I've been noticing, for the first time in some of the big box retailers actual 360s in stock, few cores as well as premiums. Hopefully, this a good sign for availability for the short and long term.

I just went and picked up Battlefield 2, and it came with a free 48 hour trial for XBOX Live GOLD.

I don't need it, so the first person to quote this message will get a PM from me with the code in it to activate the free trial.

You must have 1000 posts though, I want to give it to someone who's been around for a while.

Heh. I'd make use of that offer, but I'm on my one month free deal for now.

P.S. I spent all of CAD$5 and $10 for Amped and Pure Pinball for the Xbox, since they both work on the 360. For those prices I figured I couldn't lose. Well, they're OK, but now that I'm used to HD gaming, original Xbox games really do look old school.

So, what's the deal with the PGR 3 speed pack? Do people think it's worth it?

The majority of the older ones that weren't G yet supported A/B. (I haven't kept up with wireless lately so I don't know if the B/G supports A out of the box like the older B's did)
Most old APs only supported 802.11b. 802.11a was very uncommon, 802.11a/b even moreso. Even today, 802.11a/b/g APs are still the exception, not the rule, in the consumer space.

If you knew what you were talking about, you'd know that 802.11a operates at 5ghz, making it far less prone to interference by microwaves, cordless phones, and other consumer wireless devices, which generally operate at 2.4ghz - the same frequency as 802.11b and 802.11g. 802.11a does indeed provide a better connection, especially for people in higher population density areas. For online gaming and media streaming, which are especially sensitive to dropped packets, this is not a trivial advantage.

Lesson of the day: re-read posts before you start criticizing them, and make damned sure you know what you are talking about when you do so.

Wow. I finally tried out the BF:Modern Combat demo and I think that is the first demo that truly would make me not want to rent a game much less buy it. The controls were just horrible as I would push up and my guy/vehicle would go sideways. Wouldn't stop when I wanted it to. Would get caught/stuck on objects that I thought I was far away from. And on and on.

I completely rebooted my 360, my router, and my DSL modem to make sure it wasn't a bad connection...but it wasn't. It was the game as far as I could tell.

Yeah, it is still rare to race in Class A and see a car other than a F50 GT.

I like the speed pack, and the fact that they added a few almost "normal" cars. That's one thing I liked better about PGR2... They had a larger variety of cars (not just exotics).

Yep. I think the lack of variety in cars shows just one of the ways that Bizarre Creations was up against the wall in making sure that PGR3 was ready for launch.

Still a fantastic game though. Hopefully they'll get everything they wanted to get in for PGR4.

Wow... Personally I loved the demo, and went to buy the game on the weekend... I'm enjoying it!

Oblivion?s ?The Orrery Pack? is unleashed!

Oblivion gamers can now rejoice as Bethesda Softworks has released their second bit of download content for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, entitled ?The Orrery Pack?, which can be downloaded on the Xbox Live Marketplace at a price point of only 150 points (9.83 MB). Now it is time for you to ?harness the power of the stars and Rebuild the defiled Orrery, unlocking the secrets of this Mages Guild Inner Sanctum.?

Also, rumor mill, Moto GP Demo in the works in the not so distant future.

It is funny how the Orrery Pack is cheaper than the horse armor upgrade.

More new content already?! I've been playing this game for a while now and I feel I have barely scratched the surface. Good job Bethesda! A game that is actually worth $60.

Is the speedpack free, or does it cost something to purchase?

Costs 400 points for 11 cars. You can get the Aston Martin V8 Vantage for free.

The Auto-Update which fixes some bugs and adds some features is free.

Yea, probably felt the heat over the horse armor, but a new quest line such as this is well worth the 150 imho, of course this piece is free for me, as I've still got some of the 500 points I got free from the Verizon give away.

Meh. I'll stick with the regular PGR3 then, I have a hard enough time driving the stock cars, muchless waste however much that is on 11 more.

80points = $1 US...so, it is $5 for the speedpack. I picked it up anyways as I had 200 points just sitting there doing nothing and raced a couple of them this weekend. Pretty fun but as CVSiN mentioned, only one is at the top of its class which means they are pretty much useless for racing online.

The speed pack is 400 points ($5), and you get 12 cars. Whether this is worthwhile or not is up to you. I am personally not terribly excited about it - some of the XBLA games seem like a better deal. However, there is also a free patch that adds a lot of new features to the game, such as tournaments.

The Orrey Pack seems like a reasonable buy (150 points = $1.88), especially if you're running out of stuff to do. How that could be is beyond me (the game is friggin' huge), but the more content, the better. The pricing is supposedly a reaction to the grumbling from the community about the relatively high cost of the barding content download. Personally, I think it could be an easy money-maker for them - release lots of cheap add-ons, and maybe toss up a "combo pack" after a while to hit the cheaper segment, especially if they contract some of the TES modding community.

Works great for MP3 & AAC audio (non-DRM'd) in iTunes as well as images of all sorts (including RAW apparently). Doesn't support video though.
