Moore sez
Microsoft's Xbox corporate VP of worldwide marketing and publishing Peter Moore told Japanese site ITmedia that a Blu-ray Xbox 360 peripheral could appear for the system if the need arises. Moore admitted that Microsoft isn't sure of the next-generation format war's outcome, with the worst-case scenario being a repeat of the Beta vs. VHS war of the '80s.

However, he suggested that whatever the outcome of the HD-DVD/Blu-ray war, the Xbox 360 can adopt the dominant format since its uses an external drive. He also suggested that it's a weak point for PlayStation 3, saying Sony's system is stuck with Blu-ray. Microsoft hasn't announced how the HD-DVD peripheral will connect to the Xbox 360, but it's most likely going to use one of the system's USB ports. While the PS3 may come with Blu-ray out of the box, there's no apparent reason an external HD-DVD drive couldn't be hooked up through that system's USB ports.

Moore once again confirmed that the HD-DVD add-on for the Xbox 360 is only for watching movies, and there are currently no plans to use it for games, nor are there plans to release an Xbox 360 with an internal HD-DVD drive.

Microsoft is planning to release SiN Episodes on Xbox Live Marketplace as well later this year, for use on the Xbox 360.
Actually, CNET may have this wrong... So, take it with a grain of salt.

There's an interview on Gamespot where the developer confirms this, they're looking at the Xbox marketplace thing.

Yep, which makes me wonder how they are going to handle this since the HDD is only 20GB. You aren't going to be able to store these episodes for a long period of time without running out of storage space as people keep downloading. Are they going to allow you to download these episodes again later if you so desire?

Well if it's going to be on XBox Live Arcade to play these SiN Episodes, that means each one will be under 50Mb. One of the requirements for XBLA games were they could only be 50Mb maximimum.

So a 20Gb HDD doesn't sound too shabby when you consider that 10 of these episodes would, at most, take half a gig of space on the HDD.

I just dont like how we are only open to a 12Gb partition on a 20Gb HDD ... But I do have a buncha crap on mine I could rid of, like NBA Live and Madden Demo's. I mainly have them to show people. I have like 8Gb free still.

Each Episode is going to be ~2gb. SiN Episodes isn't an Arcade game, so the XLA rules don't apply.

Oooh okay, scratch that then.

I bet these episodes will happen to coincide with the release of their 60Gb (or however large the bigger HDD's will be) HDD release.

Even more will depend on how the PC version is welcomed.

I'm not sure how much I like downloadable games. When I'm done with a game, I sell it (or trade it in)... I couldn't do that with Episodes or whatever else.

its not coming out any time soon ...

and whats the rush? people like you are the reason halo 2 was rushed and came out when it still had things that needed to be fixed in the game. and if you don't think its rushed, watch the bonus dvd that came w/the collectors edition of the game. bungie even admits it was rushed and they needed more time on it, but since MS promised the November 9th date, they were pressured and had a half-assed product out on that date.

but don't get me wrong, i love halo 2. but it just is sad thinking of how it could have been even BETTER if they had more time on it like they wished they did.

i say take your time bungie, i'd rather have a quality game than a 90% complete game with huge balance issues like halo 2.

Kevin from G4's Attack of the Show's Gamercard - BWAHAHAHAHAHA

This tool barely even plays any games on the 360 and then has the gall to bash it on AOTS. The only non-Arcade game he's played online has been Ridge Racer 6 and that was all the way back on 12/2/05. On top of that, he's completed almost no achievements in any of the games he's played offline.

Halo 2 is fine.. just update graphics add/remove a gun or two, change the limitedness of power weapons (like CS:S compared to CS) and you're fine.. screw single player

Halo 2's online multiplayer has so many balance issues, and if you can't see them, then you just haven't gotten to that point in the game where they stand out. i used to think it was fine too until I got pretty good at the game and realize just how many balance issues there were.

but one of the changes you just said they should make (about remove the limitedness of the power weapons) plays a huge factor in the game that should have been fixed at testing stages of the game.

i too dont care for single player, but a lot of people do.

I've played halo 2 for quite a long time and I'm actually not that bad (level 37 legit, no cheating/sandbagging) and the balance issues aren't that bad. I mean it DOES take skill to hold spawn points.. getting a different person at four positions, forcing spawns (while at the same time killing the stragglers). it also DOES take skill to get weapon control in certain levels and hold your turf... I don't think the balance issues are that bad, in fact the game is too n00b based IMO - the balance isn't enough.

Good then we are on the same exact page Halo 2 was definitely "noobified" from Halo 1. While it takes skill to get weapon control on certain levels, it also depends greatly on where you spawn (which is random) at teh beginning of a map. And once you get control of the power weapons, if you are playing by Bungie's default SMG start rules, it is not hard to keep control of the power weapons if you know what you are doing.

But yea level 37 legit is pretty damn good in my book

Hell ya beginning spawns are a problem, you're right.. in any sort of 1v1 or 2v2 in Lockout if you spawn by sniper and head to BR tower w/ noob (teammate has noob) its game over.
and the noobifiedness with SMG is why I play MLG

I can't stand that show. Actually, with the sole exception of Judgement Day (which I'm sure won't last long), I don't care for the channel anymore.

I've quit watching that station all together. I have watched a few episodes of Judgement Day here and there...but it's basically crap now. It used to be pretty good.

I don't even watch G4 anymore at all with maybe the exceptions of E3 and the 360 launch coverage (where I fastforwarded through most of it). It wasn't all that great before as Tech TV and it has only gone downhill since the merger with G4.

I heard mentioned elsewhere that Kevin really went off on the 360 recently and just ran across this tool's Gamercard. I thought it was hilarious that he's giving negative opinons on a system that he obviously hasn't played.

Ruh-roh Shaggy! Beware the DOA4 Save Glitch!

What we heard: Originally slated to be a 360 launch title, Dead or Alive 4's release date was pushed back for weeks, until it finally hit the market on December 29. The repeated postponements caused many to suspect that the game was either (a) having problems with supply or (b) having trouble passing Microsoft's certification for the 360.

The latter theory got more ammo last week, when a forum thread titled "WARNING: DOA4 has a major glitch" popped up on GameSpot's community. The original poster, gintheplacetobe, said that he had spent hours going through all the story modes and unlocking almost all the characters. "I played a few more sessions after that, and then booted up the game again only to find out that all of my [DOA4] save data was gone," wrote gintheplacetobe. "All of my unlocked characters, costumes, leader-board achievements, online ranking, ALL GONE!"

Was gintheplacetobe's experience an isolated case of bad luck, or a more widespread problem? After a several-day lag, a Tecmo rep indicated that there is a problem with some copies of the game. "We're aware of the issue you're referring to," the rep told GameSpot. "We're working to identify and resolve the potential problem with the technical folks at Microsoft." The rep said a patch would be coming soon.

So what can DOA4 players do in the meantime to ensure their hard-fought DOA4 victories don't vanish into thin air? Tecmo technical support says to do the following: (1) With your copy of DOA4 already inserted, turn on your 360 by pressing the "open tray" button. (2) Wait until all the information from your Gamer Profile is fully displayed on your Gamer Card, including achievements and other awards. (3) Close the tray again with DOA4 still inserted. If problems still occur, call Tecmo technical support at (310) 944-5005 (8 a.m.-6 p.m. PST) or e-mail them at help@tecmoinc.com.

Condemned was amazing and I have never played a game in it's league before.

Beating homeless people with pipes, check
Using cool CSI tools to find trace evidence, check
Beating homeless people with table legs, check
Beating homeless people with a paper cutter blade, check

I'm biased as I enjoyed beating the crazy homeless people.

Did you notice the front door (with doorknob and lock) on the right side of the wall?
