Official Xbox 360? Thread...

Who in their right mind would pay $300 for a core system, then have to buy all the extras adding another $250 to it.

I went to my local 24 hour Wal-Mart this morning at 8AM. There was already someone in line and they are only getting 14. 2 premium and 12 core.

Luckily my pre-order should be shipping from Amazon tonight/tomorrow. I also have a plan to get one in the morning.

Out of curiosity I called my local Walmart. They are getting 2 and are opening up at 7AM! We live in a small area, but 2???

Luickly I got a pre-order in from Circuit City on Friday...

Actually, "all the extras" is about $180 more, but it's not exactly apples to apples.

(All prices from Target)
Core System - $300
Hard Drive - $100
Headset - $20
Universal Media Remote - $30
Component Cables - $30
Total = $480

But there are some differences...

• The Universal Media Remote is better than the remote given with the Premium system.
• If you don't have component inputs on your TV, then you won't need the $30 cables listed.
• And if you go the Core route, your included controller is a wired model.

I do belive that the HD pack still includes a RCA hookup if I am not mistaken.

Yea I checked EB's site.... See the cable still has the yellow RCA hookup.

No go for me since all of the lines at Wally World were too long by the time I got off work. It's not a huge deal though since I should be able to get one in the next month or so. I just wanted one to day to say I have it but don't really care either way.

BTW, it wouldn't have mattered anyway since I refuse to buy the core system and neither of the stores bought a good amount of the premium.

How many people here are going to Sams Club tomorrow at 7am when they open for their business members? Seems like a surefire way to get one assuming they have them in stock.

I got 2 friends camping out side best buy as I type. #21 and 22 in line. for 38 premiums.

I'm not that desperate, just gonna walk into costco tomorrow and grab their bundle.

then wait a week or two and get my pre order from Gamestop.

No he doesn't have a clue He's going to be way excited. I got the package with 8 games and the accessories. He'll get the xbox and 4 games from us...then santa will leave him 4 games and all the accessoriess (along with the other stuff we've gotten him).

Oh yeah, I stopped by the Walmart Superstore near me on the way home. They said they received 16 units (im betting 20 and 4 employees got them) and there were about 8 people camping out. They said they were giving out tickets at 10PM and whoever had one at Midnight was getting a unit.

Then MS did its job. They took a page from Nintendo's book.

Overhyped console. Check.

Smaller than expected initial shipment. Check.

Launch day sell outs. Check.

All the while, their factories are churning out XBOX 360s that are ready to hit the shelves incrementally during the holidays.

Don't you guys get it? MS will do everything to ENSURE the XBOX 360 sells out on launch day, even if it means holding back some systems for later this week.

Publicity like this cannot be bought, it must be carefully created.

Launch day sell outs are much more desirable than flooding the shelves with systems.

Metal Gear Solid Sons of Liberty was realtime at the TGS (the nine minute video with old Snake). Game Informer played it themselves, moving around the environment ect with that Hydeo guy w/e his name is.

Good question. Probably not though? I would expect with the pre-sales and instore sales that most would be allocated.

I went to Natick, MA...The WalMart, which I though was gonna open at midnight (only teh super stores will) said they would open at 7AM, but here is the kicker....they only have 7 to sell. 7 Total...yikes...I then proceeded back home and i decided to swing by Circuit City.....they already had two people camping outside. I went to Besy Buy after to pick up my friend from work and they already had 4 people in tents...geesh...this ting is really hyped. I guess teh moral of this story is that if you want an Xbox 360 by launch and did not preorder, you need go somewhere else besides Natick, Ma.


BTW, the Framingham/Natick Best Buy has 19 (12 premium 7 core) to sell.
