can xbox 360 play QT, RMVB, DIVX, XVID, etc from my media center PC out of the box like how I do it now with the Modded XBOX w XBMC?

You know what its not a common thing for people to know about revisions and the only reason I do is because I have 2 ps2's that don't work because they can't read the disc anyone.

If you don't think people paying 1600 for a XBOX is stupid than we definetly disagree because it is absolutely stupid, I don't care if they have money to burn, its my opinion so pipe down. Next time I pay a 400% markup on something I deserve to get burned.

Yes, paying $1600 for a $400 XBOX is stupid, but your post was heavily referencing all XBOX360's, not just defective, overpriced machines on eBay.

well I didn't mean it that way, "imagine paying 1600....." having been burned by sony twice I do feel for the guys who waited in line to get it but I laugh at the people paying huge mark ups. Call me a hypocrite I don't care.

Well in that case, I apologize. But just remember that paying $1600 for a system on eBay is stupid, not the fact that people are buying first-revision units. I posted another hate-inspired post over in the Hardforums because of some moronic ass giving everybody hell for buying it and then having problems.

Yes it is. In my furied excitment I didn't notice. I was all...ya know...like...WTF!!!

The digital audio output (TOSlink) is right on the plastic part that actually plugs into the xbox.

Thanks again...otherwise I would have to do the RTFM. And that just wouldn't be right.

EVERYONE should know first runs of ANYTHING should be bought with the knowledge there WILL be problems. Thats common knowledge. People are leary of first run cars because of problems, electronics are no exception. THis is imple 5th grade stuff here.

So yes, I think its funny as all hell people got burned. Not necesarily because there was a product failure, but because people payed exhorbant amounts of money and waited in lines for days for a FIRST RUN PRODUCT.

It is NOT common knowledge/sense not to buy a first-run product. If everyone followed your logic, then the product would go away just as fast as it got here, because no one would buy it. Are you trying to say you're not a fan of capitalism either? Simple 5th grade stuff is knowing not to eat your own feces, not knowing to wait and ask mommy for a new XBOX360 next June or July because you think there will be problems.

98% of everyone DID NOT pay "exhorbant" amounts of money for their system, and 99% of them DID NOT wait in lines for "days". Most everyone paid MSRP (the exception is the few on eBay), and most everyone probably waited no more than 8 hours I'd guesstimate.

Specop, people like you kill me when you seem to get joy out of other people's problems. Maybe you're jealous because you weren't able to snag a system like everyone else? The fact is simply this; there are a minimal number of people right now getting lock-ups. Why is that all you're hearing about in some of these threads? What reason do the people who are having no problems have to come into a thread about XBOX360 issues? Those 95% of people who aren't having problems are currently enjoying their gaming experience (atleast I'd hope), and don't have time to join into conversations with angry consumers. I hate it for those people who are having issues, and you should too, not be laughing.

I'm wondering where people who are reporting defects have their 360 sitting. It really is a good idea to not to sit it around other electronics that get warm like your receiver. The 360 generates alot of heat by itself.

I've got mine sitting in a seperate cubby of my entertainment center away from all the other electronics and where it has plenty of room to ventilate all the heat. Not a single problem so far.

I've got one of those entertainment centers that has a span with two bays over the TV. I've got my DirectTivo sitting in one and put the 360 in the other. My receiver and original Xbox are sitting in the right column rack.
