pur - for those transitioning from paid Xbox (original) accounts, we're considered Gold, right? (Silver is free?)

I just got my XBox 360 in today from UPS, only a few short hours before I get to go home to high definition goodness. (And probably just end up playing fvcking Geometry Wars all day)

EDIT: I have Burnout....which is the whole point of my post. lol.

Great as the Xbox 360 is, the capacity of its hard drive is verging on embarrassing. Although marked up as a 20GB, you only really get around 12GB of space to play around with ? unless you add the XSATA.

Made by Datel, it?s a plug ?n? play peripheral that sits betwixt your 360 and the hard drive. It links up to your PC via USB, which allows you to move content backwards and forwards using any Xbox-friendly file manager software. The crux is that anything you?re not currently using on your 360 can be moved on to your computer?s (undoubtedly larger) hard drive, freeing up space for other stuff. You can then email Xbox content to your mates, provided it isn?t locked to your Live account.

It will be available soon, priced at around £30

This device may perhaps be useful, especially if MS doesn't release a larger HDD although I believe they will. Even if they do, it may be a little more cost efficient.

Will this allow XBLA games and demos to be stored on the attached hard drive as well? Previously, any hard drive added through USB could only store media files and no game files.

Do you have any idea what are you talking about?

1) It's A/B/G.
2) It's on the more expensive side - $99.
3) Performance is not anywhere near lacking:

I think he was saying that if you get a Wireless A Access Point then you can run the 360 in wireless A mode with the 360 wireless adaptor.

I'm not sure it is worth the cost of getting a Wireless A Access Point or router though unless you are using the media center functionality heavily.

Well, I have burn out, and I also have gold, but I haven't played burnout, and I haven't set up gold....so that might count? HA HA. I haven't had time to get to burn out yet, but once I do I will start Xbox live, so I guess that doesn't matter or count...

Anyone pick up the full TR yet? How is it?

Oh. Haha yea that makes sense now, I was like "wtf are you talking about man?". Aren't most AP's still have A/B/G functionality anyway? The majority of the older ones that weren't G yet supported A/B. (I haven't kept up with wireless lately so I don't know if the B/G supports A out of the box like the older B's did)

Nope. Most AP's and routers are B/G. There are some that are A/G but they are more expensive than their B/G counterparts.

I use gamznflix.com, and couldn't be happier. I've used them for around 2 months now, and get 3 games/movies out at a time for $18 a month. I only had one issue with something taking forever to get to me, and that was PGR3, but that was just a weird occurance. It took a week to get to me, but all other games I've gotten 2 days after I get the email saying they've shipped.

Plus, new releases seem to be easy to get (atleast they're listed on site to be a short wait), and the one I got arrived to my doorstep within a week of release. I've got BF:MC coming, so we'll how long it will take to get to me after being released on the 11th/12th.

blurred - thanks for the tip/info. My cousin uses gamefly but I was looking for other alternatives too. So $18 a month for 3 out at one time? That's fricking awesome

Tiger Woods demo, gonna have to try that out...

it's bad. i hated perfect dark and traded my pdz for someone's tiger woods. tiger woods is probably only 1% better than pdz.

i no longer have tiger woods though, and only played it like 3 times when i had it.

and nm about the burnout question, i figured out what i was wondering.

Don't bother; it's not good. I was a big fan of 2003-2005 but 2006 is just weird. I don't find any entertainment in it at all.

I didn't mind it at all... Except for the fact that the #1 reason I bought it was to play it online with friends, only to find the online play was incredibly laggy. (Not sure if that's been fixed.)

No problem. One of the big reasons I decided to give gameznflix a try is because [at the time I was looking] Gamefly only had the one distribution center, and that was on the west coast somewhere. Gameznflix has 4 distribution centers around the country, one of which is here in KY where I am.

Another good thing about gameznflix? They just revamped their site, and trust me, it's for the better. I took a survey after one month of service, and they showed the results after you were done. Their website scores took a BIG hit, mainly because their site did suck balls. It's much much better now, so it's a good time to get in.

If you sign up, use the code DVDWEEKLY to get your first month for $12.99. I assume the code still works, as I originally got it from a 2 month old thread, and it still worked for me.

Whelp, I finally went and picked up Oblivion...well, rented it really. I created a character named Garth with a custom class of "Dreamweaver" (really just a Spellsword but it just kind of hit me to do that as a joke).

Pretty interesting so far. I'm already through the opening tutorial/quest and am now in the part of the ruins where there are undead. Hoping to see how much more I can get in tonight.

FYI for those that still play PGR3 - The SpeedPack is ready for download as is the AutoUpdate.

More details for the PGR3 content, as found on Major Nelson's blog...
You can buy the ?Speedpack? for 400 points, or each individual car for 60 points each, except for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, which is free. Either way, I?d say the ?Speedpack? is the better deal.

Here are the vehicles available in the Speedpack (400 points) or for individual purchase (60 points/each) :
  • Aston Martin V8 Vantage
  • RUF RT12
  • Saleen S7 Twin Turbo
  • Audi RS 4
  • Chevrolet Corvette Z06
  • Dodge Viper SRT-10 Coupe
  • Ferrari 612 Scaglietti
  • Lamborghini Gallardo SE
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII FQ-400
  • Nissan NISMO R34GT-R Z-Tune
  • Pontiac GTO
  • Radical SR8
Toss in PGR3, and when you connect to Xbox Live, there is an awfully nice auto update waiting for you. This AU adds some new features, including the following:
  • Tournaments ? Be one of 64 players to qualify with the best lap time using a car and route that?s predetermined. If successful, move on into the Elimination rounds to compete with 7 other drivers. The top 4 in each race move on until the final race where only the first place driver earns the victory.
  • Tournament Channel (Gotham TV) ? Watch other players race in tournament Elimination rounds.
  • ?Quit to Lobby? (Abandon option in PlayTime race) Host can now take all participants back to the lobby in a play time session, rather than booting them all back to the Play Time menu.
  • ?Lock to Host Car? and ?Lock to Host Car Class? (PlayTime | Xbox Live | Create Race | Race Mode | City | Route) are two new toggles that the lobby creator can turn on or off to limit what type of cars his/her competition can use in a play time race over Xbox Live.
  • Previously Played Routes List (PlayTime | Route Creator | Previous Live Routes) ? Play other gamers routes that they created in the Route Creator over Xbox Live and store up to 10 in your ?Previously Played Routes List?. You have the option to save or discard them and use them in your own sessions.
  • All Cars Position Toggle (More | Options | HUD | Position toggle) ? In races modes with multiple cars where target is not displayed, this shows the current place every car in the race is in throughout the event.
  • Hide HUD Toggle (More | Options | HUD | HUD toggle) ? This gives the player the option to turn off ALL in race HUD displays in all camera views.
  • Voice Communicator Identifier ? In a multiplayer race the name of the gamertag will now flash in the upper left hand corner when speaking into a voice communicator, making it possible to identify the speaker.
  • Online Career rotating car class hoppers ? All 8 hoppers in the Online Career (Breakneck Racing, Nurburgring F1 Challenge, Speedway Skirmish, Knockout World Tour, Nordschleife Drivers Club, Urban Rally, Gotham Duelling, and Dusk Til Dawn Racing) now change the required entry car class daily.
  • Wheel Support ? Control set for steering wheels and dynamic updates have been added for the Hori, Mad Catz, and Joytech Nitro wheels (all via the More | Options | Controller | Wheel A configuration).
  • Online Qualifier Achievement ? 50 gamerscore is now awarded for qualifying, then attempting the first elimination round of a tournament.
  • PLUS: The HUD no longer remains invisible after looking back, hitting the Guide button, and then re-entering the game and it?s now possible to view if you have already purchased a car while shopping in the showroom via the ?Cars Owned? tally under the Car Stats section.
Have fun!

Xbox 360 n00b here. I was waiting for the PS3 but couldn't wait any longer. Note that I am a real big n00b. I haven't owned a console since the Atari 2600. Seriously.

Anyways, I'm Lovin' It©. It syncs up for network streaming of music and photos with my iMac nicely, and it mates well with my iPod mini. So far I've only got PGR3 and DoA 4 (and Robotron 2084 of course ) and I am looking at buying some more stuff, but was a little surprised to see that the list of titles is still pretty sparse, half a year after the Xbox 360's release.

My girlfriend is convinced that she needs to buy a Harry Potter game. Correction: She's convinced she needs me to buy her a Harry Potter game. My understanding was that they were for younger kids, no?

Also, the Backwards compatibility list has me intrigued. If I can find some used games cheap, I may just pick up a couple. How are the pinball games? Pure Pinball looks interesting, but Pinball Hall of Fame not so much. I'm also tempted to get the Sonic Mega Collection.

Should I just wait a few more months for a native Xbox 360 version? I'm thinking no, since it's bound to cost more, and like I said, I may be able to find some of these titles cheap used.

P.S. What do people think of the Xbox 360 golf and tennis games?

P.P.S. Sorry if this has already been covered, but I didn't feel like going back and reading all 2400 messages...

only golf game out is tiger woods 2006, and it honestly is not a good game. wait until the new one comes out in september because 07 will be 100x better than 06.

06 on 360 has 6 courses and 10 professional golfers. the framerate is absolute garbage as well. it's just not a good game

the xbox1 version has like 20 or so courses to play from, so the 360 one doesnt have 1/3 of the courses of the xbox1 version.
