Heh. Don't blame them. I wasn't going to buy one for myself either if all I could get was the Core.
I picked up a Core on launch day, because it was either that or nothing. And a Core system (w/HDD, extra wireles controller, component cables, and remote) is better than NO system.

Agree but....I had serious WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) to consider in my decision. And spending $100 or more on accessories would have killed that for me.

pretty much i bet many are just waiting for more full package systems to come off the line i guess they underestimated peoples willingness to pay 100 extra for the full system.

The total cost to bring a Core system up to Premium specs is about $80 (subtract $30 if you don't need the component cables, and another $30 if you don't care about the remote). The only differences are that you get a wired controller, and a better remote. So yeah, it's definitely not as good of a deal overall... But, like I said, it's still better than no deal at all.

why not just wait?

would it have killed people to wait 4-6 weeks until the hype dies down?

I bet in January, this will be a non-issue.

Of course it wouldn't have "killed" me... But I'd rather spend the $80 than wait 4-6 weeks. And judging by the amount of entertainment it has given me, my family, and my friends... Money well spent!

How are you getting that its only $80? The HDD alone is $99.

I'm confused too

HDD - $100
Wireless Controller - $50
Remote Control - $30
HD AV Cables - $40
XBox Live Headset - $20
1 Month XBox Live Gold - $8

That is about $248 more to bring it up to the equivalent of the Premium package. I don't know where you got $80 extra ... if it were onl $80 extra you think they would sell it for $400, $20 more than the $80 extra you claimed it to be?

Heh...forgot to mention this. I was playing PGR3 on Live Friday night and a guy with a Professional rank came in to a lobby and everyone started talking when the guy revealed he had gotten fired that day. The reason, he had stayed up until 5AM playing PGR3 the previous night and overslept. He was supposed to open up at where ever he worked at 7AM.

I'm a night owl but I no longer stay up any later than 2AM.

$80 over the cost of the Premium, not over the cost of the core. Also, quite a number of those expenses aren't necessary and I guarantee you it's not necessary to spend retail on any of those parts. To get a better idea, knock $10 off the price of anything over $29.99 (coupon through Best Buy) and $5 off anything over $19.99 (another coupon at Best Buy but not stackable).

I agree some arent' necessary, but they said its $80 to bring it to Premium Specs, and the accessories I just listed are the ones that would bring it to Premium Specs.

And after having the premium pack now for a few weeks, I can say that all of the extra items are definitely a necessity for me

I haven't found any in the Los Angeles area since launch. I think the local stores are getting tired of hearing from me every day to ask about inventory.

Yeah, sorry... I meant it would cost an extra $80 (~$480 total for the Core system and the accessories.)

As for the $50 for the wireless controller, that's not apples to apples, unless you subtract the $40 for the wired controller that you already have. And then subtract whatever you consider the difference for the (better) Media Remote. Oh yeah, not to split hairs, but the MS Component Cables are $30 at Target.

I can only imagine this is some guy who got the idea to sue over the internet. Why sue a big company like MS on 2 weeks worth of internet gossip?

So he (and his lawyer) can be first in line for the settlement money. I guarantee you that they don't want to take this to court. They want to settle.

I don't know. Microsoft has a pretty damn generous policy concerning faulty systems. Not only that, but if they could prove that the percentage of defective systems is in line with a typical piece of consumer electronics/computing equipment then I would think their case wouldn't have too much merit.

I hope MS fights this as I think this is just some a-hole who've heard probably the same 200 people on the internet going crazy because they happened to have gotten faulty systems.

I'd probably get PGR3 and COD2 to start out with. PDZ is a good game IMHO but it doesn't seem to be everybody's cup of tea. Same with Kameo. I'd download the demos for Kameo, NFS, and NBA Live 06 from Live Marketplace to see if you like them before you drop $50-$60 on them.

I'll sell you my PDZ for $40 shipped if you want. It's been played twice. I just do not like the game at all, and its virtually brand new.

Got mine back today, well the replacement.

Played PDZ for a couple hours and some PGR3 for 45mins, not a single lock up

I'm happy.

I suckered up and bought the $60 extended warranty as well. I think I was scammed into buying it, but I would rather have peace of mind.
