as for me personally co-op makes any game much better.

Also, am I just being stupid, or do you have to hold down B while pushing the attack button to get the chainsaw to work? I keep getting killed because I'll rush an enemy and it just won't work right and he'll beat me down.

Not sure yet. I'll probably rent a 720P movie over the Thanksgiving weekend to check it out. I also have the HD-DVD drive so I'll be able to compare to two pictures, though I'd imagine they'd be pretty damn similar in terms of quality. I'll post a mini-review once I check it out.

Co-op makes it uber fun.

And chainsaw - if you get shot/hit the chainsaw "turns off". It frustrated me at the beginning but it makes you realize you cant just rush an enemy with the chainsaw on...gotta sneak up on them and gut em.

That happens to me alot too. The instructions say just holding down the B button should be enough. Honestly though, you are better off using the shotgun at close range...faster kill.

The prices are cheaper than what Verizon wants for FIOS PPV/on-Demand...not to mention they are in high def as opposed to normal.

Go check out the Small Arms XBLA game. It's pretty awesome for a few bucks, with great graphics!

I felt the same way when I first played. I didn't start to really have fun until I played some online games. For some reason after I played online for an hour even the single player game seemed way better. Probably because you have to adjust to the controls a lot quicker online.

Lost Planet MultiPlayer Demo is out tomorrow, that's not new news. But check this out:

In a special offer, gamers will get a code for access to two exclusive levels for the upcoming multiplayer demo if they pre-order Lost Planet the day after Thanksgiving. The powers-that-be at Capcom have given us early access to these servers so that we may entice you into pre-ordering this bad-boy on Friday. The demo will actually be available tomorrow, so you won?t have to wait around to check out the multiplayer action after you lock in a pre-order.

So do I have to pre-order and get this code just to play the demo, or just to unlock those two extra levels?

Question: I was planning on purchasing an Xbox 360 in the next month, should I get the extended warranty?

90 days seems REALLY stingy, and I've seen many reports of Xbox's randomly dying, or eating discs.

Depends on where you but it from. If you buy it from Costco, no. Costco will replace it at anytime for almost any reason.

Any other store that doesn't have that deal, yes.

Best bet is to find a hot deal. Example: The MS extended warranty is only for an extra year but Overstock.com offers a two-year extended warranty for $35.

Yes, get the extended warranty from the store you purchased it from. That way, if something goes wrong, you can just take it in and get it replaced instead of having to deal with Microsoft's stupid repair center and shipping.

You can also buy an extended warranty from Microsoft themselves. It's something like $30 for a year or $55 for two years, can't really remember. I'm close, though .

Just bought the HD-DVD using the $40 off Circuity City coupon. No hassles at all. I can't hook it up until Friday or Saturday (out of town) but I'm guessing that the limited editions will become scarce after Thanksgiving. Get it now if you want it.

BTW, does anyone know of a good place to purchase HD-DVD content? (best prices/holiday deals/etc.)

omfg. I don't know if this belongs in another thread about hd or not but all I can say about HD-DVD is WOW. It's like going from VHS to DVD all over again. Now I just need to figure out what nearby retail shop is still open that might carry HD-DVD titles. Wal-Mart? Probably not. But I'm going to try!

Small Arms is cool too.

Check out Blockbuster Online. They're offering HD DVD rentals now.

Well I finally jumped on the 360 bandwagen yesterday. I picked up GoW of course. It's pretty damn awesome. Only problem I'm having is getting the pc and xbox to network. I can ping the 360, but can't find it. Anyone have any sure fire tips? I've spent hours coming the offical forums today to no avail.
